the iris are beautiful!!! I saw Sunny comment about my iris on the stallbusters thread and had no clue what she was talking about...LOL!!! I need to read my threads more often!

Thank you - they are beautiful!! I have a small iris bed in a corner and hope they come up again this year as pretty. My favorite is the purple bearded iris like the ones you sent!! Thank you

I need to get my tax info together. I have been procrastinating as hard as I can, but do need to get it done. DH said we can go camping after we get that taken care of.

Sunny I go months without doing anything more than I need to just to get by -- then I wake up one morning and it's like I'm on a mission to get everything done in 3 days....LOL!!!

I must say by walking everyday it made it much easier to mow the lawn yesterday -- usually I huff and puff the first few times but I just got out there and acted like I've been doing this every week - it felt good!

            I also work in bursts.

I have not exercised in three days due to being sick, so today will ease back into it. I plan to work in the garden today. Am wanting to get all my earth boxes weeded and ready to go. I may get around to planting the rest of the gladiolas, too.

don't overdo Sunny -- work up to it slowly or you'll be back in bed! I'm taking a nap this afternoon because I feel mom's cold or whatever she has coming and I'm going to try and keep my strength up. I don't need to get sick now! I'm just getting over that darn virus and still don't feel 100%.

It's suppose to start raining here anytime - the wind has been howling constantly since yesterday - this weather is suppose to blow through here by mid evening and colder but dryer weather is on the way. The yard looks so good since I was able to get it mowed yesterday (didn't do my sinus' any good!!). This will be the second rain since I fertilized last week so I'm hoping for a beautiful lawn this year.

                Re: Another 50+ member

Well, I worked for 2-1/2 hours, but it was easy work. Very little heavy stuff. I got all the earth boxes weeded and ready to plant with new potting soil and compost (except one that I have to move), got the collards and rosemary planted, and weeded other areas where the chickweed is determined to take over again. Sure wish my crops were as vigorous as the weeds!

I was looking at my little 1" high radishes today with my mouth watering... just dreaming of when they are ready to harvest! I am so frustrated with how slowly the other greens are growing. They, too, seem to be stuck at 1". And my green onions didn't come up. I think I will buy new seed and replant them.

I didn't get the gladiolas planted. Maybe tomorrow.

You have really been exercising hard, Carole. I read that too strenuous exercise can weaken the immune system. I think that is what happened to me with the tonsil infection and then the cold.

Don't let the nasty weather get you down. And I bet your yard is going to be picture perfect!

I had the best intentions of staying under 1400 calories today. But then I fixed parmesan fried chicken. I had worked up an appetite in the garden today and ended up eating 8 ounces of chicken!

Needless to say, my calorie budget was blown through the roof. Maybe tomorrow.

                  Re: Another 50+ member

Sunny -- I wouldn't worry about the parmesean chicken blowing your calorie budget -- it's good fat! You worked hard today and got a lot of fresh air so that much should account for something - you were moving not setting still all day.

You'll have to take pictures of your garden to share!!

looking like dirt is good!!! 2 days ago I ordered potato bags....something I saw in one of the gardening magazines that come in the mail....you plant your potato eyes in these fabric bins and they claim you can get up to 13 pounds of potatoes per bin....it takes no room from my garden so I'm hoping they work...

Of course last year I tried the topsy turvey tomato things and that was a disaster....we got 3 small tomatoes out of them....I kept the poles and threw the bags away at the end of the season!

Here is my asparagus...can you find it??? LOL!!! There's also a picture of one of my rose bushes (I have 5) and my little garden that produces a lot of veggies. I need to weed the garden AND turn it over....haven't done that yet

that fence SHOULD look nice....last year the old one literally fell down into the yard of the neighbor behind us....we had no choice - had to get a new fence...so $3,000.00 later that is what we have......that's why I didn't get to do any landscaping last year -- the fence took precedence over anything else.

Can't take pictures of the garden today.... It's POURING. Also the rain has beaten down the mint and it is looking pretty scraggly.

We have gotten almost 4" of rain already.

I spent almost the entire day working...and it felt good. I did 6 loads of laundry, mopped the kitchen & 2 bathroom floors. Mom has bronchitus so she is mainly in bed and up a few minutes at a time. I made vegetable beef soup for her and DH because it's cold and because it's something I knew mom would eat.

I kept out some of the roast beef from the soup and had it for dinner tonight, along with a salad and the end of my fried cabbage from the other night. It was a wonderful dinner!!

We are under a severe winter weather advisory -- we are suppose to have up to 4 inches of snow tonight....I mowed on Monday and 6 days later it's suppose to snow...ridiculous!

Carole, how is your weather? Hope you aren't having a power outage or other problems from the storm.

Just wanted to tell you... I have adopted your suggestion of eating 1 ounce of meat dipped in mayonnaise when I am hungry between meals. It works!
