theres one of the links about sour cream stalling... you can also try a message board search but make sure you put "titles only" otherwise you get a ton of results.

Re: Who Else is Starting Induction on 1/2/08?

GREAT QUESTION! I would like to know how many carbs veggies have too. If you don't buy frozen veggies then how are you supposed to know? It would be nice to have a list. Does anyone know of a list like this??? I don't know how many carbs are in one peice of celery. If there isn't already a list like this I may start working on one and then post it after I'm done.

I am going to make the fajitas and wrap them in lettuce and can't wait! My Poppers that I made were sooo good too. Another meal I really like a lot that is induction friendly is...

Grilled chicken cut up on top of 2 to 3 cups of lettuce and then put real bacon bits and shredded cheddar cheese on top of that and finally topped off with a sugar free blue cheese dressing. Very yummy! Make sure to cook your chicken in butter and to put pepper and a little salt on it.

What did you use for your fajita sauce to ensure that it was induction friendly?

My sauce basically was franks hot sauce & sour cream which both are induction friendly. You could also try making a salsa from scratch. Check out fitday.com to find carb counts for all types of food and track your meals & progress. That's what most of us use.

If anyone makes my version of the poppers make sure that you put the sugar substitute in very slowly and taste as you add or you will end up with a bad tasting cream cheese. I put 4 drops of stevia in a 8oz thing of cream cheese and I thought that tasted very good. I'm not sure how much Splenda you would add so you would have to make it up as you go along.

The fajitas sound great the way that you made them, nice and simple just the way I like my recipes I will be making them for dinner this week sometime for sure.

                Hey ALL,

I started on 12/31 and so far things are going ok. I have done well with eating but it's hard! I really have to take it hour by hour... especially with a kid in the house who eats whatever he wants, i actually wanted to rip the cantelope out of his hand today! LOL... anyway, good luck to everyone and Happy new year!!

                  GOODMORNING!!!

it is day one for me!!! I am ready!!!
of course I am sick sick sick...darn cold!!!

I work night shift as a nurse, and I find it hard with all the food around the nurses station, but thankfully one of my coworkers is doing this with me! so that will be a big help! safety in numbers!!!

I am quitting soda cold turkey as I read that the sugar substitute may cause cravings for carbs/sweets. I want to nip the cravings in the bud. So it shall be an interesting first week!!

Post back in the morning to let everyone know how you did on day one.

Good point, Deek Always check the list of ingredients of any pre-made 'lowcarb' dressings to ensure they dont contain ingredients that are not allowed for the stage of Atkins you are at.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

As long as you stick to the veggies on the one-cup and two-cup lists for induction, and make sure you eat the recommended quantities you will be unlikely to go over your 20 net carbs for induction.

Just a heads up for some of the new folks here starting Induction. Eventually, your diet will be, and should be if you are truly following Atkins, mostly veggies. Don't fear the veggies! As you finish induction and move through the rungs (which you should, should do - otherwise weightloss often stalls), you will add more high fiber, low calorie veggies.

Don't fall victim to the media stereotypes of what Atkins is supposed to be. This is not the egg and steak diet. This is a way of life, revolving around healthy veggies and topped off with smaller amounts of super yummy meats, whole grains and fruit.

As some wise person on this board once said, you don't get fat eating too much salad.

The barbaque and ketchup are both safe for induction and so is the alfredo sauce that I got (but all brands are different I'm sure). I just had the alfredo and the barbaque last night and they are both so gross that I can't even imagine how the company that makes them stays in business, so gross, so don't waist your money! I am finding that making things from scratch is the way to go if you want ok tasting foods.

I went to Ruby Tuesdays on New Years Eve and ordered from their atkins menu. I ordered the salmon, caesar salad and cauliflower potatoes. Everthing tasted very good but going there almost ruined my entire diet because the waitress put the order in as the regular salmon instead of the atkins version and so they brought me out this salmon with a glaze on it. Luckily common sense told me that the sauce looked shiney and sugary and so I asked her to please check to see if there was sugar in the sauce before I even took a bite. Sure enough there was. My husband at that peice and I waited for my new blackened version instead. I have to say that you should ask for your salad ahead of time so that you don't end up watching the other person eat something that you can't have. That was hard for me! That was my first time having the fake potatoes and I thought that they were pretty good. My Ruby Tuesdays doesn't have the cheesecake that I have heard mensioned but I bet the one in the Matt of America does. I will be going there for that as soon as I am out of induction for sure!!!

Bye the way, I can't believe that you weigh 145 pounds, you look like you weight so much less than that! I see that you are pretty tall though so I guess that makes sense. You also have a fantastic shape, how often do you work out and for how long? I really want to not only lose weight but I also want to improve on my body shape. I wish that I could put a picture of my self on here but all of my photos are to high quality so it keeps telling me that my pixels are too high :-(

I'm back on induction again - I really got off course during the Holidays but am not too down about it. I'm back up about 3 lbs in the past 3 weeks as a result. I'm making a run to be within 10% of my goal weight (so about 205 # or so - or 12 pounds) by the end of January and then try the next 15 to 20 # before May 1st with OWL.

Good luck everyone - when you get "bored" hungry - try to exercise rather than eat!
