    Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

    Hi Deb from another Deb!

Welcome to the board! There is so much support here, it will blow you away!

Sounds like you're moving quite a distance. When you're travelling, remember to pack legal foods like string cheese, cheese, salad items, etc. You probably know the drill but if you need ideas, here we are!!

Good luck on your move! We look forward to more posts from you!

        Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

Hum...I can sum up why I went off last time -- I'm a carb addict. It was like an unnatural craving once I started eating fish with breading, etc. I went off an extended Induction last time because I got a job where my boss buys us lunch several times a week. Well, that first week I thought I'd eat the fried fish...a little breading...and BAM!! It hit me really hard. I did feel like an addict and after I gained the weight I lost plus some, I'm back nine months later (& sad that I wasn't more prepared and committed).

Anyway, I have to live and avoid them until I make this a habit and commitment for life. I'm here again because I know I have to do this to be healthy.

Not really! I dislike changing inches to meters? grams? I don't know. I have to go back to the mybodycomp.com website after I find out my measurements. More thinking, when I could be answering my e-mails from my other accounts.
          Thanks.
          THANK YOU

            Hello,

I am brand new to the forum, and this is my second time on atkins.

It looks like I found the perfect place to get the support I need to stick with it this time.

Thanks for all the helpful tips in this thread.

            Thanks,
            Jon

Just started Atkins again, lost 40 lbs last time.

If I fail this time I am considering lap band
so I hope I can keep it off this time.

I have slipped many times in the past. I got very bored with it as all I ate was meat, eggs & cheese!...now I'm ready to take it on again! I think in the past I was just too lazy to check out the recipes!..There are countless recipes for induction & on-going, more than I ever thought!..Tomorrow 09/17/05 will be my restart. Jo

                  Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

My commitment to myself is to try to check into this site at least once a day. The inspiration and motivation is outstanding. It makes me realize while I may be the biggest fish in this sea that I am not the only little chubby fish in the ocean. Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts and ideas. I make a vow to myself to start exercising. I know, I know, you are not doing Atkins if you are not exercising. I promise to officially be "doing" Atkins starting tomorrow morning. It helps me to write absolutely everything down from what I ate, to what I drank, to what my goals are for the week, month or year. Write it down it makes it concrete and no longer abstract.

                    Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

Well, this will be my third time around and there are a lot of reasons why I relapsed. I was struggling so much with cheating and had gained weight back therefore figured what the heck it's hopeless. Another reason is I started a new job and we have pot lucks and luncheons that are not Atkins friendly. I feel ready to recommit myself to eating low carb however, have NO motivation to start exercising again. I have friends and family that are supportive of other things in my life but they are not supportive of this, as a matter of fact they look down on it. I won't be able to post daily but hopefully weekly. Thanks for this thread.

                      Welcome back Kerry!

It is hard to commit to something that you feel you have no support on.

But the good news is that you have LOTS of support here for you each and every time you stop by.

Come as often as you can.......... especially thru your induction period and hang in there. You can do it!! I know you can!!

                        great post...
someone said to...find out why u failed last time....
i think the reason i started slidding back into my old habbits was that i changed bf's and althoguh that was a good thing and my choice, i didnt have the constant daily support of talking abou it anymore.... but now i want this again, i lost 80lbs and gained 1/2 of it back, i want the other 1/2 gone again and then some...

Sorry for needing to ask this but what do DANDR and pm mean? I ordered 3 Atkins books (used) from Amazon as I think I must have tossed the ones I had. I hope DANDR is one of the ones I ordered, lol.

All the points you listed sound like great advice. I used to bike ride a lot, but my tires are flat as pancakes now. I'm going to take my bike to the repair shop and get 2 new tires this weekend. Hopefully I can make a commitment to exercise. I have my son's weight bench here....no excuse for not using it...except laziness. I severely injured my knee several years ago, so exercise is a killer, but I understand I need to do something.

Does anyone have any opinion about the new exercise place called Curves? They're popping up all over south FL. Good, bad, anything?
