Pumkin soup hugh? Ive heard others say they have had that too-is it good? Never had it...I took FatActressinLA's advice and went to fitday.com and signed up and took the time to enter all the foods-it really helps to see where you are..I read that your fat should be around 65%, protein 30% and carbs 5%. I try to eat meat at each meal personally. You could add some bacon or sausage to breakfast perhaps..good chopped up in the eggs too.

Alimmcat-It really is a good tool! I've been entering all my food for the past three days in there and i'm hitting the percentages just fine! I know sometimes it seems tedious but when it adds everything up for me that's a good trade-off!

Lilith-Pumpkin soup sounds yummy? Recipe please!

Debi-I'm with you, I'm doing this FOR LIFE!

And anyone else I forgot, how is everyone doing?

        Re: Who's Starting Induction 10/15/07

I started typing up a post and acidentally deleted it! GRRRR! Anyway almost 3 days under my belt and finally I'm feeling better carb detox headache is gone. I'll be hitting the treadmill tomorrow! Maybe even tonight! Yesterday for our production mtg/table read I thought was going to be at the dp's loft which is was AFTER everyone met at IHop! LUCKILY I ate beforehand, had a nice juicy porterhouse with some onions and peppers sauteed in butter and some green beans-yummo! So I wasn't hungry and just order some water and a cup of coffee. Now in the past even though I just ate, I probably would've ordered a piece of pie or cake to go with the coffee! So it was nice not to care about food for a change!!! LOL! I haven't stepped on the scale yet but I can tell I've lost something because i can FEEL it. In fact I had a commercial audition today and wore a pair of pants and dress blouse that just a couple weeks ago I tried on and was uncomfortably tight, today it fit me great! So here's to getting through the weekend!!!!

          Re: Who's Starting Induction 10/15/07

Hello everyone! Good to hear everyone is doing so well! I am on the end of day 2 and actually feel pretty good. I used to drink alot of coke so soon the withdrawals from that will hit, not looking forward to that at all!
Instead of chicken tonight I am having some spag bol..... with out the spag! And I will saute' some mushies in butter to get the rest of my veges up.

The pumpkin soup was very basic really, but prob tastes good because the pumpkin was so great. But basically I just cut up 1/2 a pumpkin put it and a diced onion and a swag of olive oil in a big saucepan and cooked it until the onion was clear, then added about 2 cups of water and cooked with the lid on until the pumpkin was soft and then just mushed it with the wand and voila done! I add the cream as I am sefving it. It is really sweet so no need for salt and pepper, but sometimes I do add it if it needs a kick.

              Re: Who's Starting Induction 10/15/07

I am so glad we have this thread going. Also glad everyone is doing well.

Today was a huge day! I broke past a number I haven't seen in years. I moved into the 330's. It makes me so happy... not to mention how great I feel now. I am going to push the water and up my walking today.

              Basically, I am eating:

1 cup ground beef and 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast (sometimes add a little cheese)

1 cup ground chicken and 2 cups cabbage sauteed for lunch.

2 pieces of meat and veggies for dinner to make up my carbs.

For snacks I just eat some cheese or a pickle with some cheese. And I use butter or olive oil to cook or saute.

It is working great for me!!! I am eating much less than day 1 and 2. No cravings at all. Awesome!!!

It is nice seeing a picture where I actually have a neck!

                Re: Who's Starting Induction 10/15/07

I've stalled a bit and my weight has stayed the same for the past three days. I think it's primarily because I just counted carbs without regard to source. I forgot that 12-15 grams of carbs a day must come from vegetables recommended for Induction.

I've always had a strong disdain for most vegetables so this is a real struggle for me.

wnt2b skinny! Way to go! I have lost 5 pounds myself (as of yesterday) and decided to hold out til monday to weigh myself again....I am so excited about this diet, and forum! Its great to have the support you guys, thanks.

Debi 2007! Yipee!! way to go girl. I too am finding that Im not that hungry anymore-but am making sure I am eating...thats one of the issues that got me were I am. Not eating most of the day, then just eating dinner. Messed up my metabolism-so, 3 meals a day for me!

ii1ii-your right-they should come from veggies. 3 cups total (2 salad 1 veggie or 3 salad) Try and incorporate a salad. Maybe a taco salad would be easy? Shred the lettuce, and maybe it wont seem like a "salad". Also, I dont know, but maybe if your not eating enough veggies, you could make it up with a little more cheese? What do you think guys?

Speaking of veggies, according to the online calculator I'm using, it seems that one that is cooked has more carbs in it than one that is raw. I'm assuming thats because the yield is measured differently; am I right.

I've been weighing mine before cooking so I'm not sure which carb count I should use.

You are correct. Veggies raw are less carbs than cooked because of how they cook down. I eat cabbage everyday and I cook 2 cups, but after it cooks it is about a cup. If I measured it cooked I would be doubling my carbs. Does that make sense?

gosh-I understand...thats how Ive been for a long time...but, if you start trying to eat a little something at breakfast, lunch and dinner, soon your body will adjust and want that fuel. You'll find that you will get hungry after time. I started making myself eat lunch (before atkins)-couldnt fathom breakfast unless it was after 10-and now I get hungry and need to eat lunch. And, since starting Atkins, I make myself eat breakfast-where for the past 15 years the only time I did that was on weekends perhaps. One thing for sure that Dr. Atkins says in his book is that you must eat 3 meals a day...I wish you luck!!!
