  • LOL- Mines has alottabit of belly! He's a big guy though. When I say big I mean like broad shoulders-muscular big. He got excited when he got out of the Navy, because by the time he moved here he had lost 30lbs. But he was also upset because his waist was the same 49 inches around! I told him he may lost water and muscle. The reason I say that is because he is one of those people that think that skipping meals and barely eating anything will make you lose weight. If he feels like he overate one day, he will cut out meals the next day trying to make up for it--these kind eating habits cause muscle loss. Not to mention the fact that exercise is a durty word to him.

I will give him credit though, now that he sees me losing so much, he wants to start walking...although I don't know how long that will last ensive

    • My DH is skinny everywhere except his belly and double chin. He won't workout or lift weights or anything. But now he is getting kinda jealous and behaving weird so I wonder if he is starting to feel insecure about my weight loss.

          • I always have fried chicken! Just fry yours without breading it. I normally season mines and throw it in the grease. That stuff tastes great! Then fix some veggies to go with it. As for the cake, stay away, you're doing too well to slip up now :hug

Let us know how it goes, and tell hubby we all said Happy B-day!

                • Iwillbethin........If you haven't tried breading your fried chicken with crushed pork rinds, try it. I use the spicy kind and put them in a plastic bag and crush them with my rolling pin. Then dip your chicken in egg and roll it in the crushed pork rinds and fry. Very tasty and darn near like regular fried chicken.

                  • I want to play! This is a great thread. I thought it might be too negative, but it's just as encouraging to read rants as it is anything else

                    So here's my rant:

I have one of those co-workers that everyone has that wanted to "try Atkins" without ever really doing anything that resembled Atkins. I lent her the copy of my book, which she said was too big to read. She just wanted to know exactly what to eat. I told her to at least read the first few chapters because without knowing WHY the diet works, then it totally defeats the purpose of doing the diet. She never ended up reading the book. The first day on her diet, we went to Denny's for breakfast. She ordered two eggs and a side of bacon. The waitress asked if she wanted toast and she said, "Nope! I'm doing the carb thing!" (Which actually should have been the "no-carb" thing, but whatever). But THEN, after refusing the toast, she ordered a glass of orange juice. I was so embarassed, that I felt the need to say, "Orange juice is ALL carbs!" so the waitress could hear me. For some reason I didn't want to be associated with her at that moment because of how dumb she was. Needless to say, she didn't lose any weight on the whopping 3 days she did Atkins (none of those days were low carb, I might add, but you probably could guess that after the orange juice incident). Now she's convinced Atkins doesn't work, and what's worse, she keeps calling it The Zone Diet. She says things like, "When I was on the Zone Diet last week, I couldn't go to the bathroom". Then I say, "First of all, you weren't doing the Zone Diet, it was Atkins. And second of all, you weren't really doing Atkins either."

                    GAH!

You know what the silver lining here is though? This all happened before I started Atkins. I had the book from a half-hearted previous attempt in 2003. It was only after I got so frustrated with her that I decided to start eating this way. I got the book back from her, re-read it, and have been on fire ever since! Part of my motivation is to lose a bunch of weight just so I can say, "SEE! It works if you follow the program, IDIOT!"

                    • LOL Effie! Great story!

Let her keep calling it the Zone Diet. Because she's living in the Twilight Zone.

And the "Book is too big" argument always cracks me up.

                      I guess she's not a religionist, either.

                      The Bible/Kavala/Bagavagita book's too big.

Or she can't call out for Pizza.

                      The phone book's too big.

I'm sure the person that made all the rude comments would be pissed if you told them to get their head out of their a$$! Then again I wouldn't tell em anything, they never should've let their head get stuck up their a$$ anyway
