Re: Okay I have a really big question

you know what everyone talks about the love that everyone has on this board and I am sorry but I am not feeling it I didn't have an attitude...I said it was a misunderstand and I said I was sorry...how is that an attitude? And your right I do have a problem with someone eating 800 calories a day being on a low calorie diet counting calories and low carb and calling it atkins that isn't what atkins is about

Re: Okay I have a really big question

I take that back I have felt the "love" from some of the people who post on the board, but it hasn't been from MOST of the people who has posted on this thread. I wish you guys would understand that I am not trying to be mean, vicious, judgemental, but some of you are treating me that way. You are making a joke out of my opinion and even after I let a nice person convince me that you weren't making a joke at my expense you are back tonight making another. I am excited for anyone who meets there goals...no matter what kind of diet you are on, but the simple fact is a low carb and low calorie mixed diet is one you made up yourself read the dang book..it isn't atkins!!!!!!!!!!!! The very few first pages talkes about learning to forget about counting calories. And to learn to enjoy eating again. Atkins is supposed to be a diet where we learn to eat properly...it isn't even sopposed to be a "diet" it is supposed to be a life change. I am so tired of you guys throwing darts at me.

I agree that if you intentionally do low cal/ low carb , you are making your own path instead of following what induction sets out to teach us. But if you naturally end up 'low cal', then I say 'Eh, so be it'. Ya know?

I also agree about the learning to enjoy eating again. That also means, for me, that I am not goingto stress myself about what is my BMR and how can I get enough to stay over that. In other words, not stressing myself about too many or too few calories.

My calories vary a good deal from day to day. If I stall out near goal and exhaust the remedies the book suggests like eliminating foods etc to see what happens & nothing happens - well, then I will look at calories. Obsess about calories? No. Heck, truth be told, I don't even obsess about carbs. Obsessing or even strenuously focusing on those type things is what got me fat.

I LOVE this way of eating! The fine points? To each their own. I get a lot of good advice here and I pass up just as much. I suppose that is how everything works really, not just ADBB. Honestly, I don't even mind if someone here isn't doing "Atkins". I will pop in with my little tidbit of advice but if it doesn't work for them or if they don't want to take it, it's fine with me. I am too busy being excited about the new me to worry overmuch about what others sre doing. I do always love to try to help though!

Re: Okay I have a really big question

              1. Induction isn't the whole way of eating. It also doesn't address a lot of the psychological factors and those are things that take time- as you will learn over your 100lb journey. Learning what works for you is as much a part of the journey as anything else. As Jennifer said, take what works for you, leave what doesn't. It's pretty simple.

              2. No one here is out to get you, so you can stop with the persecution complex. There have been some really amazing and successful people that have taken the time to read through your threads and respond to them. Instead of being so defensive, take the time to learn about some of the people you're talking to. You've met some incredible people in this thread - and you don't know it yet.

Being new, you wouldn't know things we know about these people - like that Bren (the lady you accused of making fun of you to begin with) runs ADBB and she's the 2nd to the last person to be combative or snarky (with our own wannabethintoo being 1st, of course ). She's the Lady of the House (HMFIC. heh). Stephanie is one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met online.

              Take a deep breath.

              Welcome to ADBB.

Re: Okay I have a really big question

I still think that your best way of finding out why certain people eat such low calories is to just ask them.

Making a statement like that to everyone isn't going to answer your question. I don't know why others do what they do. I only know what I do. I am in extended induction, and I make sure my percantages are on point, and if my calories fall a little short, so be it. I am eating 3 large meals a day, the proper snacks and 100oz of water. I am eating until I am satisfied and following ALL of Dr. A's rules.

I really don't think this is going to help you, since you are looking for those who intentionally do a low fat version.

