    Re: UK!

    Elizellen, RichT -

I am so disappointed to hear that the magazines aren't doing so well over here. Have been looking for ages now to find something in that vein - do I have to consider asking our American fellow-losers to recommend any that are there that would be worth subscribing too from here?

I'm sick of all the other 'slimming' magazines I see as so much of what they seem to be promoting is completely at variance with the way I live my life now. And as for Gillian McKeith and 'You Are What You Eat' don't get me started! I can just imagine what her opinion of Atkins is.... Grrrr

Funny how the magazine associated with her programme seems to be available just about everywhere you turn these days!

Too true, Liverlady!! And it doesnt cost us a penny either!! (apart from the occasional donation to the board of course)

I am glad you are back - I wondered how you were doing.

Just thought I'd say hi as I'm another UK'er. I live in the Scottish Highlands at the moment, but have only been here a year or so as I moved up from Uxbridge... I've been really inspired by everyone so far - and Elizellen you're pics are amazing - and i'm very jealous you live in Bournemouth too. If I could live anywhere....

            Hi Jen

Yes - we are lucky to live here. After this halfterm week is the best time to go down to the seafront as there will be very few 'tourists' around!! I love to be by the sea and not feel hemmed in by crowds of daytrippers.

Dont forget the clocks go back tonight
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
              he said, 'Don't count calories.'

I completely understand that, I live by the sea too - but its just 600 miles too far north from my family and friends (a lot of my family live in the New Forest), and and it's a bit chillier up here

It always amazes me how soon the night 'draws in' once we change the clocks.
Today down here on the south coast of England it was already DARK at 5 pm!! I am sure last week it didnt get dark till at least 7 pm.

it's wretched isn't it... it was dark at 4.30pm here yesterday and its going to get worse - it always makes me feel really tired and lethargic.

Oh well, I suppose we could live in Alaska, that would be much worse

                            Hi Deborah
I did a quick google and found these sites
                            http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...nitine+UK&meta=
It looks as if there are several mailorder companies selling it.

Have you asked your local healthfood shop? They might have it too. I havent looked for it but often my local shop is cheaper than online shops once you account for the p/p.

Thanks for that Elizellen. I spoke to a pharmacist in Boots and she told me that back when Atkins was 'all the rage' to quote her then they used to get lots of people coming in with lists from the book of the supplements that had been recommended but that they haven't had queries like that in a while, what with people not doing Atkins anymore....

                              ::raises eyebrows::

So I know not to try Boots for that one! Will see the health-food people on Saturday which is the earliest time I'll have to get up to see them.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

I bring my lunch to work every day in a little insulated bag with one of those blue freezer bricks in it. Stays cold beautifully until lunch time (and I am in a HOT climate here) and the brick is still half frozen when I get home. AND - I got the bag for 50 cents at the Op SHop! This may solve your problem.

                                Cheers, Odille from Oz

I tend to bring my breakfasts and lunches into the office and that helps considerably but if I'm attending those meetings it's far more difficult to plan as I may be travelling distances and not have access to a fridge.
