  • Week of November 19th Atkinites! =)

Time to start a new thread for a new week!!

I can't believe it's been a whole week already and I feel more motivated this time than ever. I wish my friends could understand that I can't get diabetes and they get mad if I kindly refuse anything that's sugary. -sighs- I mean, I know it was my friend, who passed away, favorite thing to drink along with a Western Bacon Cheeseburger, but I can't. I went there to comfort my friends and of course for him, too. I've done good, resisting temptation for the last day. I mean, those cupcakes looked SOOOO good, but I didn't give in. First step in knowing I can do this.

How do you guys feel about being a week in? And tomorrow is the big day where we weigh ourselves. You guys nervous? I'm not, I'm very anxious to find out how much I have lost. I know I have lost some inches, but lets see how many pounds I have lost too! I can't wait. =P

I have another long day ahead of me. 8 hours of work! I work 44 hours this week! That's crazy. I'm glad they actually want to schedule me to work instead of neglecting me hours.

Anyway, it's still early and I have a few more hours until I have to officially wake up. So catch up with you guys later!!! Drink that water!!

I must admit that I am a tad nervous about tomorrow. For some reason I don't feel like I have had huge success. Guess we will see. I am really glad you fought off the temptation this weekend. WE are going to make it this week, we have to. Congrats on losing your first five Mari Rea that is awesome keep it up.

ven if you loose very little or nothing that week, don't give up. There is an explanation for everything. If this happens to anyone, it could be a staller that you have been taking one way or the other.. May be an artificial sweetener (they work differently for different ppl), may be something you are doing that need to be rectified. But plz, under what so ever reason, don't let go. Some ppl loose 10lbs the first week and they loose half of that the 2nd week and some ppl loose 1 lb the first week and then 5 lbs the 2nd week.. It is totally dependent on how your body works and there will never be a rule of thumb here.. Just keep going.

I started 11/13. Checked yesterday (I know, I am not supposed to and already lost 3lbs, I was expecting little more really since I have been cutting carbs like crazy, I usually go close to 16-18 carbs a day just in case I have miscalculation here or there.

Good luck Let us know how it goes!

SO far today has been good, no cheats. I feel really good that I got back on track so quick after my carb overload. Being part of ADBB has helped a whole lot, and i thank eveyone for their support. I decided not to post my menu because im already posting it at fitday. Fitday was tough at first, now it is easier, since i basically eat the same thing everyday. Thats not bothering me. I hope I do good tommorrow on weight day, but i dont know. Will just have to see. I hope everyone does good, and hope everyone makes it over to this new thread.

          Great thoughts
          I wanted to add this:
Some people lose absolutely nothing on their 2 weeks of induction but still go on to reach goal by following the phases of Atkins, so whatever your losses (or even gains ) in these 2 weeks, keep on keeping on
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I could kick myself so hard......
I had been completely cheat free up until this afternoon. I don't know what got into me but I had 3 pieces of chocolate and they were sooooooooo nice.
I hope this is not the start of my self control going for a holiday so soon.
Oh well tomorrow is another cheat free day and the start of my 2nd week.
There you go..... excuse found, I was celebrating my success with a nibble of chocolate bar (not a very convincing excuse is it). I just feel disappointed in myself now.
            Good luck for tomorrow everyone.

Re: Week of November 19th Atkinites! =)

Todd, Glad you are doing well today and have rebounded nicely. This may seem like a crazy question but why did you cheat the other day? Was it the alure of the after carb effects or more along the lines of just missing Chinese foods. How did the food taste when you were eating it? I guess I am asking these questions to try and come up with some kind of idea as to why we do these things. Since we are using the ANA to life there are plenty of good things to eat and we certainly aren't starving ourselves. I just wonder if it is part of the chemical dependency we have developed with refined carbs or if it is a psychlogical thing of wanting what you can't have. I think for me it is a mix of both but there is no question that once I take that first bite I can literally feel that rush in my body and then it is on.

Deb, don't sweat it. I think all of us have had one slip up so far. Just think of it like this, you were just getting your cheat out of the way and now its done and overwith. I am hoping to use my experience with my cheat over the Holiday's to remember how awful cheating makes me feel afterwards. Your making great progress keep it up.

Re: Week of November 19th Atkinites! =)

Good question rancher. For me the chinese food was more of a temptation. I went to lunch with my dad, and he likes chinese food. SO we go to a chinese buffet here in town, And it was there, and i couldnt control the temptation. I didnt eat a whole lot, but i probably ate enough to kick me out of ketosis. I dont really think i would miss chinese food, but i would miss the occasional sweets. I think i could go without carbs, but if a plate of carbs were put in front of me i dont think i would be stong enough to resist. It would be like putting a sixpack of beer in front of a alcoholic so to speak. Hope I answered your question.

Thanks for sharing Todd, I know exactly how you feel. We just need to find a way to stay out of the "bar" which is much easier said then done. A drug addict can go cold Turkey and quit, an Alcoholic gone cold Turkey and swear to never have a drink again but as Refined Carb addicts we can't go cold Turkey because we have to eat. Sometimes I think how great it would be to be able to just take a magic pill once a day that met all of your nutritional needs and kept you full. That way I would never half to eat another peice of food again. Are addiction is no weaker than those of an Alcoholic or drug addict but it is certainly much more complicated.

Re: Week of November 19th Atkinites! =)

Also i really believe that God gave us the gift of self-discipline. We just have to uncover it. The way I see it is during the induction process once we get the carbs out of our system we will find strength again to use our willpower, just like a drug addict has to go through detox, our bodies have to go through a detox of carbs so our bodies will function naturally. There is similiarity in any other addiction. I know for me I smoked heavily for several years. I think they say that after 3 days the nicotine gets out of your system but the temptation will always be there. I am still tempted to pick up a cigarette. I know for sure i cant buy them and have them in my house. But that doesnt take away the temptation. But with the cigarettes it seems like the longer i go without them, the stronger my tolerance and resistance gets. So, saying all that, i would say that we can overcome this addiction to carbohydrates, if we follow the plan Dr. Atkins laid before us.

That is the plan although we are all kind of making things up as we go along though. Thanks for the well wishes, when did you start. Is everyone ready for tomorrow? As long as none of us go up we should consider it a success.

Goodevening you guys!!! What a long long long day! I thought it would never end, but finally I am home and sitting in my chair, relaxing. My legs hurt uberly bad, but that's part of the whole induction flu. No, I am not experiencing any other symptoms. I am cheatfree, yet again today. I almost fell into temptation, but I decided against it.

I sat and thought to myself. Why would I want to fall into temptation when what I eat then will only satisfy me for that one second? Afterwards it will make me feel like crud and make me gain weight. Is it seriously worth that one second of satisfaction, just to mess something up that you've been working so hard for? I'm going to stick to that little motto type thing. I don't want to fall into temptation just to be satisfied for a temporary amount of time. I would much rather lose weight and be satisfied until I die. =)

Okay, so cheatfree day and I've had my water. I am going to be eating dinner, whenever its ready and then I think I'll call it a night. -.-

How are you guys doing today? I can't wait til tomorrow to see how much I've lose and how much you've guys lost! Muahz.

                            Always,

headaches headaches.. That's my main problem. No cravings so far. I am not a fat lover at all (except for that deep fried turkey.. cannot wait.. .

Looks like taking more fat than my usual intake is making me sometimes fell sick when I see fried food.

Yea, I cannot wait till tomorrow myself. I will update my ticker once I weigh myself and post an update to this post as well.
