LOL oh yeah. Our first dog we got at 10 weeks and he was a spunky evil thing until about a year - now he's my fat lazy son. Once Molly is old enough for all her vaccines and spaying, I think we're going to do daycare 1x a week for socialization. =)

Good morning! Hey, listen to this! I just tried the cheesecake pancakes.... they taste just like puffy crepes! mmmmmm.... I didn't add enough splenda, or they would be better. Here is a link to the recipe thread:

      cheesecake pancakes... DIVINE!!!

I made the amount listed, did not cut it in half as suggested by some people, and I ate it ALL. Only 5 net carbs. (Depending on how much splenda you use, I guess, plus the flax.)

Anybody got a quick answer for how much 1 TBSP ground flax = in carbs? One? Dunno.

My recommendations: save the splenda for after they're cooked, butter the pancakes as they come off the pan, and sprinkle the splenda on top, to make a kind of sweet glaze. (At least, that's what I'm trying next time. Or do half in the recipe, half on top.)

These burn easily! They're not like regular pancakes. I had to reduce my heat a lot. They still got too brown, almost burned, but they still taste as good.... with the cream cheese and splenda in it, it tastes a little like cheesecake!

I'm having cream and coffee too with it, so I'm sated now. Great way to start the morning! (I'm going to copy this over to that thread to add my suggestions, see you there if you follow the link.. lol.)

Hey Alien Monkey, make sure to measure!! I have lost some inches already in one week, which blows my mind. You never know. Did you take starting measurements? How much water are you drinking? Maybe not enough and your body's holding it? I am having to really increase my water and even keep water by my bed to drink some if I wake up to pee at night. Otherwise I wake up and feel kind of "dried out". Not sure how else to describe it.

Well, let's congratulate ourselves on the end of the first week! Congratulations!!

Ooops. Ok. Now I have the book and I can look it up! lol.

The flax seed meal is 1 Tbsp of daily pure fiber. There are no net carbs.

The carbs come from the eggs (2), (.5) net carb from the cinnamon, and up to (3) carbs from the splenda. (There are carbs in the cream cheese, but do we have to count that? I think those (3) carbs are "cheese carbs" that we have to count. So that brings the total carbs up to 8 carbs!) I think it was still worth it...

Sorry I have been out of the loop for a few days… l

Let me see if I can pick your brains a bit. I tried to find my Atkins book which I have successfully tucked in a spot, and now cant find it! (DOH!)

But I was under the impression that sucralose was all good during induction according to the good doctor himself… Am I wrong? For instance the Monster Lo Carb Drink boasts of 3 carbs – per serving, which is actually 6 per can…

And - someone mentioned sausage having sugar in it. I'm all good on that, checked it before I bought it! But thank you for the advice!

Hey, no prob! My mom picked one up for me at a yard sale a few days ago, since I couldn't find mine either. (Probably in my own yard sale pile. ha ha.) Welcome back!

Ok, here is what I understand about sucralose/Splenda. On induction, you are allowed up to 3 carbs of no-calorie sweetener. So you could drink 1/2 that can, but that's all on induction.

I think it's so your sweet cravings don't continue to haunt you.

Someone on the board said that SweetzFree (i think that's how they spelled it) does not have any carbs. I haven't read anywhere else about this, certainly not in the book, so I'm not sure. I have seen it next to the Splenda in the store, but didn't look at the label. I would guess that it's good to limit the sweeteners anyway, due to the reason above.

I'm learning all sorts of interesting things, like flax seed meal, 1 Tbsp a day mixed into eggs, or sprinkled on anything, is a freebie, because it's all fiber, and will help your constipation. It tastes a little bit nutty.

My big problem right now is just keeping enough food in the house. Buying perishable food is a whole different lifestyle than buying crap that's loaded with preservatives or can sit in the freezer for half a year.

that is so true. My immediate unction is to go for the cabinet for the usual stuff: chips, cookies or something of that nature. Now I am headed for the fridge for cheese or salad... Whatever, it all takes a little prep time just to have a snack. Plus as you said it seems hard to keep stuff around the house, so there is some "getting used to" regarding my new food regimen.

I guess I need to read the book again. Gee, guess I forgot the rule "3 carbs of no-calorie sweetener" either that or I ignored it the first time around

Anyway thanks for answering, i was begining to fell like maybe I had cooties or something!

Umm yeah. The first, second, and third induction efforts were all successful, but I admit, I didn't measure anything. Unlimited cheese, meats, eggs... But I didn't use sweetener at all. I had no idea what I was doing, but then again, I wasn't making it a lifestyle. I only went as far as induction, that was it each time.

Off to buy bacon! I can't believe after a week I haven't even had bacon yet.

Good morning all. Well I measured this morning and I lost 1/2 an in off my waist. I only measured my waist, hips and thighs. I think I better measure other areas. I saw on the board somewhere the places we should measure and keep track of. Does anyone have that information or the link to it?

