Re: For those starting Atkin's on 7/7/2008.

    Hillbilly,

For chronic migraines, chiropractic care helped me. I was in the same boat as you...I had migraines several times a WEEK that never fully went away, was living on medication but now have only occasional (which I now control with Maxalt). If you haven't given this a try, I would totally recommend asking around for a good chiropractor. (Turned out my migraines were being caused by damage from a fairly minor car accident 10 YEARS earlier! So if yours truly are hormone related, it may not help you but it might be worth at least getting an opinion. My doctor told me chiro. care was useless...but he just had me living on medicines that weren't helping the migraines so I thought "why not give it a try"? So glad I did!)

Atkins doesn't seem to have any effect on my migraines either way...I don't get them any more or less while in induction. But i do get the terrible "sugar crash" headaches (which, thank God, are not as bad as migraines)

Re: For those starting Atkin's on 7/7/2008.

KIRBY - Tried that. Actually, I go pretty regularly. Before I realized I was getting regular migraines, I went to the chiro for months to get relief. No go. I've tried herbs & supplements, too. Will probably try homeopathy next. I've also heard accupuncture has had some success. The neurologist says accupuncture can also make them worse. But, I will probably try that in the future. Otherwise, I have 5-10 to go until I can expect any reduction (totally thru menopause).

Any other suggestions? Doesn't neccessarily need to be mainstream med.

Had a 1/4 lb. buffalo burger, 1 cup romaine lettuce, 1/2 TB mayo for lunch & 1 oz. cheddar cheese for lunch. Need something else easy/quick for supper. Hate to cook with headache.

Bekka - No problem. I have a problem telling people my age gap too LoL so totally understand. Loneliness does suck, but its a really good time to get to know yourself and learn how to love you first... NOW who's cheesy HA!!! LoL. But its so true. Hate telling my mom she was right about that.

Hillbilly - You're going to do great. I really hope you feel better.

        Whats for dinner tonight guys?

          SO TRUE!!!!!

Sometimes I even like it when my parents and my boyfriend go out of town for a couple of days, cause i know that they'll be full of eating right/exercising/getting reorganized/bubble baths/mani-pedi/pampering and green tea while watching "what not to wear" marathons.

Ok...for dinner...I don't know, I went grocery shopping not that long ago. It will most likely be a spinach salad (spinach/broccoli/bell peppers/cucumber/tomatos), topped in EVOO with raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, and combine that with something in my freezer (salmon, talapia, scallops, shrimp, chicken).

I agree. =) I have grown a lot these past two months that I haven't spoken to him. But it was still wrong of me for not calling him and everything. We just talked earlier today and we're going for lunch tomorrow. I'm determined to get into those size 16 jeans he bought me back in December. Tehe. So all is good on my side. I can finally smile. I hate not smiling, it's no fun.

at least he bought you a size 16. I remember i went shopping with my bf once and I was I think a 14 at the time, and he was helping me pick out jeans, and when i went to the dressing room to try them on. the pile i had picked out was 12/14/16, and the pile he had picked out was 4/6/8...

I was like..."are you KIDDING Me?!"

MISSNIKKI - Thanks. I needed to answer a number of concerns/posts, but I really got tired of focusing so much on my head. So, now on to FOOD!!

Supper, hmmm. Have to think about that one. Feeling pretty good right now (hunger/food wise). Better make a decision now before I just HAVE to eat. Need to have something not red tonight, with romaine, cucumber and bell peppers. That's all I can come up with right now.

Hope all is going well for everyone.

Re: For those starting Atkin's on 7/7/2008.

Well, my hunger charged right up on me. The only quick protein was beef, so beef it was. Philly Cheese Steak (without bread). That puts me at 20 carbs, with all the ratio's pretty close to where they should be. So for a snack tonite, I need one without carbs. Maybe I'll check the carbs in cheddar and fry me up some.

This is the end of day 2!!!!! WOOOO!!! And I am in ketosis!!!!! Ah, what the hay, another WOOOO!!!!

And another WOOOO!!!! for everyone else (just because I'm pleasantly full (of it?))

What an awesome day I'm having. Sure, it started off a little rough and emotional, but I'm having a good time now. I'm pretty happy right now, especially with myself because I'm being funny again and I'm also eating low carb! I'm sure I'm in ketosis. I just haven't had the time to buy ketostix, which I'm sure I'll buy tomorrow. My appetite is curbed, but I'm forcing myself to eat. I'm eating a salad right now. Way delicious and amazing like no other. I marinaded it over night, tomatoes, cucumber, onions and bellpepper. =) And then for dinner I'll be having brocolli and porkchops and I'll be fine for the night.

Well, I'm going to sit down and relax for a bit until my dispatcher gives me another call. =) Talk to everyone later.

