  • Re: UK!

Im thrilled to tell you that I stuck to the plan like glue and lost 6lbs this week, an excellent kick start. Im glad I started last week instead of waiting until I go back to work next week.

Has anyone cooked with soya flour?

When I say that my timezone is London in the User CP part it thinks it is two hours earlier than it actually is...what is with that? I've adjusted to GMT + 2 and now it is the right time but...shouldn't it just be GMT or because of British Summer Timer GMT + 1? Hmm...

                        Hi all,
I found this board a couple of days ago. I have done low carb/atkins before and lost3-4 stone. I have put it back on during pregnancy so am now sedt to lose it again.
I have a bit of a query.....both of the previous 2 times I did low carb I subtracted the fibre from the carbs which I now find is wrong yet I lost weight (first time I lost about 2 1/2 stone in 6-9 weeks...)....and i def went into ketosis as did dip sticks.....v purple
How so? I mean I was/am eating crackers with what must be 27g of carbs...(27g carb, 42g fibre...which I always thought a bit odd but just thought great I can eat this )
I'm not really doing induction by the book but am limiting to 20g of carbs (but this is with carb-fibre)...I had lost 4lbs since monday (which I know is prob water).
SHould I stick with how I've been doing it until I hit a stall.....as it worked before?

(today I ate-bacon, asda sausagex2, 2 eggs, mushrooms (about 6), cheese, crisped pepperonni, salad leaves, caesar salad dressing, 4 cherry toms, little bit of red pepper; some almonds, walnuts, hazel nuts, chicken, whole grain mustard about 5 more mushrooms, 2 leeks stuffed with stilton, wrapped in bacon, green beans, mustard and cream sauce, rhubarb stewed down with whipped double cream which had some sweetner added (1-2 carb worth), some almonds (20 ish) and chunks of cheese plus water, some fizzy pop and a small G&slimT.)

                        Any insight would be fab,
                        Rach K

                          Hi Rach

Welcome to our little corner of ADBB!

The problem I see with not following induction rules is that it is difficult for anyone to give you advice on 'tweaking' menus should you find yourself not losing weight.

Your menu looks great for somone eating at about rung 5 of OWL food-wise.

As you know the nuts, gin and crackers are not induction 'legal', so could cause you problems and will probably skew your induction loss results making any reference to the chart in DANDR to find your metabolic resistance to weightloss meaningless.

Also drinking alcohol will probably delay weightloss while your body uses it as a 'preferred fuel' and maybe stores any extra fat instead of burning it!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

                            Hi,
thanks for the reply Since posting I've 'done' induction properly and have lost 10lbs in week 1 ....so I can def stick it for another week then begin to introduce some more carbs...these are via low carb veggies and nuts aren't they?

Is there a specific UK edition of the 2002 plan. I have an old book and was a bit confused which new one to order online. I'm on day 5 of my induction - I say mine, because I'm not sure now whether the two inductions are the same!! Are there huge differences between the two versions of the book?
                              thanks