As someone said, we have had this discussion more than once, and none of them ended in a unanamous decision to eat a certain way. This won't either. Chances are, these people have reasons for eating the way they do. No, it isn't Atkins to the T. He says specifically do not try to do a low fat version, it will inhibit weight loss. If they are losing this way and couldn't the absolute 100% Atkins way, so what. They are STILL taking control of their lives, they are STILL making healthier decisions reguarding their eating habits, and they are in this for life.

Do I agree with people doing "Atkins" and consuming 500 calories b/c they think they'll lose faster, absolutely not. But all I can do is try to educate and help the best way I can. That's what makes ADBB what it is. It's helping other people. It's learning.

Unfortunately everyone who eats Low fat Low carbs isn't going to come into here and explain themselves. They do what they do b/c it works for them. I will do what works for me, and you do what works for you. I learned a long time ago, you cannot save the world, or everyone who does Atkins wrong.

Dr. Atkins says to eat when hungry and stop eating when not hungry. If someone needs 800 calories a day to not feel hungry anymore then they are eating to satisfy their hunger and they ARE doing Atkins. Why should they eat more calories if they are not hungry? Isn't that what got them fat in the first place? I don't understand your logic at all. Please elaborate.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jsj0305 again.
I guess I'll just have to spread the love more before I can come back to you Stephanie.

your right, IF big big if 800 calories makes you full and you are satisfied at 800 calories and you are not PURPOSELY eating 800 calories then you are doing atkins. BUT, and here is the but if you are low cal dieting and that is were the 800 cals come from along with your low carb then it isn't atkins, that is my logic, and depending on your food choices 800 calories can be alot, but when eating meat..honestly I don't see how 800 calories can be all that much. I guess it is in the choice of meadts but still? okay I will go into detail here a 6 0z rib eye steak is 576 calories...so if you don't have anything else all day long that is over half of your calories right there and lets face it not much right. I mean even if you go with SKINLESS chicken brease 6 oz of that 335 calories, so I just can't see how you could be getting FULL off of 800 calories a day. If you are then I am TRULY happy for you. I REALLY AM!!! And, I have said it before and I will say it again, I am happy for ANYONE that meets there goal. No matter how they reach. I just don't think it is healthy. AND MY WHOLE POINT IS IT ISN'T ATKINS, AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE CALLING IT ATKINS. I am sitting here looking at my carb counter and I just can't understand how...one of the main sources of food on a carb diet..protien..which mainly comes from meat...is full of calories even the leanest portions...again lets go with another example...turkey breast WITHOUT THE SKIN 6 oz 230 calories...but the things is dr. atkins encouraged leaving the skin on...said you didn't have to, but....I am not saying WOW LETS GO EAT A TUB OF BUTTER AND GO EAT THE FATTIEST PIECE OF STEAK WE CAN FIND. I myself try to find leaner pieces of meat...I only eat bacon and sausage on occasion...I still try to eat boiled eggs instead of fried..I just feel like it is "safer" I can't get the ideas of fat out of my head either. And, I feel like as long as I am not adding "extra" fat to my body, than I will be burning stored fat. I am just trying to say there is a line here...and it is being crossed...I personally think it is a dangerous line. I have even heard it compared..and this is a quote (not using the EXACT words but almost) it is almost the same as going out and having weight loss surgery...well hello that isn't the safest thing in the world either...that is why many of us choose not to do it. that can kill you!!!!!! Those people have to get vitamans INJECTED because there stomachs are too freakin small to take them...and if they eat too much they puke...some of the people that I have read there menus are doing the same to themselves without the staples. Atleast you saved yourself alot of money, for now...but I am afraid the health bills will come. I am not being mean...and I am honestly trying not to be judgemental...although I know it sounds that way...and maybe I am I don't know...but to me it is the truth. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't think bad of anyone for theirs. I don't expect anyone to take on mine. I just want them understand that in my OPINION that it can't possibly be healthy. But you guys are right. I had NO idea that I was getting anything STARTED when I started this thread I was just curious I thought I was doing something innocent and how wrong I was. To each his own and lets leave it that way. Happy dieting to each of you.
