    I had to go to the lymphedema clinic and I now have to wear the type tape that athletes use all over the lymph channels. Really weird looking--big long strips of tape up and down my arm. I have to measure my arm at 5 different places each day. They gave me a neat measuring tool that works one-handed. All of this is hard to describe, so I'll take pictures tomorrow. It appears that I will have to wear ace wraps and compression sleeves for a long time. This is something to consider for those of you that are considering a breast reduction. That's what caused the lymphedema and it's not fun. I have another appointment over there on Monday. At $3.29 a gallon for gas, these 80 mile round trips are bleeding me dry.

    I'm plumb tuckered out, so I'm going to bed to read.

    Sunny!
    Oh my! I hope you are not in any pain. I think I'll hold off on the breast reduction. I finally got a bra that actually holds the girls up (as Stacy and Clinton would say) where they're supposed to be. Did they say how long you'll have to wear them? I'm sending up a prayer for your speedy recovery.

      Sunny, hang in there and follow their instructions to the letter. My mom had lymphadema wraps after her breast cancer surgery and now she is fine but her friend didn't listen and she has problems with lymphadema now. It is worth the aggravation in the end.

        Oh my Sunny, I am so sorry you are having to experience that. I most definitely will take that into consideration. I pray that you will not have to keep the wraps & sleeves on long.

        And Gas, don't you mean "LIQUID GOLD"....lol It's beyond crazy here too but hey we gotta have it so what can we do. Hopefully it will get better soon.

          Good morning my Derby Sisters. I hope everyone is blessed up this Saturday morning. I am good....finally. This stomach episode has not been fun. I am not sure what happened but believe me, it happened....lol It totally threw off my plan. My doctor told me when I went to see her to give my body a break for a moment until my stomach settles. So I have been eating more fruit and yes carb stuff so I have not been on the plan. BUT come Monday, the 14th, I am back at it full force because that will be exactly 4 months before my b-day and I want to be in ONEDERLAND and WILL BE!

          Katie - How are things going with your workout program and your restart? I hope well. Take it one day at a time girl.

          Kass - Today is the day isn't it? I look forward to hearing about your outting. Girl kickback and enjoy that Limo. Push all the buttons...

          Cat - I hope all is well with you, your baby and new love. Have you been working out any or are you too love sick to even think about it?.....smile.

          Glenda - Moving can be a major challenge. Your DD is so blessed to have you to help her. Hopefully she will be settled in soon.

          Chinadoll - Hi and welcome to Kentucky Derby. Thanks for the information you provided.

          Sunny - Again, hang in there. You are such a strong woman.

          I hope I didn't miss anyone. If so, please charge it to my head and not my heart. I too like posting in this thread and hope we can continue to be supportive, honest and real with each other. It really does help having that when you are making a lifestyle change. You ladies are GREAT!

          • Re: Kentucky Derby . . . . . . Keeping on Track

            Good morning everyone! I'm about to start housecleaning and am so thrilled about it. Yep, when I win the powerball lotto a maid will be the first thing on the list.

            Lashon, no I've not been working out. I was doing good until the time changed. Why won't they just leave time alone? I'm sure God doesn't appreciate them messing with it. I was so tired this past week that my body crashed Thursday evening and I slept until 11:00 yesterday morning (which is very rare for me). Hopefully, the Vitamin D will jump start some underlying energy.

            Anyone have any good recipes dealing with beef? I'm so tired of hamburgers. I think I might gag if I eat one more hamburger. I'm just not a meat fan. I'm not particularly fond of chicken either - other than fried. I've got to find something because I can't cave this close to goal. This is about the time on other plans that I self-sabotage. I'm also greatly afraid because I started a new med which they said would probably make me gain weight. Ugh!!! Oh well, I'll deal with it somehow (have no choice).

            I pray you all have a very blessed day.

              Good Morning DGs!

              Waiting for SNOW! Unbelievable. Itching to get into my gardens.
              I am mostly on plan (boy, is that an oxymoron or what?)....TOM is here again and strangely, I've lost a few lbs from my signature weight...very odd. Going to the gym, drinking tons of water and trying to remain hopeful. My day job has been a bear this week and I have to work today as well.

              Our cruise vacation is less than a month away and no, I'm not ready. I've been procratinating about clothes thinking my lb. loss would increase but now I've got to make some decisions and get packing. I need to make myself some long dressy pants for the fancy tops I bought to wear. Haven't sewn to any degree since high school and I guess I'm unsure of myself. I have to make the pants because I cannot find anything dressy that is long enough. Sewing technique has changed so much since the 70's lol.

              Kass - you have a great time tonight at your party

              Cat - I know you're on Cloud 9 - new love can be so intoxicating

              Sunny - you are a trooper with your medical issues. Have you started your gardens or still waiting for Spring?

              Sherri - I'm sure it is gorgeous out by your mountain

              Chinadoll - welcome to the group!

              Liz - bet you're on the cruise having fun!

              Glenda - what a great Mom you are - DD is one lucky girl

              LaShon - glad to hear you're all feeling better

              Katie - how's it going for you?

              ~~~waving to Marty, Prya, Lisa, Kathy, Tracey, Dorothy, and all DGs ~~~~
              As for posting - I try to post once a week here. Some days I'm poor company and just lurk, trying to stay current. Other days the job has me beat and I do good just to eat well, drink my water and take my supplements
              Hope everyone has a GOOD weekend
                            What a day. I am really dragging and I have so much to do. With the wild weather changes, my RSD is giving me a fit. It was 83 yesterday, 76 today and is supposed to sleet and snow tomorrow and be down in the 20's on Monday. I've had to carry my plants in and out of the house so many times that I am ready to let them freeze. I so miss my greenhouse. It's not easy to raise 50 tomato plants, 25 pepper plants and an assortment of herbs in this tiny cracker box where I now live. Some of the stuff is in the ground, so I'll have to cover it up. Lettuces, radishes and some greens can withstand some light frost, but the 20's is a little cold.
                            I went to the Farmer's Market today to get some real eggs and I wanted to bring home a ton of plants. I love that place. I just have to get back out into the country before I'm too old.
                            Cat--have you tried making a beef roast?? That's different than a burger. There's always steak. There's meat loaf. I cook on my gas grill all the time, so I never get tired of meats cooked that way. I've really branched out and am eating all kinds of foods that I never ate before. I've never had curry before, but I am making a chicken curry tomorrow. I made the low carb chutney to go with it a couple of days ago. Never had chutney before either. I got Dana Carpenders cookbook out of the library and another one and I've made several things from both. Now that your mom is gone, you can eat tuna muffins again. You really liked them.
                            The NP didn't say how long I would have to do the treatments, but it sounded like a long time. She mentioned the wraps being hot in the summer. I have to start having Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) soon and some other things. I've had MLD in Victoria, British Columbia, at the Dr. Vodder School, but that was for the neuroinflammation from the RSD.Something has my neurons in an uproar and every one of my movement disorders is making it very hard to function. It's been a while since it's been this bad. The appointment I have on Monday is for RSD and I'm supposed to stop in and see the MLD massage therapist. I hope she is Dr. Vodder School trained. http://www.vodderschool.com/
                            Better start getting ready for tomorrow. I don't want to miss church again.
                                Those are REALLY NEAT! Great work! My hat is off to you. I TRIED taking a sewing class in highschool and was doing fine until we got the machine. They started talking about backstitch, cross-stitch and so forth. I told the teacher, just give me the "F".....lol Seriously I did. My grades were so good in my other classes that - that one class didn't pull my GPA down. Now I wouldn't advise any teens to try that now days. Things have changed BIGTIME since 1986.
