    It's a great sandwich Eva!!! It's one of those that I have to watch myself or I could just keep eating these. BLT's are probably my favorite sandwich of all time so to be able to still eat them (in modified form) is wondrful.

    Breakfast was a "ditto" -- same as normal....2 egg omelet (w/1oz onion, 1oz orange pepper, 1oz cheddar cheese & 1Tbsp salsa on top). 1 cup decal w/splenda and 32 oz water.

    Rode the bike 25 miles this morning and drank another 32oz of water.

    Lunch: 1c spaghetti squash, 1c green beans (out of the garden) 1 roma tomato and small fried chicken breast, 32oz water.

    Dinner is going to be roast beef, canned spinach w/vinegar and the last of my mock-a-foni & cheese. I put everything into Fitday and it's 30 carbs so that's just about where I want to be.

        It's not been a good day -- I spent most of the day just thinking about things -- everything -- I'm still making a few decisions but I've finished with others.

        I was brought up in a family where we told the truth and followed the rules no matter what. I was called rude today, because- I state facts, I don't sugar coat things - that doesn't help anyone - so I've detracted a few of my posts today because I couldn't get my wording right without upsetting people. I signed off for the morning and afternoon until I could get my wits about me - hopefully I'm there.

          Hang in there. The truth is hard for many people. I don't know what happened (the rude thing) so I can't have any words of wisdom for you. Seems like you always have something that helps me Carole, so thank you and keep up the good work. We 50+ need to stick together. I really appreciate all the support. This Atkins thing has been so much better this go round because of people like you.

              Boy the board is dead -- either that or it's me...one or the other....lol.

              We had a good dinner tonight -- yesterday I made 2 servings of cole slaw and had one of them tonight with a cheeseburger and a salad. I made a little mayo/heinz low sugar ketchup and sugar free relish mixed together to dip the hamburger into but I found I was dipping my salad into it as well.

              Tomorrow for dinner we're having fried chicken, fresh green beans, fresh tomatoes, I'll have a salad - mom & the hubs will have potatoes & gravy with their chicken.

              Good food day today - I feel satisfied and happy with my food choices.

                Yum, your menus sound lovely. We barbqued a tri-tip roast last night and the veggies I was going to grill were snapped up with the dip as appetizers. Less labor intensive and a surprise because I also had chips out. I figured the kids would eat all the chips, guess I have been pushing the veggies successfully. It also helps to have a crowd of teenagers around, they compete for the food! I think I too will fry chicken tonight. I will research a cole slaw recipe as well. Thanks for the great ideas, Eva

                  Here's a coleslaw recipe I found (I think on Linda's site) I only used a cup of cabbage so I didn't have too much if I didn't really like the taste -- I LOVED IT!!!



                  1/2 medium cabbage, finely shredded, about 1 pound *
                  1 ounce piece of carrot, shredded along with the cabbage (I used an orange pepper because carrot isn't on my rung)
                  1 cup mayonnaise
                  1/4 cup Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
                  2 tablespoons white vinegar
                  1/4 teaspoon celery seed
                  1/8 teaspoon pepper
                  1/2 teaspoon salt

                  Mix the mayonnaise, Splenda, vinegar and seasonings in a large bowl. Mix in the cabbage and carrot, stirring to coat well. Chill several hours before serving.
                  TIP: It may not look like the sauce will be enough to coat that much cabbage. It will be plenty, as you'll see after it has chilled a few hours. An easier way to get the sauce evenly mixed into the slaw is to put about 1/3 of the cabbage in a large bowl and blend in all of the sauce. Now add another 1/3 of the cabbage and mix well, then repeat with the remaining cabbage.
                  Makes about 10 servings
                  Do not freeze

                  * Or buy the pre-shredded coleslaw mix and omit the carrot
                  Per Serving: 176 Calories; 18g Fat; 1g Protein; 4g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs

                    We had our fried chicken -- I had mine coated in parmesan cheese and fried in olive oil. We also had fresh green beans, creamed turnips and they had mashed potatoes, gravy and 7 layer salad. I am stuffed with what I ate!! I love creamed turnips (I grew up eating them) they remind me of mashed potatoes so I always try to make them when we have chicken! As a kid I use to put green beans on top of my potatoes and gravy making a face (the beans were eyes, nose & mouth).....I still like having green beans with fried chicken but I've grown out of making faces with them...lol!!!

                    I had shrimp and coleslaw for lunch. I'm trying to get fish in at lunches because I'm not a big fish eater. I have tuna or shrimp -- that's about the extent of my fish eating abilities!! I did have crab a couple weeks ago and liked it and I'd like to try lobster sometime - we'll see.

                    Time to take Sadie and mom for a walk -- we go everynight after dinner. Have a great weekend and week ahead.

                              I forgot to post this today -- I'm down another pound...it really takes forever to loose each of them but at least I'm going down and not up! 1 more and I've lost 35 pounds....not great as opposed to others and their weight loss but I'm not "others" so I don't really care and I don't compare myself to anyone else. Even when the scale isn't moving I'm loosing inches and that's more important to me.

                                Thanks Carole, I can't wait to try your cole slaw recipe. I remember having creamed turnips as a kid too. I totally had forgotten them. My mom also loved cauliflower and we would have it mashed with butter. The fried chicken was lovely last night, just had broiled pork chops for dinner tonight. I love the bone-in ones, they taste so good. It's probably another childhood memory, I know we never had the boneless ones then.
