She buys goods for, wraps, makes up and puts together 100 Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse International Relief. She has to donate $7 per box and that alone costs her $700 per year. That's up and above the cost of toys, school supplies and personal grooming items she puts in the wrapped shoebox. I do 5 boxes, and it takes a lot of effort and money.

I know that's TMI, but I get tired just thinking about all my friend does for people. She's an angel on Earth.

It's pretty warm today (53), but rainy. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 70's and rainy. We really need rain--we are still in a drought.

WOW, What an inspiration. She is DOING ministry, not just talking about it. Making a difference in others lives. Just like you too Ms. Sunny. Bless you both.

Thank you! But--you gotta quit calling me Ms. Sunny, or I'm gonna start feeling like an old maid school teacher! I'm just plain ol' Sunny. I really try to do good for others, but sometimes it is a struggle because of my physical condition. I just pray for God to give me the strength to make it through the day and he never lets me down. He lets me keep on getting out to spread sunshine.

      Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Your story is a lot like mine, except it was my beautiful daughter that died three years ago and I had to give up a high-powered career and all my many side lines and hobbies when struck with a monster disorder called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy 10 years ago. I've now lost over 100 pounds and now am proud of how I dress once again and I do my hair and wear make-up any time I am out in public.

I will reply after a while. I have been cooking all day. I make old favorites low carb and try new stuff to keep from getting bored. I also bake regular stuff for the people in my life. Today, I baked chocolate mint chocolate chip cookies. Lucky I hate chocolate and mint!

          Sunny!
          Thanks for being so welcoming!

It sounds like we all have had our share of sad and hard times that added to our eating disorders. My mom's death this past year has been really hard. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her. (Insert long story here) That is just a chapter of my life.

I have plenty to say, I should write a book. I can briefly say that I was pregnant with my firstborn my senior year of high school and dropped out (1995). Graduated from high school 2 years late (1997). Tried to go straight to college, ended up dropping out to help take care of my mom (her illnesses started around then) and begin work full time. I got a job as a contractor for General Motors, things were going good.

In 1998, my boyfriend and I became engaged, after being together for YEARS. December of 1999, we found out I was pregnant with twins.

At 16 weeks gestation I was told that Twin A appeared to be a healthy male but the female Twin B had some neurological problems. I had the immediate amniocentesis and it was determined that Twin B had Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Infection. The congenital virus had caused her brain to grow at a much slower pace and she was born with severe disabilities.

So here it was, the year 2000. I was only 22 years old; I already had 5 year old and now brand new twins, in which one was special needs. I couldn't go back to work. They categorized my daughter's disabilities at Cerebral Palsy, and my precious angel outlived all doctors expectations.

She was in my life for 2 years 4 months. My beautiful baby girl went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2002. It was the saddest day in my life. She will always be my angel and although I miss her deeply, she knows that I am happy that she is no longer confined to her disabled body or enduring any pain. We talk about her still and have pictures throughout the house.

A few months after that, in 2003 my mom ended up in a nursing home following a hospital stay, and then it was like she never got well enough to come home. My mom was not even 60, but her body was disabled. She was wheelchair bound, an amputee, end-stage renal, on dialysis 3X a week, generally weak and needed assistance for the bathroom.

I tried many times to figure out how I could accommodate my mom at home. I was the one who always took care of her. Now it was beyond my control. My mom was 100% fully competent and I visited her at least 6X a week since 2003.

In 2005 my boyfriend/fiancee of many many years finally got married! May 20, 2005 we made it official in a courthouse ceremony and a restaurant dinner party. My mom attended the wedding and after our dinner party was over, we were taking her back to the nursing home (I was the only one who could get her in and out of the car that she trusted) and my husband and I ended up staying for the Casino Night they were holding, in our wedding attire and all! We had fun, my mom had a blast, she was so happy.

In 2006 my "husband" and I finally gave birth to our first "legitimate" child. Our last installment to our family (I got my tubes tied) was another girl. She was born without any complications and is now 1 1/2 years old and awesome!

