I used to do a lot of graphics. Loved it. But I burned out trying to satisfy impossible-to-please customers. So I've gotten away from it and almost forgotten everything I used to know. But it was fun to play around with something simple again!

I could tell from the way you do your signature that you knew a lot about graphics.

I overate yesterday -- on purpose -- all on plan. I had a total of a little over 2,000 calories. I had been extremely tired and the extra food really energized me.

But now, back to watching the calories again.

Yep that's me...my life has been one big graphic, tube or MP3 for years. I am getting tired of it also but I like the people still and that's why I stay.

I'm very tired tonight, mowing the yard did me in today...the wind has been blowing so hard the last couple days it just wears you out.

We stopped at the store this afternoon and they had T-Bone steaks on sale so I got 3 and I can't wait to have them for dinner. Pork Roasts were on sale for .99 a pound so that's why I was actually there...but couldn't resist the T-Bone for 3.99 a pound.

We had pork steaks, broccoli and cauliflower for dinner -- it was soooo good! Tomorrow will be T-Bone's!!!!! Whooo hooooo!!

Ok I'm outta here .... I need to get mom's eye drops put in her eye and I'm off to bed!!

We've got the wind, too, and it is exhausting. I am really tired tonight, too.

Just went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea. Very carefully tore the tea bag open and put the loose tea in the cup.... then realized what I had done.

We had grilled chicken tonight. It was great. Had a pot roast last night, which gave me yummy leftovers for lunches.

We still have a freezer full of meats, but I need to buy fresh veggies tomorrow.

Hope tomorrow's a good day for you!

Morning Sunny -- the sun is shining, no rain in site today and I'm happy!! Hopefully the electrician will be here today to install the ceiling fan in the basement family room and install the 3 outlets we need him to. Instead of sitting here reading posts I should be cleaning the house a little so the guy doesn't think we live in a pig sty! All the rain lately has made the house a little un-tidy (thanks to 4 little puppy feet). We had the carpet scotchproofed the last time it was cleaned so as long as I let the mud dry it comes right off the top of the carpet and doesn't get ground into the fibers...best money I ever spent!!

I got a beef roast yesterday so mom could make her veggie/beef stew to eat while she's under the weather with her eye surgery (it makes her feel good, I bought the roast!!) and we cooked it last night so I'm looking forward to having a roast beef wrap (lettuce) or grinding up the roast beef and adding pickles and mayo for lunchmeat. Sounds like a great lunch to me!!

Today has got to be a bike riding day -- I didn't do enough yesterday and can feel it. Yesterday when my blood sugar was crashing I grabbed a Diet Rite and drank it as fast as I possibly could....there isn't any sugar in it (it's made with Splenda) but I think it was more a mental thing (it's sweet it will get my blood sugar up quickly) -- I haven't drank a full soda in months but that one went down like it was clear water. I don't want anymore but it sort of scared me that I could drink it that fast without thinking. It also made me realize I can't leave this WOE because I don't have enough control over some things yet.

OK - it's a half hour later (8:00 a.m.) and the vacuuming has been done and stairs going to the basement are clean. Sadie's latest bunch of toys are now safely back in her bedroom in the toy area....she will have a new crop of toys out by the end of the day! Mom just got up so I will be able to vacuum up here also so after I dust the housework will be done for another few days.

Thanks to the neighbor 2 houses to the West I have a beautiful crop of dandylions in the front yard....and he's one of my favorite (NOT) neighbors - such a nice gift.....pfffffffffttttt!!! If the wind stays down today I'll get out and spray my lovely lawn flowers.

Breakfast is over and the kitchen has been cleaned up so it's time to vacuum & dust....I'll be back later.

            Did the electrician come?

I don't know if it's from all the years of smoking, but after I rode the bike 11 miles the other day, I lay down for a nap and slept several hours. I was exhausted.

And the next day, of course, I had the huge appetite.

Yesterday I only rode 5 miles and did floor exercises, but again felt totally exhausted. So I am taking a rest day today.

Kind of discouraging when I can't keep up with what I want to do!

HeeHee.... as a wild edible hobbiest, I absolutely love dandelions. You can roast the roots for 5 or 6 hours on 250 degrees, then grind them up, and it is gourmet class decaffeinated coffee. Mine has a deep chocolate undertone.

