    Hope everyone is well. Sorry I have been AWOL, the start of the school year is pretty much taken over my life. I think things have slowed to a bearable pace but the homecoming dance is this Saturday so the weekend will be activity heavy again. I am really so happy that I get to help out on these projects because I know it will be over in a few years. Yes, that is what I keep telling myself. My sister gave me these tea towels with a retro-mom (a la June Cleaver) on them saying,"Stop me before I volunteer again!" So true......Atkins is still working and I am on plan. My weight is holding steady but I can really tell if I don't get enough water or if I have one more glass of wine than I should. I wonder if being 50 is part of that. My under eye area really bags when I indulge or if I am dehydrated. That seems strange to me.

      I have the same problem.....only not because of drinking -- because of not getting enough water daily. One thing that is good is the dark circles I had under my eyes are gone since I started Atkins...yea! I've had them since my hard drinking days and really thought I'd always have them but they are gone. It's nice not to have to use concealer everyday for it.

      Glad to hear things are good for you....I laughed about the "stop me before I volunteer" towels...my sis-in-law should have had them when the girls were young. The girls always said "mom is at school more than we are"......lol.

        Haven't been here for awhile and forgot this was my little journal in the 50+ area of this site. I have a main journal I post of quite often, but keep forgetting about this one.....should probably just let this one go.

              how is everyone this evening? I'm making a fish dish off lindas site - just put cod and frozen veggies in foil, added spice, butter and lemon....super easy!

                  I made a stunning curry tonight with gravy beef (slow cooking type meat) and eggplant and had it over steamed broccoli....was delish!

                    Hi all! I'm finally getting back into my exercise routines after a long blueberry season and the buying of an old house that we are trying to get ready to rent out. I'm not home most of the time and when I am, I've been too tired to exercise, but no more.

                    I admit I've gained some extra weight that I'm trying to lose now that I have a little more control over what I'm eating. Lately other people have been doing the cooking and I've been at their mercy. But last night was good because I was served a grilled chicken breast and mixed veggies without potatoes or carrots. It was good but the chicken was dry and hard to swallow.

                    It's cold and raining here and I have to spend another 6 hours manning a garage sale that I'm not looking forward to.

                      Hi everyone...wow - it's been awhile!! Well, I've spent the better part of the past week doing the Spring cleaning I never got done, so now it's Winter Cleaning ...mom was so sick when I should have been cleaning earlier in the year I kept putting it off....finally it just couldn't be put off any longer. Every piece of wood molding, all carpets cleaned, dusting, cleaning the fireplace (getting read to use it), each room had it's own list and we went through the house like we were cleaning for the Health Inspector planning a visit! What is left is going through now is re-arranging shelves (garage & closets) and straightening up drawers.....other than that it's done.

                      I have so much energy that I need to do something to keep from driving everyone kooky! After the long time off Atkins due to illness I knew I wasn't in keotsis, and after re-reading the book I found so many things I had never done right - so I took stock and last Monday I started induction like I'd never done Atkins before. I didn't have this energy boost when I first started, I feel differently that I did before - so I'm thrilled with the changes.

                      It's been in the high 70's the past 4 days...today it's overcast and in the middle 60's but it's still nice enough outside. We had a pretty good breeze today so all the neighbors leaves are coming into our yard again....I mowed yesterday and got rif of them...it's a never ending job!! LOL

                        Hi all!

                        I'm still working on the house we bought to rent out until our daughter moves back home from out of state in 4 years. Today I spent 3 hours scraping the old paint off of the 3 garage doors. Tomorrow I will repaint them and then start scraping the house window frames.

                        I've been having a lot of back pain lately and went to the chiropractor this evening hoping for some relief. It felt good but I know it will take awhile to get back to where it should be. I've been sleeping on the couch for months because I can't get up from the bed without excruciating pain! Maybe I just need a new bed. I hope it's something that simple!

                          Oh Nyna -- sorry to hear your back is giving you fits....when my back or my feet hurt I'm more miserable than at any other time!

                          I'm glad you're back on the board more, although it sounds like you are busier with the house than you were during blueberry season!! My 2nd husband and I bought a 110 year old home and gutted the inside and remodeled it....Since you aren't trying to live in the miss on a daily basis it's much better on you -- I hated that house, not being able to have a clean home almost put me into a home! When I left him the only thing left to do was put new siding on the outside.....I figured I had worked long enough for something that my name wasn't associated with so it was time to go! We sold the stocks we held jointly when we divorced - I put mine into a ROTH IRA, he sided the house and drank the rest....hope he enjoyes his home!! (I really do, as long as I don't have to deal with the house or him I'm dilerious!!)

                          Ok - gotta get up and make lunch. I'm having egg salad - made it this morning when I was making my omelet. Egg salad and a tossed salad...YUM!!
