Hey Derby girls! Really busy at work today, so have just a min to say hello's.

    Happy Birthday Catherine!

Kass-You're kicking butt on those workouts! You're gonna have abs of steel pretty soon

Catrenia-That is an amazing story, it really makes you stop and think about all the times when the little frustrations have masked something much bigger (and better) than we thought.

Sherri-Hope your labwork comes back well. After being up from my starting weight on Monday, I'm back down .5 lb, which makes me feel like I'm doing something right now!

Sunny-You're such a strong person, keeping such a great attitude with everything you're going through. I'm also more than happy to fly out there and threaten some unfit doctors for you!

It's still raining here, and it even hailed/snowed in some nearby towns! This is Southern CA, it should NOT be this cold! lol

      Catherine!

Now, I gotta go do my exercises! I am now thawed out from the hours I put in in the freezing cold at the Food Pantry!

Finished my exercise for today. Not bad: 15 minutes floor exercise, 30 minutes WATP's video--2 miles and 15 minutes on the stepper--tension at 7.

I only got in 105 minutes last week, including the hour shoveling snow. I did a lot of lifting, carrying, moving furniture and house cleaning on several days, but I'm not counting that.

Hope everybody has a great night!

        Sunny!

            Morning and Happy Friday!!!

Does cleaning, laundry, organizing count as exercise? My hamstrings and butt actually are sore today! LOL All day yesterday! I was on a mission and well, I did get some things done and some areas now look worse! LOL Lots of things to go to Goodwill!

Sunny - you can count housework especially if you did it for more than 30 minutes, it is exercise!!!

Pyra - It's our last day of sub-temps... thank goodness, we may even be in the 20's by Sunday! LOL

Kass - my workout buddy comes home from San Diego this weekend, so hopefully we can start out morning workouts. She lives just 5 miles from me and is motivated for exercise also! We ran together a few times last year on the urban trail after meeting through another exercise forum and putting in our cities!

Cat - I do have the camera now, I have to make it a point to take some pictures, it would be good to have some before and afters....great motivators!!!

Sherri - thanks for visiting my journal.. we all are in this together! Congrats on your cheat-free days! How good do you feel!!!!

            Where's Marty?

My dad has cat eye surgery, just one eye this week and the other next week. He is a big reader and plays cards etc so it was really good to see him get this done.

            Ok - I'm working, I'm working.....

              Good Morning Derby Girls....

Its another FREEZING day here (sub zero air temp and KaRaZy windchills) - that walk to the barn in the morning is Brutal

Thanks to everyone for the kind birthday wishes - my day was pleasant. Tonight we're going out to an art opening and dinner with friends.

I broke my scale....accidently....really...not on purpose LOL. So I'm stopping at Target today for a new fangled one. A friend sent me another cartoon:

Ain't it the Truth some days?

I hope everyone is having a great Friday with lots of good food and warm temps. Off and running again

Congrats Sherri on the weight loss!!

Traci, is your dad healing ok. Was it cataract surgery? I've heard that it's like a whole new world after the cataracts are removed (see so much better).

Catherine, I feel your pain. It was 2 degrees this morning. I thought they'd have a delay for school so kids would not be standing at the bus stops in this weather but they didn't. I take Tashiana to school and pick her up from school. I don't trust them.

Kass, I bet you're doing a count-down until your trip. Please take lots of pictures and share (especially if you buy that dress to show off your slamming new figure).

Sunny, how are you today? You're working it with the exercise. I so need to get my butt in gear.

Prya, yes I am so grateful to be alive. I went to work yesterday and found out a former coworker (41) was hit by a druck driver driving a semi truck and it killed her. She has a 13-year-old daughter. Her father had just been diagnosed 3 months earlier with brain cancer. Yes, I'm grateful to be alive and that God felt that I was worthy enough to be left here for the time being.

Sherri, any results yet from your doc? It looks like your weight loss is taking off despite the change in meds. Just imagine what the right dosage of meds will do for you. You'll be skinny in no time.

Marty, are you at work right now? I hope your schedule gets better.

Dorothy and Glenda I hope you had a great day!!

                  • Re: Kentucky Derby . . . . . . Keeping on Track

Just a quick update on my re-surgery. As I was trying to get a patient advocate, the phone rang. I was afraid to answer, thinking it would be the scheduler, calling to set up the in-office surgery with local, and I was going to have to tell her that I wasn't willing to go through that, but it was Dr. Drake, himself.