You can't fix them in a drip percolator. Must use an old time regular percolator... or put them in a large coffee filter lined sieve, immerse the basket part in a pot of water, and simmer them that way.

            But, oh! Is it good!

I also use the tender young greens in salads. I actually bought dandelion seeds this year!

But then I live way out in the woods. Couldn't do that in suburbia.

oh Sunny -- you are back!!!!! YIPPEE!!! We missed you last night.

I'll send you my dandylions...I can't believe you are actually planting them....gracious girl!!

The electrician did not show yesterday - had some sort of pool emergency on a job he'd worked on last week so who knows when he'll get here.

Mom's eye surgery went well this morning -- we were home by 12:30, ate a quick bite and both of us laid down for awhile. I was up and out of the shower by 6:15 -- got my breakfast and made me a goodie bag to take plus made the hubs lunch by 6:30 and we left at 8:00. I can't believe it's almost 6:30 now and I haven't accomplished a thing today! Took a day off from the 6WEC - I'm very tired from the day.

Well, we have another family member on here -- she's a little "mini me"...LOL!!! -- Everlosing!!! She's a real hoot. I've been watching The Blue Planet on the Animal Planet channel and swear some of my family members are living under the sea also --- looks like them...LOL!!!

I'm glad you are back with power today - was it a storm that came through last night? I didn't plan anything for dinner tonight and have nothing thawed out so we'll have "breakfast" tonight. Eggs, ham and maybe some fried potatoes (radishes for me)

It was delicious -- ham/onion/broccoli and cheese omelet for me with fried radishes, 2 over easy eggs, ham, fried potatoes and toast for the hubs....and a bowl of stew for mom.

Ok -- I'm off to see what else I can do on here

                Glad the surgery went well.

Yes, isn't Everlosing fun? I get such a kick out of her!

The electricity was out because of all the wind we had. I guess it blew some trees onto power lines. That infernal wind finally quit today. I hope it stays gone!

I am very tired.... and downright angry at the slow weight loss. No one can tell I've lost 18 pounds -- in 3-3/4 months. And I am bloated and my jeans are tight this evening.

We went to Walmart today. I got two tomato plants -- one Roma and one Better Boy. Plus lots of fresh veggies and some new face creams. AND some impatiens to plant out under the trees out front.

While I was out, I bought a 2 ounce package of macademia nuts, planning to eat one ounce. They were SO good. I ate the whole package.

Then, because I just felt so lousy, I didn't even measure my taco salad ingredients and ate way too many veggie carbs and sour cream this evening. I just piled it on the plate.

I am taking one "I don't care" night (nothing illegal... just not measuring) and hope I feel a lot more positive tomorrow.

If the sun shines and I can get outside and work it will make such a difference.

I did get some good news. I will get a 30% tax credit on the new AC/Heating unit. So I guess I will call around tomorrow and see how soon I can get it installed.

We are just bundling up in the evenings now. I think being cold is what is really my problem.

Anyway, I'm hoping to be back to my old chipper, positive self tomorrow.

                And counting carbs and calories....

how are you doing Sunny? Things better now than earlier -- I hope so!!

After mom's eye appointment we went to Trader Joe's because I wanted to look around to see the foods I've been hearing everyone talking about -- I got a package of uncured bacon and also uncured all beef hot dogs....got both home (mom was wanting to hurry) and they both had sugar added....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I'm so bummed about it. We had the hot dogs tonight and tell you the truth the Nathan's tasted better than these and the price was about the same. There is no need for me to go out of my way for Trader Joe's again.

Took Greg to get his sunglasses today -- we got a call that they had come in. He says it really helps in front of the computer so it was worth the extra money. He works from home tomorrow so that will be the 1st real test for him.

I have to go get his meds tomorrow so while I'm out I'll go get a few groceries for the weekend. I ate another 2 spears of asparagus out of the garden tonight - they tasted wonderful! That is probably all I'll get this year -- a total of 4 spears, but that's ok - I just planted them last year. I need to plant another bunch of them this year -- maybe some year I'll have enough to have them a couple times.

