    OK, you confirmed my concerns.

I love these shakes. And I am happy that I'm on the dairy rung so I can use a bit more heavy cream!

        avocado revision!:

        1 egg
        2 tbs torani vanilla
        1/2 C water
        1/2 avocado (hass)
        4 ice cubes
1 pinch xantham gum (not necessary, but creates shake-like texture :0)

        whizz away

my non-atkins family members and i love this!

Did you keep your jicama in the fridge or counter? And never keep it in a plastic bag, it will mold quicker.

I'm amping up my workouts and lifting weights and want to start drinking these as my post-workout meal since I don't get home those nights until about 8-8:30pm. I bought some unflavored whey protein isolate to add as it helps build and repair muscles after a workout and contains lots of amino acids (not to mention loads of good protein).

Does anyone else do this? Have you found good results?

I kept it on the counter well on my wire shelf. Had it while though, wasn't feeling well so I didn't eat it. Bought another and used it in my shake today with some apple pie spice.

Flavor wasn't bad but the fruit added a pulpy texture that I can not handle. If you like pulp in your orange juice it would be ok. I can't handle pulp it just grosses me out to drink a texture like that. I'm trying to be a big girl and get it down but it's slow going LOL

Think I'll skip jicima shakes from now on

I've been having these shakes for breakfast ever since I read this thread a couple of weeks ago. They are great and fast on workdays. I may try the avacodo with it since I've been wondering how to add more vegies to breakfast.

As far as the protein powder - I occasionally add a scoup of soy protein powder and it seems to work good.

I would love to have this more often but I need to get a hand-held blender because my regular blender is too big to whip up only one serving and I don't think I should make up more than one at a time, or is that okay if its refrigerated for the next day???

Depending on what kind of blender you have... I have an Oster that lives on my counter, and I use one of these Walmart.com: Oster Blend-n-Go Cup: Appliances which comes with an extra jar bottom and blade for the Oster. I also have Zyliss Quick-Blend Shaker - Green : Target which the Oster jar bottom fits too.
That way I blend my shakes, throw the jar bottom in the sink, put the lid on and take it with me. Oh so fast and easy.

No don't try to keep it the texture totally changes. They really need to be consumed soon after making for best flavor and texture. I bought a Ninja drink maker and it is perfect for these. It comes with a regular size container and also a smaller single serving size. I use the small one for mine, the big one if I'm making one for DH and myself. Easy to clean too.
