Do something nice for yourself - add new ideas

One thing I learned last time was the importance of treating myself to something nice FREQUENTLY. If I was a wealthy STACked person, I'd be swimming in facials, massages, manicures and pedicures. Alas, I'm not.

So here are some cheap things that do wonders for the soul:

    1. Go to one of the makeup places in the mall (Sephora, MAC, etc). Ask them to do a makeup lesson on you. Sometimes you have to schedule an appt, other times you can just walk in. A trained professional will give you a makeover and teach you how to apply your makeup for FREE! You'll leave looking gorgeous and there's no obligation to buy a thing!

    2. Get a pedicure. I don't know about where you are, but actually here in California, you can get them for $15 to $20. It's amazing what lovely toes will do for your self-esteem. Not to mention getting your feet massaged.

    3. Have a tea party. You can invite your kids, or a friend, or do it all by yourself. Use decaf tea (there are SO many flavors) and make yourself a little plate of treats. Serve in an elegant way (the kids love this!) A nice plate is: 1 cloud, 5 olives, artichoke heart, flax cracker with melted cheese or brie. Put on some nice music (I tried Van Halen once and it just wasn't the same, so I stick to classical for the tea parties!), a nice outfit, and perfume. Sit outside if you can, or in a nice place in your house.

    4. When all the kids are asleep (this is critical!) make yourself a bubble bath. Light some candles. Put on music. Soak. Lather yourself afterwards with fragrant lotion. Paint your toenails. Seduce your hubby if the mood strikes you!

    Any more ideas?

    GREAT ideas!!! :clapping :clapping :clapping

I love pedicures! I've had one, the day I got married. They really are pretty cheap and they make even my short stubby toes look great! :nod

There is a Merle Norman in one of our malls. They gave me a free makeover a few years ago. I did buy some makeup but didn't really like it. I should go again and see what they can do with my (older) face!

More ideas? How about going to Victoria Secret and actually buying something. They have more than skimpy nighties. I love their perfumes, body lotions and lip gloss. Sure they cost more, but that's what makes it a treat, right?

I reward myself with "me" time. Meaning, I'll take an entire day (or maybe weekend) and be totally selfish. Yes, my hubby supports this! I'll do whatever I want to, within reason of course. Sometimes I'll spend the day shopping just for me. Sometimes I'll drive for 2 hours to go gambling. Sometimes drive up the mountains and sit on a blanket and stare at the clouds all day.

You are only limited by your imagination!

I know this is kind of lame, but i have this thing about drinking my water out of pretty glasses, mugs etc. I treat myself to a new one about every week, seems to make that water go down better, and i get excited to use it! LOL don't take much to make me happy! I work for the Gov't and have crappy hours, so not much time to shop or do a lot of pampering! Believe me, when i'm at work, I look like crap! Maybe thats why i've still got the blahs! :nod
so on that note....i'm off to work! Hope everyone has a great day!
      happy losing to us all!!

That's not silly at all! I drink water out of bottles all day, (constantly refilling, constantly peeing!) but at night, I have a beautiful large cut-glass goblet that I use. I put in ice and a clice of lime or lemon, and it makes me feel good.

A simple way I treat myself is to take a long bath at night and read a book. With 2 little ones, i don't get out much but this is usually enough to help me relax and it really is a treat.

As for drinking water, I put just a tiny tiny bit of crystal light lemonade in every cup, helps it go down more easily.

This is going to sound bizarre, but I love to go to the self-serve car wash. It's one of my monthly treats, lol

Did you know that Supercuts will wash your hair and give you a deep conditioning protein treatment for only 10 bucks?

I did it the other day. Wow. They give you a great head massage when they shampoo, and when you leave, your hair feels SOOO soft and silky! THis is going to be a new treat on my list......

i love books, candles and incense. i live in a small town far from all the places i go to get that stuff. so every saturday (if i can) i make it a point to go to this really awesome store called the magick cauldron to pick up incense and look around. then i go to the bookstore and get a book. there is also this awesome candle factory that has candles that smell so great, but at really reasonable prices. they always have deals. i don't spend much more than $20 or $25 per adventure, but i feel good about buying that kind of stuff than to buy ice cream, chips and queso and tacos like i used to.

Debbie - what a GREAT treat! I'm jealous!

Magenta - I'm a big "scents" person, too. I love to use linen spray on the sheets and blankets, light some cancles (I particularly love tuberose and orange blossom), and just relax! I also have a sound machine and I can turn on wave sounds and feel like I'm at the beach.

I treated myself to a new bathing suit today as a reward for a successful start to induction. I gave up a very long time ago on a nice hard body to put into a suit and feel comfortable in a suit again. There is always someone who looks worse than I do and besides, swimming is EXERCISE. And good exercise at that! No more sitting on the sidelines reading a book in my shorts and t shirt.

Make up is always a nice treat. I was always a make up queen and got out of the habit of buying new products so it is fun going shopping with my daughter and picking up new stuff when it is time for a reward. A nice thing is good perfume too. I love perfume.

I go yard sale shopping every saturday. Even if I don't find anything for myself it's just fun to get out and not spend much.