My mom passed away in 2007, 16 days after her 64th birthday. She was by far the most intelligent, most funny, most beautiful person I ever knew. I never felt my mom deserved any of the pain or problems she went through, but she never lost her faith! This is assurance to me that my mom is in Heaven with my daughter.

God I could keep going or even go back and give MORE details.

Now to relate it to Atkins...sorry....Through everything over the years, the weight slowly kept adding on and adding on. It was in 2006 when I had my last baby that they had to "estimate" my weight at 370 because the scale didn't go over 350. That was a HUGE wake-up call for me.

2007...I turned 30...I'm still having issues with that...

Thanks to all who listened!!! Please feel free to contact me on here or privately.

Just on quick to say goodnight to everyone. I don't know where the day went. I got up at 6:30 this morning and have been going all day, but didn't seem to get a lot finished. No exercise again today, so I finished the week with 215 minutes of 250. This is not counting the heavy work I did on Saturday or anything, so I don't feel too bad about it.

I have spent way too much time on the computer today. I got caught up in designing a special poster with my new version of Printshop while brain dead and it's has changed in not a good way at all. Makes me wish I hadn't deleted the older version. I am giving up for tonight.

                Sweet dreams!

                Sunny!

Hi ladies, im not a part of the kentucky derby but was wondering if there could be one more added. IM really struggling here and could use the daily support of you all. The only thing is im doing another form of atkins. I think i have an abundunce of yeast in my body just the way my body is acting these days so im going gold standard for awhile and who knows it might be the only way my body can deal with things. So basically all i can eat is a ton of veggies, meat, eggs and olive oil, no dairy, no processed meats. I did this about 2yrs ago when i was on atkins before because i would stay bloated, my skin was awful, and i gave up the dairy and processed meats and my body responded beautifully. I think i have abused my body eneough with yo yo dieting as well. Im desperate now, not to just lose weight but i want to live to see my kids grow up and im on my way to an early death if i dont change my eating habits. I am a binge eater and i do know food is my addiction, so this is something i really have to work on. I know going this strict is going to be real hard for the first couple of days but i do know once i get a few days behind me i will lose all bloatness and cravings. I also could use the support on a daily basis and it seems you all do that here. I have a journal here but it never gets read that much so i thought this would be a better option of keeping in touch with others who are trying to be more healthy. Well i will be back to check in later!!!

Hi Lisa, I'm a recent returning Atkiner, I'm in Day 5 of (re-re-re-re)induction. I have had the same thoughts as you, which is why I'm back not only to Atkins WOL but back to this wonderful and much supportive board.

With that said, see you around, always feel free to talk to me on here, in my journal, e-mail, MySpace, whatever!!! I wish you the best of luck...we can do this together!

                      Talk to you soon!

When my great-grandparents retired, they moved to Brooksville, then when my moms parents retired in the late 70's, my moms 2 sisters and their families moved south with them. My mom and dad couldn't leave because of my dad's work and my mom's hatred of FL heat.

I am going to make a fast post, so y'all won't think I just up and disappeared. I basically wasted yesterday and after going to bed so late and in a lot of pain, I slept poorly and got up exceedingly late. It has come to my attention that I have only four 'work' days, including today to get everything done before the surgery that will prevent me from using my upper body at all for several weeks. I still have to cook a bunch of legal foods and get my house super clean, all laundry done and a host of other things. I am committed to some computer projects and they are time consuming. All of tomorrow will be spent in Charlottesville with the surgeon and at church. The surgery is on Monday and I am so not ready. I really have to stay off the computer and not get tied up in the ADBB. I will respond to a couple of posts I am already involved with, but I have to abstain from the rest.

Welcome Lisa! I just had to do a drastic form of the yeast-free diet, so I can sympathize. It did really help, so it is worth doing. I have to have more antibiotics soon, so I am trying to stay ahead of it this time. I went by the list from "The Yeast Connection" which cut out all tea and coffee, so you could only drink water. I couldn't have anything but lemon juice and oil for salad dressing--no dried spices at all. No condiments with vinegar, which is all of them including mayo. It was hard, but I lived through it.

Okay, gotta go--I love you all!

                                Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