Morning everyone!! =) Mmm cheesecake pancakes, I may have to venture and try those this weekend! I need to go to the store - last week I was all about fabulous cooking and I realize I'm now down to the nothings! LOL. So I'll have to head there tonight after I browse the recipe's section and decide what I want to test out! Luckily I made a bunch of quiche muffins (I just swapped the hamburger with ground SF sausage and used the Cheeseburger Quiche recipe divided up across the muffins) so I have breakfast this morning!

                        Today's Meals
                        Breakfast: Sausage Muffin Quiche
                        Snack: Cheese wheel
Lunch: Can of tuna (that's it - bummed I woke up so late!)
                        Snack: Cheese wheel
                        Dinner: TBD

This weekend my hubbie decided his favorite food on earth are the parmesean-crusted chicken fingers ("Best Chicken Fingers Ever!" in the recipe section). I sort of combined two recipe's I found there. I melt about 4 tbsp butter and mix it with 1 egg in a bowl. Then I spread grated parmesean cheese on a plate and mix it with Garlic Salt seasoning. Then I dip the tenders into the egg mix and roll it in the cheese and put it in my baking pan. I use a glass baking pan. I tried the idea of putting foil on the bottom but it just meant I was peeling foil off the bottom half of my tenders and half the time it peeled the "breading" off the bottom half. The next night I did it just on the glass itself and they cooked fabulously and it was really a cinch to clean the pan. I baked them verses fried them (I found the cheese washed off in my deep fryer lol) for an hour at 375 degrees. SO good.

My hubby made a random combo as well. He bought some peppered thick sliced bacon and he fried it in a pan with butter, then coated/fried it in the grated parmesean - and essentially made 2 slices of "breaded" bacon. I didn't try it LOL but he SWORE it was delicious.

I'm feeling great. I'm going to try to wean out my daily cup 'o coffee this second week of Induction, but we'll see! =)

                          Hi everyone,

Tough weekend... I lost my appetite, and didn't want to eat anything, so I had a couple big meals with 4.5 hours in between, which was way too long and it stressed my system. Still in ketosis, but I know I'm not eating enough. Fitday says I'm only taking in 1300 a day calories...

Then again, I was sleeping in a lot, so some of that was due to sleep. But I think I'm still supposed to cram in all those carbs. Yesterday, I only had 13 net carbs, and I didn't feel very well. I was in my car for 4 hours of the day, and it just didn't work out.

Thanks for that link to the measurements, Kristi. Although, I skip 1 and 2 - I don't want to know if I'm losing boobs! Really...

TOM and water retention going on with me, which so far just meant I didn't lose this morning - no big deal. I guess I'll wait a few days and stay off the scale. (Tough!)

Oh, and MrsBrittney, I am still drinking my coffee with cream - if you try to do it, I give you a standing ovation. I don't think I can. (It's my midmorning snack!)

                          don't forget water.....

LOL I talk big about dropping coffee, but its one of the few "sweets" I like.. so we'll see how than turns out!!

Franklin.. its sort of a modified version of the Cheeseburger Quiche receipe, but here goes:

                              Supplies/Ingredients:
                              01. Muffin Pan (they are bigger than cupcake pans, mine makes 6 muffins and is nonstick)
                              02. 3 large eggs
                              03. 1/2 cup mayo
                              04. 1/2 cup heavy cream
                              05. Garlic salt seasoning (or skip this and use nothing, real salt, powdered onion, whatever suits your fancy!)
                              06. 4 ounces ground breakfast sausage (or ground beef!)
                              07. 8 ounces shredded cheese (I use a Mexican Cheese blend)
                              09. 3 slices bacon

                              Instructions:
                              01. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
                              02. Brown the sausage or ground beef in a pan, breaking it up into as small/fine pieces as possible
                              03. Drain WELL and put aside
*I use a plastic spatula to mash/break up the pieces in the strainer as well, this works great and helps me drain it more

                              04. Cook your bacon (I like mine crispy but do whatever!)

                              05. Mix the eggs, mayo, heavy cream, cheese and any seasoning in a bowl as well as you can (here is where I toss in my seasonings)
                              06. Put even amounts of the sausage/beef into the bottoms of each of the muffin holes and flatten/smash as well as you can. This serves as the "crust"
                              07. Pour the "batter" mix into each of the muffin cups evenly and use a spoon to spread it out. Mine don't fill to the top exactly, but they do once cooked and they puff up.
                              08. Break the bacon into pieces and push in (or leave on top as a top "crust") 1/2 bacon slice for each muffin.

                              09. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until golden brown and a fork pushed into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
                              10. Let cool 15-20 minutes before eating. If you try to pick them out beforehand, they don't "pop out" easy and keep the muffin shape. They solidify a bit as they cool.

Mine last in the fridge and reheat easily (20-25 seconds a muffin) for about 3 days. They may hold longer but I'm not sure, we go through them too quickly! =)

When you divide by 6 muffins, it ends up being about 2.5 carbs per muffin. If you're also monitoring calories, don't go nuts though! These add up pretty hefty in that aspect =) But so good!
