Re: 36 days on induction and I refuse to weigh

Again, great job Tim! I'm really amazed that you are able to go without checking the scale. Unfortuantely, I got into that habit and now I neurotically check the weight every day. I know it's not good... but I so hard not to check. Of course when the weight goes up, I flip out.

Wow, way to go. I wish I had your will power. I would just be dying to know, especially when my pants started falling down. Keep up the good work

I think you have amazing willpower! The only way I could not weigh myself almost daily is if I have my husband hide the scale--which now that I've this post, may not be such a bad idea! Congrats on goin with what ya know will work for you

Well Done Tim! I keep the same attitude as you. I refuse to let myself to be a scale-slave.. If our clothes are getting lose, it means that we shrink , unless someone sneaks in and changes our clothes with larger ones :P

So motivational to hear you Tim That is the same thing I just posted about last night and today. For me the scale is dangerous territory and as of this morning I realize a ridiculous measure of my progress as I am exactly the same weight as last week but I am smaller! I put my scale down in storage and it won't be coming out until March 6th. Keep up the great work!!!!

you are totally an inspiration, and I hope you get that from all these replies!

I've only been on atkins for a month, myself, but on February 3rd I decided, "no scale for a month" - because - like you said - and like many others understand - when that scale doesn't move we say "ah screw it"...but nope - i LOVE this way of eating and how i FEEL and the scale does NOT matter.

you absolutely ROCK and you will be SO happy when you finally do see how much you've lost.

Re: 36 days on induction and I refuse to weigh

i truly understand why you not weighing yourself, i myself am stuck on a plateau where my weigh is stuck and it truly dictated my day why have i not lost weight. I was obsessed by this ritual of weighing every morning and the numbers would not go down and i was stressed out majorly. So i weighed my self a week ago and stashed my scale out of sight now i,m quite relaxed not knowing is it up, is it down or is it the same. I,m going to weigh my self next month no stressing for a month .

Ironically, doing this with weighing less and measuring more and RELAXING helps me stay ON plan. When I'm stressed that's when I want to overeat and go off plan, so it's a win-win!

Wow, I admire your self control to not get on the scale...you're really setting yourself up for a nice payoff!
I, on the other hand, weigh in 10-12 times a day. Not to obsess, but I'm curious about what eating, using the bathroom, taking a nap, and working out do to my body. I actually fluctuate up or down about 5 pounds each day, but about every other day the top number gets lower and the bottom number does too.
Keep it up! I can't want to go back to some of my 18 1/2 size dress shirts (my nicest ones) instead of the 19s I have now.

Tim! You just helped me out with something~

I started induction yesterday, but have been preparing for about 3 weeks, I guess. I've read loads of posts here, as well as other sites [this is by far the best site, btw]. There is a lot of talk about losing pounds, pounds/day, pounds/week. All of this, I believe, is totally normal. It's also been the one nagging thing about starting for me. I'm a weight lifter and have a considerable amount of muscle. Because of this, I feel my weight is absolutely obsolete. In fact, I haven't weighed myself for years and don't own a scale. The number means nothing~ only how I feel and what I can see has ever mattered to me.

But... I was going to bite the bullet tomorrow and weigh myself at the gym. I still don't know why I was going to. It's definitely not something I wanted to do. In fact, I was certain it would be counter-productive to a successful weight loss for me personally. Then I clicked on this post...

Thanks for being the hand reassuring hand on the shoulder.
