  • Re: Anyone starting Atkins tomorrow! (16th March)

So week 2 here, doing great. Had a clean week 1, might have used too much sour cream or cheese on some nights. I'll have to watch that, but I'm down 7 pounds so no complaints. Week 2 I'm going to start trying to cut down on portion size. I'm not having problems with feeling hungry or cravings anymore so I should be good to cut down. This morning had my usual 2 oz sausage and 2 eggs instead of 3. Here's to a great second week.

After week 1 I am down 4.6 pounds, I am happy. I feel like I am finally in ketosis so maybe I'll have an even better week 2? Who knows, who cares, as long as I lose, I am good.

Thegreat08 - NO idea other than gum for the dragon breath! I bought some gum yesterday. Great job on sticking with it while away! That's often very tough to do

kpoll19 - thanks for the info about the sauce. I am going to try it!

I don't understand why I have not lost any weight. On Friday I was discouraged because no weight gone. I decided to weigh this morning and again, no weight gone. I am sticking to the diet and have not cheated once, I am eating enough and I am not overeating. I am not going to weigh myself again until next Monday to see what happens. Anyone else discouraged? Any advice?

Today I have had 2 eggs, 3 sausage links, chicken breast topped with sauteed mushrooms, peppers, and bacon and a cup of arugula with oil and vinegar. For a mid afternoon snack I will have 2 hard boiled eggs and dinner will be steak with fresh ginger and garlic, one cup of arugula with oil and vinegar, and a half a cup of asparagus with butter. If I get hungry tonight I will have sliced ham/cheese. I also have 1 cup of tea in the morning with 1 tbsp of cream and 1 splenda and the same thing in the evening.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

One problem - I did cheat on Saturday night. There was a huge Mardi Gras themed surprise party for my best friend. I did drink 3 glasses of wine. However, I did not EAT anything illegal. I had blackened fish, beef, green beans and a salad. NO appetizers, desserts or anything else. So even though I cheated I still feel that this was somehow a victory.

Mags - I use Classico Tomato and Basil. It does not have sugar listed in the ingredients and it is yummy!!

Question - Can we start a new thread titled March 16th starters and the current date or something? That way you don't have weed through 100 pages? Maybe a couple times a week that would be helpful to do. Just a thought.

            Have a great day! Kelly

Hey Kelly -- the new thread sounds great -- we've all been on induction a week (or more) and are helping each other out -- go ahead and start one!!

Don't give up - your meals sound good -- try to get a little more fat into your meal -- dip your sausage into Hellman's, add some celery with cream cheese, have Hidden Valley Ranch dressing on one of your salads. Some people don't loose as quickly as others - but if you stick to the program you will have success! I'm living proof of that.

Carole - Thank you for the kind words and suggestions. I really am trying at this and I don't want to give up. I hope that I can at least lose something before the 2 weeks are over.

The best thing about this diet is that I do not get hungry.

                  Quick check-in.

Finished my 1st week, 7lbs lost. No cheating, took supplements, psyllium husks, at least 30 mins of exercise a day and drank plenty of water.

Diet made up of chicken, tuna, steak, minced steak, white fish, eggs, cheddar, mozzarella and cream cheeses. Bacon and pork sausage (Bratwurst- atkins friendly)1 serve of either for breakfast.

Veggies- pumpkin, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, tomato, courgette, rhubarb

Salad-various salad leaves, alfalfa onion and garlic chive sprouts, cucumber, capsicum and Asian greens (Bok choy et al.)

Drinks- mainly only water and I'll have a atkins-friendly berroca-type supplement dissolved in water of an evening and a squirt of lemon juice in hot water in the morning

I made some home made mayonnaise and some of Linda's tomato ketchup (something hubby really needed)

I'm not a snacker by nature but if I need or want one I've been having 2-3 Kalamatta olives

The oils I've used are olive, rice bran and butter (if flavour needed). I've been taking a tablespoon of coconut oil prior to each meal as I am not a fan of greasy or oily food and this helps keep my fats up.

Finding out that Bok choy was classed as salad was a lifesaver for me as I struggle to usually eat the huge amount of salad in one day. I now can add up to a cup of it to my evening meal,stir-fried or steamed (it shrinks so well!) and know I only have to try to eat 1 cup of salad at lunch

TOM turned up a couple of days early so I'm not sure if it's had an effect or not.

Pleased to see most are doing well and those who feel they are not doing so well, keep at it!

Gemdris I'm also in Australia- an English import, drop me a PM if you'd like

Hi Ashley -- You have a lot of questions that should have been answered if you read the DANDR book - do you have it? If not these links will answer the questions and probably more that you have.

The Rules of Induction can be found here:
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6782 (What are the Rules of Induction?)

The Induction Acceptable Foods List can be found here:
                      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...on Induction?)

You don't say if the jello is regular or sugar-free....if it's sugar-free be careful because it's not made with Splenda which is the sweetner Dr Atkins recommended for us. Watch your bacon, if you start having a problem with water retention that could be the culprit - plus there is sugar in some bacon so be careful.

Here is a link everyone should read even if you've read the book -- I go back every so often just to refresh my memory on the rules: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-approach.html.

If you are having trouble making out menu's or are getting bored there is a site to rate people's menus...it will give you a lot of good ideas. Linda's site will give you more suggestions as well as the recipe site in the induction area here.

If you aren't losing weight, check your fat intake - I dip just about everything in Hellman's which I would have never done before, but I know it's an easy way to get my fat intake up each day.

                      Hope everyone is doing well.
                      Carole

I've cut them out this week and will see how this week goes.

Pork Rinds ,cheese & diet coke -- all 3 will keep you from losing as quickly as you might like to....are you close to ToM or Aunt Flo as some ladies like to call it - I always called it Question Mark because I never knew when my period was going to start!!!

I use to drink 4 - 6 cans of pop a day but now I can hardly drink a 1/2 can - my tastebuds have changed since I first started this. I drank Diet Rite instead of Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke but that was a personal preference, when I was on WW they recommended Diet Rite. I drank it for years it's strange to have a 6 cans in the garage that just sit there! LOL

Instead of soda - drink water, plain water - that will flush out all the nasties and the salt you put into your body. Find something other than salt to use on veggies or other foods - Tone's has a Vegetable seasoning that is real good and no salt or MSG added. Watch the MSG also in foods - that is another killer! If your clothes feel loose I'd take that as a good sign -- stay off the scales until after induction -- it's not your friend!! Some people weigh several times a day -- for what reason I have no clue! I weigh every other Monday morning -- I started on a Monday so I weigh on that day still. Good luck - you'll get the hang of what you can and don't want to eat!!

And yes - Hellman's is a brand of Mayonnaise. It has a slight amount of sugar in it but it doesn't put me into a stall so I continue to eat it. There are some people who make their own mayo but I've never been able to get it right.
