    actually Dr Atkins is very very specific about exercise and states in chapter 15 if you are not exercising you are NOT doing his program so get moving and then watch those pounds come off.

    Starvation mode is from constantly eating below your needs in both type of nutriant and fuel needs. if you eat all fats you will be starving for proteins, if you eat all proteins you will be starving for fats and essential oils. If you feed your hunger and learn that is its determined by the amount of food on the plate, room in your belly nor carbs left in your budget for the day then you will give your body the amount of fuel( calories) it needs to meet the demands you are placing on it. no exercise=less fuel needed=slower weight loss. Feed your hunger and do the mandatory exercise and your body will take care of your weight on Atkins.

    The BMR sites calculate caloric needs to keep the average build person your age height sex and weight asleep 24/7 eating a high care diet. remember your body may be a fluffy marshmellow or a rock hard muscle and your BMR will be different but those sites will not tell you that. listen to your body and let it tell you what it needs.

      Yep, same rung as you -- berries. I'd planned to move up the rungs quickly, but ended up staying at nuts and seeds for a few weeks because my weight wasn't changing. Then I had a big whooshie and celebrated by buying strawberries. Amazing how such a simple treat can be so exciting!

        2big, how did you measure your muscle gain/fat lose? I'd love to know what my body composition is. Did you do weight training?

        I lost a total of 5 pounds and 7.5 inches in 6 weeks.
        48f 5'5" currently in mentalpause

        Fell on my face 2/5/06

          if you go to a gym you can use the fat calipers if you have a body fat scales you can use the change from week ro week ro show you how much fat you are losing even when the scales say no body weight change or you can use the dunk tank method and have they do it for you.

          I've been doiing the BFL lifting program since 2003 except for a 6 month time off this past yr.

                Hey. How are You all 'under 30' going? I'd just love to know, because I haven't been patient with my own weight loss and my willpower is like 2/10. Yeah, I'm feeling pretty miserable and unhappy right now. Thought I could get some inspiration here. I still have some 30 pounds to lose. It's just ... that I can't.

                  i have 17 more to go to get to my goal weight of 180

                  dont know if ill get that low as im doing alot of power lifting now and gaining muscle weight so that goal may need to be adjusted


                  p.s. ive lost 30.5 pounds so far

                    I just finished induction today
                    but I'm scared to weight myself
                    I'm afraid that it won't translate on the scale

                              with the scale
                              I think my starting weight was
                              155 and now
                              I'm 147
                              so that's an 8 pound loss
                              not bad
                              but I wanted to be under 145