I am extremely tired tonight and need to get to bed. Another early morning -- the new microwave is being installed tomorrow morning so I need to get up and make sure everything is in order before they get here.

                  Have a great Atkins day

It was just downright hot today -- 90 degrees by noon and by 5:00 it was down to 88....wow - big change! It's 11:30 and the house is finally starting to cool down. I could have given in and turned on the air...but we have been shut up all winter, it's nice to have windows open now. All the ceiling fans are on, no un-necessary lights are on and the windows are all open. There is a nice cool breeze starting to come in the windows...I just hope it cools down enough to sleep.

It's the weekend but the hubs is on call for the weekend so tomorrow he has to be up and on a conference call at 8:00 a.m. bummer because I wanted to sleep in. Guess I'll have to try and get a nap.

I mowed the backyard this afternoon (yes in that heat) because with all the rain we've had and now the warm temperatures the grass is growing so quickly. I sprayed the front yard for dandylions (sorry Sunny - we didn't eat them or make coffee out of them - I killed them!! -- I know, city girl!!) so I couldn't cut the lawn out there until tomorrow.

I made a turkey burger for dinner tonight with fried radishes, a tiny salad and broccoli...it tasted as good as it was colorful! We talked to my brother & niece via Skype after dinner. They wanted to know how mom was doing and my brother wanted to see her. He had never used Skype before so it was nice for him. I'm hoping he might think about letting a few moths out of his billfold and put out a few bucks for a web cam so we can talk that way more often. My oldest niece also needs on but she's graduating from college May 8 so she can buy her own!

I really need to get to bed

It was hot here, too. Was so glad when the sun went down. It has cooled down nicely tonight.

About all those wonderful little edible lawn weeds.... my daughter used to tell me that she felt guilty every time she mowed her yard.

That's okay... if I didn't live in the country, I would want a perfectly manicured lawn, too!

I am not doing well on the diet. I have felt completely exhausted for a couple of days to the point I felt seriously depressed and didn't have energy to get off the couch. I just can't exercise strenuously, and am trying too hard to keep up with everyone else. At 61 (in May) that is probably not a good idea. So I have done two days without counting carbs or calories and eating everything legal in the house. So I've gained a couple of pounds. But I do feel so much better.

I think it is the discouragement of losing so slowly. I am still wearing the same size I started at, only they aren't painfully tight now. No one can tell I have lost weight except hubby.

Anyway, I will be back on the wagon again tomorrow.

I did fix Linda's mockafonia last night. It was wonderful and Ron was crazy about it. But I ate two helpings.

I thought you were going to visit your girl friend this weekend. Are you spending tomorrow night with her?

Hi and good morning bright Sunny lady!!! I wish this was my weekend away, but it's a "future weekend yet to be determined".....too soon after mom's surgery to go now - I'm the eye drop giver 3 times a day for the next 4 -5 weeks - then June 8th is the 2nd surgery so that will be another 5 weeks.....Deni said end of summer maybe early Fall would be best for her and I think she's also thinking that Wanda's mom may be gone by then and she would be able to come along. It's funny that Deni & Wander (that's what I called them growing up) live in the same town but rarely see each other and hadn't talked for years....but Deni came up with this idea & knew I also talked to Wander, so she made the effort to go to her house and talk to her to invite here before she even said anything to me......Wanda needs someone to be there close for her & Deni knows what she's going through so I'm hoping it gets them close again!! I told Deni to bring the senior annual so I can see what everyone looked like when they graduated -- that's always a good laugh!! I said I'd get the room - that way I can make sure there is a kitchenette so I can cook good food!!

I won't be going anywhere if the hubs work doesn't settle down....it is being hinted that there's a shakeup coming....I just hope he can survive again!

I understand the feeling of loosing so slowly -- if I'm lucky I may get a pound a week...I'm sure I could cut more food out but then I'm not any better than being on any other diet. There are days I just can't force myself to exercise - especially lately -- I'm lucky to get a small walk in and it's only because Sadie sits by the door with her sad little eyes begging to go out. I rode 5 miles before dinner last night because I felt guilty and had every intention of getting back on after dinner but it was just too hot and I was too tired from mowing the backyard in the heat so I gave myself a little slack. That 5 miles was harder than when I first started....I felt like I was going backward.

