Re: worst diet advice?
My roommate in college was on WW--she actually did it in High School too, but it only worked for a limited time--she used to eat a candy bar and a coke at lunch (if she ate anything at all), no breakfast, and then a supposedly "healthy" dinner. She would lose about 1/4lb. per week--and that was on a good week.
In college, she relied mainly on those frozen dinners, but she became a hermit to control her eating--she would eat a dinner, then immediately go in her bedroom so she would be able to resist her hunger. It was sort of bittersweet--she could never figure out how she could GAIN weight on so few calories (1200). What she somehow "forgot" about was that she was a big-time pot smoker, and so she'd eat "sensibly" all day, but when her boyfriend came over, they'd smoke, and then devour a jar of bean dip, a bag of chips, and a bag of hershey's kisses. She would forget that she did this and wondered where the weight came from! So imagine her frustration when I started Atkins that spring semester--I lost 40lb. in the rest of the time I lived with her, and I was also in her wedding that May. My dress had to be altered BIG TIME because when I was measured for it in January, they put me in a 24. When I was fitted in April, I the dress measurements that actually FIT me were a 16--she was sad because her g'ma had to let her wedding dress out--I told her about Atkins but she thought WW was a much healthier plan, and better for her, because she told me "I can't possibly eat as much as you do."
Yeah, whatever.
