    Re: eggnog shake for breakfast!!!

Just made this. I used 3 eggs, my daily allowance of heavy cream, 2 packets of splenda, some almond extract and pumpkin spice. OMG. I went to make it and my bf looked at me like i was crazy and said, "Are you going to drink that"? I laughed and said what do you think eggnog is made from? So had him try it afterward and he was like hmmm.. pretty good and checper than buying it. I am sooooooo hooked. I will be trying different flavors with the Capella Flavor drops. No cals, no carbs, and no fat. mmmmmm cheesecake eggnog here i come.

I am not sure if I would be allowed to link the site for the Capella Flavor Drops here or not so I would just go to a search engine like google or excite and type in Capella Flavor Drops or you can run the whole name together with no space and add .com to the end to get to the site. Right now they have 200 flavors and they do make a difference.

        Re: eggnog shake for breakfast!!!

I have been doing this for a while... never thought of sharing it... so glad for this post... becuase all of us atkineers should know about this...

I add some variations because I get bored pretty easy... and for me this has meant a world of difference because I don't like eating breakfast... and we all know it is soooo important to start the day off really well by eating and getting our metabolism going right away. I actually have everything set to make my shake the night before... I can practically do it in my sleep.

I have added some or all of the following...

a quarter tsp of instant coffee ( nescafe french vanilla)

        1/2 tsp cocoa powder

I always add a tsp of ground flax seed... it does make it not so smooth but if you add icecubes... you can hardly tell and I really like getting some fibre this way... you can try psyllium but I hate the stuff I swear it smells like bubble gum

cinnamon is a great addition... i have used as much as 1 tsp less is better, but there are lots of good health benefits to cinnamon

i have added a tbsp of almond butter... or peanut butter... its a bit gross because I ddon't like peanut butter but I was experimenting.

i have added a drop of peppermint oil

i have used sugar free maple syrup

I always add at least 6 icecubes and pour the whole thing into a frosty cup... I swear its just like a milk shake

I typically use 3 eggs...and I am good right through till lunch... there are a bunch of benefits to consuming raw eggs... once you add the cream ( which I water down)
you hardly know they are raw eggs.

OH I also add a splash of good quality omega 3 oils... for those of us who need to remember to keep our fat intakes high. You don't even know you are taking in oil.

I have added coconut oil, but it solidifies when the temp is lowered by the ice cubes so it changes the consitency, BUT if you are a believer that Coconut oil is a good thing... and if you are like me and have a really difficult time taking it... I got used to the texture of the oil in the shake.

Anyways... I am babbling. GREAT POST!

I do believe there are some that are sold locally in different places but they arent' the capella brand. Capella used to have a boxed special with 3 miniature bottles for $9. Worked out well. I had my 3 for a little over 4 months.

The Capella site for the no cal/no carb/no sugar flavor drops has a promotion now but you have to create an account and log in. I went ahead and did so to make a shopping list so you can see how much it will be for 7 bottles. They are very concentrated so you need VERY FEW drops to flavor. there are roughly 600 drops per regular sized bottle. I personally prefer light flavoring from them so they last me longer than most. I can also tell you from personal experience they make it much easier to diet. Anyway here is my little shopping list to show the buy 5 get 2 free special.

                QtyItem$/ea
                1 New York Cheesecake $5.95
                1 Pralines & Cream $5.95
                1 Toasted Coconut $5.95
                1 Boston Cream Pie $5.95
                1 Caramel $5.95
                1 Chocolate Raspberry $5.95
                1 Chocolate Fudge Brownie - *NEW $5.95

                Total$29.75

Be careful with them. Honestly 1-2 drops goes a very long way. The best way I can think to describe it is that its like one cranberry flavoring an entire loaf of bread. I found out about those drops when I was doing a liquid diet. (THAT SUCKED) I mean it did what it was supposed to but the diet itself was just horrid. The human body isnt meant to live on liquids.

I emailed the company earlier today and got a response back that they did away with the miniature bottles a cpl years ago. That must have been the same year I was introduced to it.

interesting thread... raw eggs... tiny drops of intense flavor... wow! This is a whole new concept for me to wrap my brain around. I have never considered eating a raw egg until now. The way you describe it makes it sound fabulously yummy! Will consider changing my mind on raw eggs... never been a fan of 'soft cooked' eggs either... I can imagine it being really good frozen as well.

They're called egg creams. I'll use coffee, tea, or almond milk as the base. a couple raw eggs and then any flavor you want. Chocolate is quite good.
Coffee cubes or pumpkin cubes makes it nice and thick.

If you have ever drank eggnog then you know what this will taste like. you can make it thin or thick depending ion how many eggs or how much cream you use. The drops can be used in anythign really.
