  • 36 days on induction and I refuse to weigh

    Hi All,

I have been doing induction for 36 days today. I am still refusing to get on the scale because I do not want to obsess over the lbs. I was on atkings about 10 years ago and I would weigh every day and when I did not lose for a few days i would get discouraged and say screw it. I don't want to go there this time.

I am using ketostix and have been in ketosis since day 3. My energy level exploded on days 4-5 and has yet to slack off. I feel fantastic and I have had to poke new holes in my belts in order to hold up my pants that are now falling off (lol). My wife hugged me the other day and she got excited that she could put her arms all the way around me and hold her hands together (woo hoo)

I wear dress clothes and a tie to work every day and prior to starting induction I could hardly button the top button on my shirts to put a tie on and now my shirts button easily and I have room to spare. I am focusing on how good I feel and how my clothes are fitting rather than how many lbs I have lost. I know that if I am still in ketosis and if my clothes are getting too big that its working.

    Any advice or response appreciated.
    Tim

Wow! I think you have a great attitude and seem to be doing wonderfully! I am going to follow your plan and quit peeking at the scale because it only discourages me. I can feel myself shrinking - clothes fit a lot better, etc - but don't see a lot of loss on the scale. Your way is much better!

Keep up the great work! and thanks for the unintended advise!

Yay! That is awesome and I bet you feel great! Keep up the good work and I am sure that you will need new pants by this time next month.

well done on your achievements!! and great attitude, i understand about the scales dominating your diet, its not healthy one bit but when someone gets into a habit its hard to break out of. But good for you for not giving up keep up the good work!

              Tim,

Great job on the first 36 days ~ how exciting! You have incredible willpower. Are you ever going to weigh yourself? If so, at what point? I'm terribly curious.

My focus now is on not having anything sweet (no diet soda, no gum, etc). Hopefully I'll be able to give up the scale someday, too.

Keep it up! I see a new wardrobe in your future!

I bought a calender so I could write my weight down on it every day but I think this post has convinced me to wait several weeks before I check it again. Today is my first day on a clean induction and I plan on doing induction for a long while.

I decided not to weight everyday because like you said, if there is no change you get upset. When I get upset I am known to quit...I'm do so well as a "quitter"....this time I want to "quit" the bad eating!! Keep posting - let us know how you're doing.... whoooooo hoooooo to you!! Keep up the great work

I think it is great that you haven't weighed yourself! I am restarting induction tomorrow (was on Atkins for 6 months previously) and do not plan on weighing myself until I pass a month. I took measurements and weight today and will be throwing out the scale...this way I am not tempted because I am a compulsive weight checker and all that does is make me sad and depressed. No more!

I've done the same thing, Tim. I was on Atkins for a couple of months before I got on a scale. Gotta love that baggy clothes feeling!!! I have only weighed myself once and have promised to not weigh myself more than every two weeks, just to make sure I am headed in the right direction. I just don't want to give a number on a scale that much power over my life and possibly discourage me.

Today is my first day, and the thing that has surprised me the most is that I am enjoying foods I have not eaten for a long time! Even foods I've never made before - like an omlette! I made my first one this morning and my hubby really enjoyed it, so it must be beginners luck! I had an omlette as well and whilst I was preparing them I put 6 eggs on to hard-boil. When they were ready I had two mashed in a cup with a large dod of butter - it was devine!

The other four eggs ended up being made into egg mayonnaise which I had at lunch time with salad and smoked mackrel. I really enjoyed that as well as I'd not had the fish for a long time. I'm having a meat platter (turkey, beef & pork) with a garlic butter & cream sauce with salad this evening.

My snack will be sliced Haloummi cheese which I fry - it goes crispy and is the nearest thing to crisps without the carbs. I'm trying to find a recipe for Bernaise Sauce? Any responses would be appreciated!

I'm away to drink more water and try and get rid of my withdrawal from carbs and sugar headache!! Best wishes from Marion

36 days on induction. Thats great. I would like to stay on induction for at least a month. I know what you mean about the scale. I am obsessed with it too and keep getting discouraged because I am not seeing any results so I am trying really hard now not to step on it. As fellow atkineers have called it "its evil"!

Have you tried exercise at all yet? It also makes a huge difference.

Keep up the good work and good luck! Just hollar if you need any extra support.
