    Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

    Hi umscats
DANDR is 'Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution' we use the 2002 issue here.

pm is 'private messsages' which is a feature where you can send and receive messages from members on this board without using your usual email programme. You can access that either from your control panel ('User CP' link on the blue links bar) or from clicking on the 'Private messages' link just below the 'Welcome umscats' message at the top right hand side of the screen.

You can set up your options in the control panel section to be advised by email of any pm's you are sent if you want it.

I will send you a pm so you can see what they are like.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Actually this is my third time. Lo-Carb has been the only way I have been able to ever lose weight so I know it works. I will keep your tips in mind as I go Day-3 into Induction!
Last time I bombed and started eating everything in sight after a weekend with unsupportive family (though I take complete responsibility for my failure) and hopefully this time around with this forum it will be a permanent way of life. Thanks for being here.

          Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

i have been skipping all over the adbb, looking for what i need THIS TIME.
          here it is.
NOW i can remember what happened both of the last times i faded away.
2 words. wedding cakes. used to make them out of my home. i have a great rep and it was just so hard to say no when people called and begged. guess what. i'm not the only cake baking fat lady in these parts and i am saying goodbye to that career forever.
i also used to bake for my kids when they wanted a treat (which thankfully doesn't happen too often) but now they are old enough to throw a bunch of cookies or whatever together for themselves.
i used to put myself at the bottom of the list (a totally mom thing) for lots of stuff, including grocery shopping. now, good cheese, MY favorite salad dressings, strange and wonderful vegetables -- you get the picture -- i am 53 years old, too young to be this fat and throwing my life away.
boy, somebody's got herself an attitude this a.m..!

thanks for listening to my rant

              Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

Hi Roberta I have been lurking in this website for some time now and been too wary to post. Mainly because I dont know how to put all that information on that you all seem to have underneath your posts and the fancy avatars. But I just read your post and it really stirred me into action. I too am 53 and I weigh 234lbs. My whole life seems to revolve around my children. I have two foster daughters aged 13 and 14 and one son still at home aged 14. I also run a business from home "Cats Whiskers Quality Childcare". This means that I spend most of my time either sitting down or crawling around the floor playing with and educating pre-school children during the working day and then in the evening I am either sitting on my backside watching TV whilst I keep an eye on the kids or driving the kids all over the country to their various hobbies and passtimes. Hubby Terry is great support because he has been on Atkins for two years now. He lost 105lbs really quickly at the start and has only put back on about 10lbs and that because he likes his glasses of wine and has stopped most of his exercise. Me, I was 273lbs initially and dropped to 219lbs also pretty quickly but Terry works away all over the world designing and building ships and I fall into bad habits without him there to watch over me. I start eating what the kids have....pizza, fish and chips and tubs of ice cream. Also when I am alone I start snacking and dont know when to stop. It came as a quite a shock to see that I had gone back up again to 238lbs. So on 7th Feb I swore myself into Atkins mode again. I have been an absolute angel.....no cheats......until today. I got on the scales all excited expecting to see that huge drop that I had two years ago......but no!!!!! I had lost 7lbs. Mega disappointment. But I remembered what I had read on the forum so I ran and got the tape measure.....surely there would be a massive difference.....no...just a drop of 3.5". Oh for the old days of instant results with Atkins. I was so miserable that I ate half a cheese roll, a packet of crisps, a bowl of frosted cereal with milk, and six mini muffins and a plate of potato wedges with mayonnaise. Real pig value huh?!?!?!?!
Ok I am back on track now but still feeling quite miserable about the whole thing.

                Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

                Hello All,
Hate to admit this, but I am back to ground zero, but I am committed to doing it again. I am so disgusted with myself. I did 40 minutes of cardio and have my food planned out. The worst time for me is after dinner - always want to snack. If you have any ideas for induction friendly snacks, please let me know.

                thx

                  Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

I don't know why I can't stay the course on this. It only takes me 3-4 days to start feeling the benefit of this woe and I wonder why I ever stopped. I seem to have trouble sometime in the second week. I guess I don't see the results as quickly as the first time but I need to move past that road block and trust that my clothes will get looser if I just follow it religiously. I love Kkat55 quote "A year from now you would wish you started today..." I wish I had started in Jan. but I didn't and here I am again today. Starting again, but starting with a new positive attitude.

Thanks to all for the many words of wisdom I have found on this board. I need to spend more time here soaking up the good vibes.

                      Hey guys,
I'm restarting atkins on monday. I managed to lose 15 lbs in march when I started atkins. But then there was the Disney trip, a whole week of eating out, I was good the first two days but it was so hard. Now I'm home and I notice I'm still craving. For the most part i've changed my woe. I buy the low carb bread and icecream , and did you know they've come up with sf oreos yumm. If I cheat I try to atleast cheat with lowcarb stuff. I have gained a few lbs and I want to get it in check before it gets worse. Plus I'm going to California in mid June and I want to look my best.

                        Re: ADVICE for new Second-Timers

Hooray for this thread!!!! The last time I was on this website to start atkins was in Dec 05. Instead I did a vegetarian diet, but didn't like how I felt (shakey and never satisfied). I decided to start Induction again (my signature doesn't reflect the change yet cause I am waiting to see if I get accepted to Bootcamp). I need all the help and support when it comes to losing weight.

I lost 30 pounds and regained it because of a badbreakup and domestic violence. I love Atkins i tried Nutrisystem 2 weeks ago sent it back it was horrible. I pray i will have a good year and I also have joined Overeaters Anonymous. This time i am going all the way!!

What is helping me is being prepared. Working and having lunch used to be my downfall but now I make sure before I leave each morning I either carry my lunch or know exactly where I am going to get my salad. I have also found that skipping meals might work if you were doing low fat but with Adkins I find that in order for me to lose I have to eat. Maybe it is as simple as knowing why we failed before and watching for loop holes, we will see.