Oh and Hillbilly! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! To you too! =) I'm proud of you for getting past day 2!

Wow you guys really fancy up those salads!!! Might make them bearable LoL

Carbless - You REALLY know how to do it when you finally get time to yourself! I could stand to learn a few things LoL. What a sweet BF you have!! Mine did the opposite. I was down to a 12/14 at the time, and he brought me 18-20's!! Luckily he came up with the reasoning that he thought it meant inches and that I was curvy in all the right places... pure dumb or pure genius.. still havent decided LoL

Bekka - Good to see you happy again!! It should at least help that you're doing excellent on this WOE and although I hate to admit it, even make me happy to be eating salad

Hillbilly - CONGRATS ON KETOSIS!!!! Must be something about migraines, because Im peeing purple tonight, myself!!! LoL Gross I know.. sorry!!!

Dinner was half yello half green squash fried in butter with italian seasonings and garlic salt with bbq tri-tip. It was actually a mini feast we cooked up tonight, with bbq chicken breast and potatoes (which i fried, but did not partake. usually i DROWN them with shredded cheddar cheese), but my appetite seems to be tapering off. I hate that I still get into snack mode tho - its sooo dangerous. especially when its this time of night

I would have loved to be part of the July 7th challenge, but I missed it. However, I wanted to tell you to be strong and what helps me is looking at everyone's before and after pictures and reading their stories. You'll do fine. I am starting my diet today. I had two fried eggs and a peice of chicken. I cleaned out my cabinet and got rid of all the carb filled foods. I am going to try to eliminate splenda and sweet N low from my diet and drink lots of water. I messed up last time eating sugar free foods, drinks and water. I noticed that I lost more weight and inches when I was not eating these foods.

                            Good morning everyone!!

ohh i had a headache of all headaches last night and my 2 kiddies refused to go to sleep.. OMG i felt horrible. Dh came home from work at about 11pm ( yes the kids were still up!!!) so i dang near ran into my room and hide under the covers and left him to deal w/them. I had planned on working out last night, but didnt have the energy for it. I peeked at the scale this am and i'm back down to 209 Woohoo! ya'll pray for me,... i just gotta get thru this wknd w/o fallin off course and gaining, i soo wanna see 199!!!!

I was rushing this am and forgot my lunch so i had a low carb shake for breakfast ( i know not good, but i was hungry and the alt would have been a breakfast sandwich or pancakes) and i plan on buyin a salad for lunch. Tonite is my late night since ODS has swimming and basketball practice after work. Hopefully my LO will cooperate and go into the childcare room so mama can workout for a minute... who knows.. he's pretty attached to my hip!

last night dinner was wendy's but i was good.. i got a side salad (pulled off the carrots) and a jr. cheeseburger and pulled off the bun.. i actually bought 2 burgers but was full w/ 1 and the salad. I wasnt even tempted by the frosty or hot french fries!

ok gotta run.. have a great LC day!! and drink that water!!

                              Hi everyone,

It's day 4. Hooray! I still feel like $h!t though. Former, I think for me it is a sugar crash. My head isn't hurting like it was days before but there's still pain residue. Yesterday things started off fine but later my head begin to hurt again. I feel tired and weak. Even when I was doing the low fat thing, I was still able to eat sweets and other stuff. This is the first time I've ever done something like this, where I'm wheening sweets all together. I think I went a little over my carbs yesterday but it still seems that I'm losing (or at least that's what the scale says). Good thing is my appetite is on the low. I haven't been able to exercise because I've been feeling bad. I can't wait to start Turbo Jamming. Hopefully by the weekend things will flatline and I'll be up to it. Right now I feel like a crackless crackhead. That's the best way to describe it.

                              Hope everyone is doing well.

Oooh, I'm a bit jealous that you guys get to weigh yourselves already, but amazing results!!! I'm proud of each and every one of you for losing so far!! ^_^ Isn't it such a great feeling to be losing instead of gaining?

Today is day 5 for me and I'm starting to wake up earlier and be a bit more refreshed than I normally would, but I'm still a bit tired, though. =( I'm gonna get some more sleep because the past few days have been too eventful. lol.

I'm waiting for my TOM to be gone so I can see how much I have lost. I know I have lost something, I can see it in the mirror and I can feel it too. And also, my icky gross looking acne on my arms and my face are going away, the ones that I have had there. I mean, my face is clear, but not all the time. I usually break out around this time anyway because of TOM. No fun at all. And it's been very painful this time, but I survived the last two days. wOOt.

I go for lunch today with John. Who knows, maybe we will get back together. =) He seems to be missing me like I'm missing him. Teehee. <3 We'll see. I'll let you all know.

And I'm determined to get into those size 16 jeans. ^_^