There seems to be so much whining here lately about everyone getting their feelings hurt .... I saw a couple of your replies yesterday -- you were right on! It just amazes me that people come here, demand everything and get upset when someone asks if they have read the book. It's obvious they haven't because the easiest of questions have them boggled - I read all the stickies I could until my book got here then I sat down and started reading so I did this right. I don't want to fail, it's too important with my diabetes that I get the weight off. I'm not on a 30 day loose 65 pounds - this is something I have to do correctly, like you.

It is hard to listen to younger people who are loosing so quickly and whine about not loosing enough quick enough - they want a quick fix and will be back to either this or some other diet in a few months or by next year....when I get to my goal I don't want to throw away everything I'm working so hard for - I want to continue this WOE and keep my weight off - not gain it all back and come back to do it again. I've been down that road too many years. I know I'm rambling!!!

I'll stop fo rnow -- I need to get off this chair and get something done! Laundry is calling my name.

Wishing your hubby all the best in keeping his job. Those rumors are so upsetting sometimes!

I realized something during the time I was not watching my food quantities. I NEED times like those. I feel like a new person after eating what I wanted (on plan) for three days. Now I'm happy to buckle down to counting and measuring again.

I long since made the decision that I would eat this way for the rest of my life. So I am not even tempted by bread, sugar and potatoes. It is limiting the quantities so that I can lose weight that I struggle with. So I've decided I'll watch the quantities for two week stretches, then give myself 3 days to eat larger, unmeasured quantities, then back on track. I think that will keep me from having those periods when I feel so bad.

Yes, I get so weary of the younger ones complaining that they've ONLY lost 20 pounds in a month... or that they've gone three whole days without losing. But I think a lot of them are so used to instant gratification that if their (unreasonable) expectations aren't fulfilled on schedule, they feel wronged.

I am to the point I just ignore a lot of the silly questions that prove people don't have the slightest interest in understanding this WOE. The ones who care will read and understand... the others probably won't last long.

It's pretty easy to pick out the ones who really care and who are totally committed.

I am just amazed at Kerianne's dedication in the face of agonizingly slow losses. We started at the same time and have lost just about the same amount of weight. She is a trouper!

I STILL haven't gotten back out to the garden again. It is blistering out there right now. Around 6:00, the sun will go behind the trees and I'll have shade to work in for 2 or three hours. That will be my exercise for today.

Well, I finally got out into the garden at 6:00 and worked two hours. I spread compost, fertilized, and planted yard long beans (including innoculating the planting holes so I should get maximum production), more radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash and more green onions.

I didn't get around to planting the impatiens. They will have to wait until Monday now because I have to get some more compost first.

I feel so wonderful this evening. Have been very happy with what I've eaten today. We had fried chicken, collards from the garden, and pumpkin for dinner tonight.

Good for you Sunny --- you sound happier today. It sounds like you had quite a full day in the garden. We went and got 5 bags of garden soil to replace what we lost over the winter (cats digging, Sadie digging, grrrrrrr) each bag was 1-1/2 cubic foot so I got them from the car to the garden plot and threw them in - bags and all. I need to get them out of the bags tomorrow but after I moved them my strength was zapped so I quit. I walked 3 miles today -- should have done more but I figure it's the weekend I need to take things a little easier.

I have a load of laundry in the washer & one in the dryer....then I'm off to bed. I normally sleep in on weekends but the hubs was on call for work and had to be on a call at 8:00 this morning (which means I get up an hour earlier to get him up, get the coffee and make breakfast before he goes downstairs to "go to work".

I cooked a spaghetti squash for dinner, made a red sauce with 2 oz of hamburger and had "spaghetti" and a salad for dinner with green beans - it was delicious! Each time I have spaghetti squash I like it better. I had never had it before Atkins...another thing new I have tried!

Hope you have a great Sunday
                              Carole

I had tried spaghetti squash a couple of times pre-Atkins, but it wasn't a big deal then.

Now it's a super treat! I am going to grow them this year. They keep for a long time.

My poor little garden is wilting in the heat. Got to get out and get some water on it!

Will work on the impatien bed -- finally -- this evening when it cools down a little.
