  • Re: Kentucky Derby . . . . . . Keeping on Track

Hey girls! I'm so tired my eyes are crossing. I've been cleaning today (things I can't do through the week because of working so many hours). I then went grocery shopping and pushed a loaded buggy for 3 hours. ODL, my back and foot are aching so bad. However, this too shall pass. I'll post more tomorrow.

Welcome Esteliana! We're not doing an "official" challenge - just personal challenges amongst ourselves but you're more than welcome to join in. These women are phoenomenol (sp?). They are one of the major reasons I keep on keeping on with this WOL.

Everyone have a good night. It's already past 1:00 am here. Like Sunny said, weird weather going on. Today (since it's in the wee hours of the morning) it's supposed to be 59. I don't recall a birthday without a blizzard since my 18th birthday when it was 95 degrees. Good night!

Aww, thanks you guys! =) My name is Bekka, if that makes it easier for any of you. =P I mean, Esteliana is a long name. Hehe.

Just got done with another workout. I think it's getting easier, except today it was a bit hard for me since I did aerobic instead of the weightloss on the treadmill. I don't like inclines, they totally suck and hurt my legs. But, at least I am getting used to it, right? I am so determined to lose all this weight that I will do almost anything for it. I can see myself at my goal weight minus 13 pounds, which makes it 127. But for now, I am keeping it to 140 so I can get to that, and then work on losing those 13 pounds.

Enough about me, how was your guys's weekend and all that awesome jazz?

HEY DERBY GIRLS!! WOW, I've been out of electriciy since early friday morning. I believe my last post thursday night was to Sunny to let her know that my DH and I were on "tree top watch" we were having high winds some as high as 80 to 100 miles an hour. I felt the ground move when the tree fell across the road shutting off power and access to the main road. We were prepared though. I have learned by living in the mountains all my life to be prepared. The good little girl scout that I am. Marty would be proud of me! Anyway, Thursday night I went into disaster mode. Filling up washer and tub for grey water to flush toilets and have water for washing. We had already prepared, by having batteries for light and radio and oil lamps filled with oil. We had plenty of drinking water and groceries. All batteries were charged for dvd player, for movies and games. The propane was filled for cooking. We actually totally enjoyed ourselves and were not missing a thing. Except CONVENIENCES! I have to say I misses each and every one of you and thought of you all, wondering if you were concerned about me or not. Did anyone hear about the storm we were having here? Just curious. I'm just now catching up to the world.

The good news is that I stayed on plan this whole time. With exercise and this way of eating. I gazelled every day and watch my food intake. This is day 11 cheat free days, I believe. I'll go through my journal I keep at home and add up all my minutes that I exercised while I was away and report them later once I get caught up on my stats and journal. I just wanted to let all of you know how much I missed you and that I was o.k and still focused and on plan. Love you all!

Sherri, I wondered where you were since you're a good consistent poster. Had no idea that you were in the path of the storm! Kassoria let us know it was getting bad by her but her power stayed on pretty much.

I had to laugh at the 'filling the tub and washing machine for toilet flushing' - how many times have I done that....city folk don't realize the luxury of running water/flush toilets

And staying on plan and your exercise committment - there oughta be a special award for that - outstanding !

It sounds as though you weathered the storm ok - is your house/property ok? I always dread the 'day after' which is usually chain saws and tractors around here.

                    Glad you check in!

California is calling it the "Storm of the Century", due to so much snow dumbed in the mountains .The storm hit the whole west coast.

I had to laugh at the 'filling the tub and washing machine for toilet flushing' - how many times have I done that....city folk don't realize the luxury of running water/flush toilets Ain't that the truth. It just comes automatic to us folks that have they're own wells and plumbing systems.

And staying on plan and your exercise committment - there oughta be a special award for that - outstanding ! I got a nice candlelight massage last night from my DH. My muscles and bones hurt from all the work. That was a good reward/award for me sticking to plan.

It sounds as though you weathered the storm ok - is your house/property ok? I always dread the 'day after' which is usually chain saws and tractors around here. Our house and property weathered the storm just fine! Thanks for asking. Our home was built in 1940. It has withstood tougher storms than that one. Just alot of limbs to pile up and burn at this point. The storm did kill one local lady when a 80 foot tree fell on her in her car while she was driving.

Your welcome Birthday girl! You were my first post. I didn't want to miss telling you HAPPY BIRTHDAY today. I understand about you not watching the news. I don't read the news paper and the only news I pay attention to is my local news. It was wonderful not watching any news for two days. I did miss you and everyone here. When I was on my gazelle I thought of each of you girls and how hard you're working at getting healthy. When I thought of you and Sunny and the pain you endure with exercise. I pushed even harder with mine. I supose all of you here inspire me one way or the other . I love you all here!

I agree that your face looks fuller with the curls, but I like the way your curls spiral beside your cheeks. Maybe if the curls came down longer and didn't stop right beside the widest part of your face, you could still have curls. Your hair is very thick, too, so it looks like a lot more hair when it was curled.

My daughter's curls were natural and she hated them. I always thought she had the most beautiful thick, long and curly hair. She was a natural blonde, which shows up darker in pictures. She could just bend over and then come up, throwing her hair back, and she looked like she had just been to a salon to get her hair done. When she died, she had straightened it and cut it to shoulder length.
