Re: From 270+ to 170+ pounds!

Shauna--it was actually a very stressful move. We didn't know anybody in Montana, so we didn't have a support group or friends or anything at first here. And financially it was expensive to move everything we own 2000 miles away, but now we're doing very well. Unfortunately, I let the stress be an excuse to eat, and when I ate, it was absolute junk. My part of Montana has much colder temperatures, but I'm sure you know about that, being in ND! Michigan gets way more snow, and I really miss that!

I don't really make that much money at my gym--I wouldn't be able to survive on that paycheck! But it's fun to teach classes, to get to choose exercises and plan workouts. And I'm at the gym 6x/week anyway, might as well make a couple of bucks.

    Elsy--thanks, babe!

                              Ladies--thank you SOOOOOO much!

                              As for getting through it...

Before I started Atkins, I had hit rock-bottom and felt like crud. I looked awful, felt awful, and my self-esteem was sinking. I just felt so uncomfortable in my body. I had no other choice but to get healthy. It wasn't out of vanity, it was out of necessity.

Once I was on the plan, I just felt like a new person--I had energy, I had control over food, and losing weight was seriously just a bonus. That being said, I've always enjoyed my Atkins foods. I didn't stay on induction forever so I climbed the rungs as directed, introducing new foods, which really kept things from becoming boring. I tried new recipes (go to Linda's site if you haven't already!) and I always changed my exercise and made new fitness goals.

Yeah, it was incredibly daunting at first. I was scared. My goal weight felt sooooooo far away. But I focused on minigoals instead, every 10 pounds or so. Once I put my mind to it, I didn't let anything or anybody get me down or stand in my way. I *know* that I'm healthy and that I'm doing the right thing.