He said that in reviewing the before and after pictures, he could see where the first surgery did not help me much. He then said that he was not comfortable doing it in his office, because of my RSD and the fact that the equipment was better at the Outpatient Surgery Center (VASI). We discussed this for a while, and he agreed that it needs to be done in the ambulatory outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia, done by real live anesthesiologists. Again, at no charge to me. I have to go to his office on February 6, at 9:00 a.m. so we can sit down and discuss how best to do the surgery over again to make me happy!

Then, on February 11, the surgery will be done for the second time. He won't know how much recovery time I will require until we decide just exactly what he is going to do, but he said I would have the use of my hands, this time. He thinks that I will need to have someone with me for two days and nights. I didn't discuss drains, but I imagine I will have them again. I didn't tell him, yet, but he can leave his Bosch staple gun at home this time--he will be using sutures and glue--just like real surgeons.

I am so not looking forward to having my spring messed up by more surgery, but maybe I will be better in time for gardening and I won't miss so many practices for the Easter cantata. There will be almost 6 weeks between the surgery and Easter Sunday.

I have to add this: My family and I refer to the surgeon as Dr. Quack1 and the doctor that messed up on the nerve block Dr. Quack2. This is a reply that I got to an e-mail from a family member regarding the surgeon, whose real name is Dr. Drake.

Oh, Sunny. I'm just sitting here shaking my head... AND noticing the Dr. Drake/Quack connection... male ducks are drakes, drakes quack, Dr. Drake is a Quack. Of course! Pure logic.

I'm glad this is going in the direction it's going now. Sounds like the light has finally dawned on the duck pond.

                      Good Afternoon Ladies!
Cat, no I havn't heard anything fron my doctor. I have an appt. with him on Tuesday. He may be waiting to go over my results then. It would of been nice to hear something though. So I can be better prepared. I don't like suprises if you know what I mean. You know what they say, "No news is good news" Hope this is that case.
Tracey, your welcome dear. Hey, we all get frustrated. What will it take for you to not get frustrated and go from there. Maybe being better prepared with meal planning or more exercise, (great tension release),I know, to see the scale MOVE! It will dear, just keep on keeping on and it will all happen for you.
Prya, congrats on the weight gone forever hon. Thanks for your well wishes for my lab work.
Catherine, I'm glad you had a pleasant birthday. I love the joke you posted, so cute!
Kass, Thank you dear, did you buy some crab yet? The price was at 3.99 a pound here yesterday too. I'll wait for the first of the month when I have more money to buy some again, Yummo as Car would say.
Sunny, I agree with the ladies here regarding that phsyco doctor. If it had been me I would of slapped a MAL Practice suit on him so fast it would of made his head spin. He wouldn't even be practicing. He'll be touching you over my dead body Back off Jack! I love you Sis, I'm sorry this happened to you. I like how you are proceeding. I'm proud of who you are, such a beautiful person inside and out! Love you
Marty, where you at? Don't make us come looking for you again

Grrr I just lost a whole long post! Dratted mouse! I'm not going to type the whole thing over, so I'll just give a synopsis.

I got a very late start on my exercise, but I got-r-done! 15 minutes floor exercise, 30 minutes stepper, 30 minutes weight training with 5-lb. weights.

I got a little bummed thinking about the surgery coming right in the middle of our challenge and it will be many weeks before I can start back again with the exercise. I will probably have to take my after love handles pictures before the surgery. Dumb doctor!

I am watching a T'ai Chi DVD--I'm gonna learn how to do it sooner or later. It is so hypnotizing, that it is about to put me to sleep just watching.

I did 1 mile jog with Leslie Sansome and 50 squats. Although that pilates video was boring...it worked my but off. I am feeling the after effects. I can barely move my mid section! I may have to be bored again.

Hope all are having a great night. I have been trying to catch up on what been happening in all your lives.

I am loving Curves. The first half of this week DD was sick and I got home late each night, didn't go. We went thurs. and again today. I want to try to make it a every day visit. This gym has just put in tracking system they call smart curves. I have to be trained on the equipment. I'm excited about it. It shows how I am working, how many, how hard, if I am lacking in part of it. I could feel it today.

Kass- You know the charts about blood pressure... I am working in the 85% at full... but the women who was there yesterday said I shouldn't be working in that area??? She told me I need to slow down on the rest stations??

If I don't get back on this weekend, Hope you all have a wonderful couple days. Stay warm and dry all!

Time for confession...I derailed last night but am on track today. Can someone come to Vermont & me around some. Major funkitis occuring which always happens this time of the year for me. Don't want to go through it as it lasts till the end of March...lack of sunlight.

Decided to post my picture. Realized I need to get some new bras for the girls!

                                Have a great day everyone.
