Jane, I don't really know....everyone is a bit different in how fast the body metabolizes nutrients.
I think I'll move up the potassium thread ahead of the "well aged" topic, mostly because I want to read some of the latest clinical articles on menopause and aging in general.

Speaking of glucosamine/chondroitin, I'm not very happy with my report so far. I feel like something is missing and could be more complete. Maybe I'm just a perfectionist?
I think next week, I will post two new nutritional threads. One will be on glucosamine/chondroitin and the other will be on potassium.

Oh Miss Bio? DH and I were reading about Oil of Oregano for his psoriasis. After some reading it appears this is a good supplement for just about anyone to take. I have to check it against his Lipitor though, because if it interfers with that he won't take it.

Do you know anything about it?
Thanks!
Hi SG! I'm very familiar with OoO b/c I used it myself to rid myself of yeast. It is good for many things and comes in capsule form as well as an ultra concentrated liquid form.
I think I took OoO for about 6 months or more. Personally, I didn't experience any side effects, but it also didn't help me very much with my psoriasis. However, I did NOT take it topically, only internally. If your DH does try it, perhaps he should try both?
I don't which type of psoriasis he has, but I suffer from plaque, inverse, and psoriatic arthritis. Please let me know if it helps him.
As far as interacting with Lipitor, I have no clue and I seriously doubt that a typical physican is going to know as well. Most do not study alternative medicines, so you may have to seek advice elsewhere. All the clinical studies of OoO that I have read have been on animals, not humans.
If your DH is suffering from high cholesterol, is he also taking niacin? You know, one of those B-vitamins. He should!!!
Sorry I couldn't help you out more.

Great information! He has the plaque kind. Usually it's very mild but his knee looks terrible! He has some ancient topical stuff from the Dermo and it never worked anyway. I will include him in the B vitamins and I'll get the oil capsules for both of us and he can try the cream on his knee. I'll let you know if it works. I'm sceptical because the stuff I read seems "too good to be true"!
SG, I don't know if you have Atkins' Vitanutrient book, but Atkins has lists of what supplements he suggests to help with high cholesterol, skin issues, etc. I say this b/c I've been doing taking his recommendations for over a year now & have noticed a huge difference. Many of the supplements are the same, but at different dosages so I take the higher of the two. My supplements are geared toward high cholesterol, arthritis, skin, asthma & allergies. If you like, I can PM you what he recommends. Hope the cream stuff works for him!
