    Hey everyone - I am living in Australia (english girl) and have want to get down to 58kilo / 9 stone / 126 pound. I am 5ft 7 / 171cm and had a baby a year ago - I have managed to lose 4 of the 5 stone (5 stone/70 pound) I put on but this last stone is proving difficult to shift - my motivation is the pile of clothes I have that I cant quite get into lol!

    I am on Day 6 but have just realised that my ketosis is burning the white wine I have been drinking - som I am going to start again today with NO alcohol - i have lost about 3 pound this week and am still in ketosis so hope next week will begood for me - I will then do another week of induction to make up for this week!

    Good luck to everyone - any tips or advise would be gratefully received, I am rubbish with thinking of good things to eat - just eating steak most days and roast chicken....getting a bit boring!

        Hi, everyone...just checking in. So far, so good!

        Good weekend so far. TWO birthday parties this weekend. One down, one to go. Doing Atkins induction, so no birthday cake. So, just to record some triumphs:

        Friday: Birthday Party at Fabulous Tea House, the kind where the bring around a tray laden with all kinds of dainties and delicacies. I waved it away and had chicken salad on lettuce. Delicious (though afterwards, I thought...hmmm...I bet those bastardos put sugar in that! Grrr...next time, I'll order tuna salad which isn't conducive to sweet.) Still I count the event as a victory.

        Saturday: Someone, bless 'er 'eart, brought low fat, no sugar added cream cheese brownies to a meeting I attended. They looked GORGEOUS. For 2 hours they looked gorgeous. I wasn't even tempted! (Though they were made with splenda, they still had flour and I'm avoiding that right now.)

        Later, we all decamped to lunch at a favorite place. This place makes a kick *** brie and roast beef paninin...so good...and...prob...hmmm...at LEAST 4 servings of bread -the sandwiches are huge. I had a grilled chicken ceasar salad and it was delish!

        Still later, I met a friend to wander around the local gourmet grocery store - chocolates from all over the world! So fun, just to wander. This place also had a fancy tea room and she wanted to go, so I said yes. Had two lovely pots of masala chai. She asked if I minded if she indulged in carbs and I said not at all. They brought her a sampler of tiny (carbolicious) treats. Honestly, I wasn't even tempted.

        Came home and had a nice steak and veggies.

        One more birthday party this afternoon. Happily, they are grilling steaks. Yay!

        I don't feel deprived or like I missed out on anything. There will always be another brownie. There will always be another petite lemon square in a frilly paper cup. These are not rare once in a life time items. I just wasn't willing to put off fat loss for them. Just wasn't. They just weren't that special.

        Still not in ketosis yet, but I'm not really surprised. I pretty much ate whatever I wanted for February. (And, by the way, I don't feel guilty about that at all, either! I wanted to, so I did and now I've moved on.) So, I think I've prob good a lot of what is it called - glycogen? stored up to use up before the engines switch to the chub burning. No biggie. It will happen.

        Man, I'm feeling zen today! That's unusual!

          Starting day 7 of induction, and NO CHEATS!! WOOHOOOOO!!!!

          I had a party last night for my youngest son's birthday, and served nothing but low-carb treats...shrimp with a yummy mayonaise dip, and veggies with a sour cream based dip. And then of course the red velvet cupcakes....which I have had none of. They look good, but not good enough to eat

          I am feeling so good! I am down 3.4 pounds as of this morning, I'm a slow loser this time around I think, but still a loser, so I don't care

          I do need to drink lots of water today....yesterday I only managed 32 oz, I don't know why, but the water tasted bad to me. Maybe its the dog breath Usually I am drinking 96 oz, so I am not always sucking....

            Secretly, I always think that any pound I lose is actually worth TWO - the pound I lost and the pound that I DIDN'T gain!

              I like that theory Lyndyn .

              Day 6 of induction for me! I definately look thinner. Look forward to weighing again.
              I am now trying to start a workout DVD. Plan on start working out 3 days a week.
              Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. That would really help muscle tone.

              Lets keep truckin!!

                  Hi Gemma -- there is no reason for you to be bored with the variety of food we eat on Atkins. Try out Linda's site for interesting and tasty induction menus Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Daily Menus click on the link that says induction menus. Here's another place with induction food http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...n-recipes.html. You need to vary your menu or you'll get bored plus your body will get use to only that food. Low Carb Menus - Atkins Diet another place to check.

                  Also wine (no alcohol) is not allowed on induction -- do you have the DANDR book and have you read it? Here is information you need to do Atkins correctly:

                    Hi Guys!

                    I was away from my computer all weekend so didn't get to post! I am down another two pounds! That is 8 pounds since I started a week ago today! Needless to say I am feeling just fabulous! I am going to pee on the ketostix today to see if I am still in ketosis! I ordered buffalo wings as an appetizer last night but they did have breading unbenounced to me so I hope that didn't kick me out of ketosis!!

                    How is everyone doing? Making a ceasar now! OX

                      I too need to drink more water!!!! We do need to be proud of the fact that we can turn down cake. I do love cake! I am headed to a party today, and will avoid it. Got my gum.

                        Katie...congrats on the 8 pounds so far! Awesome job!

                        And on a happy note, I think I might finally be in ketosis...I woke up with funky breath and now it really feels like the dry mouth I was so used to on Atkins before. Hurray! Funny, cheering about bad breath

                          Thank you for the congrats!!!

                          I am a light pink today! I am so happy because I was worried I was going to be thrown out of ketosis. I know that sometimes week 2 of inductino can be a stall if your week one was good (8 pounds) so now I am going to try and do a ton of exercise to shock my body even more. Hopefully that will try and break a potential stall!

                            Laurie- funny about the bad breath. It is odd to be a good thing! And on that note, any idea's on cutting it down? I feel like I've got bad dragon breath.. and I chewed on half a stick of sugar free gum today. It has 2 carbs per stick, so I only did half. I'm not sure if gum is "really" okay, even the sugar free kind. Yay for 8lbs! me too!

                            I got swept away for an ocean get-away this weekend (awesome, and MUCH needed). I was worried about food because I know there'd be gas station snack stops, and every meal at a restraunt. BUT.. yay me, I stuck to every rule!

                            I'm still exhausted. Is anyone else?

                              Good morning! I was down 3.5 pounds 4 days into induction. Tuesday is my official weigh in day so I will see th week tomorrow. Had a mild case of the flu but nothing major. One problem - I did cheat on Saturday night. There was a huge Mardi Gras themed surprise party for my best friend. I did drink 3 glasses of wine. However, I did not EAT anything illegal. I had blackened fish, beef, green beans and a salad. NO appetizers, desserts or anything else. So even though I cheated I still feel that this was somehow a victory.

                              Mags - I use Classico Tomato and Basil. It does not have sugar listed in the ingredients and it is yummy!!

                              Question - Can we start a new thread titled March 16th starters and the current date or something? That way you don't have weed through 100 pages? Maybe a couple times a week that would be helpful to do. Just a thought.

                                Hey there I am starting today and I would love to have a buddy begin it with me. At least we can make sure we are doing a-okay. Remember we all have to strat some where and here is i think a great place.
