    Re: Stalling Buddies

Wow, thanks for posting that! I'm going to the store today & I'm going out of town next weekend. Thats going to be tough. I'm seriously stressed about what I'll eat in DC next week. We will survive with stuff I'll pack but plenty of opportunity to fall off the wagon.

I DID NOT WEIGH TODAY!!! Are you guys staying off the scale? I did wear a HUGE pair of pants yesterday & they were so baggy! lol

Are you guys drinking enough? Good job!

Happy Good Friday & be safe.

Yes I am trying to stay off that vile little creature One thing I know for certain - the scale is NOT my friend.

Don't stress about your trip - you are going to do great!! Is this the same one that you are speaking at? I know that you will give the great pause for thought on what medications they are giving kids with seizures at school? I know your voice will be heard loud and clear!!

We are going to the lake again this weekend... Oldest daughter and future son are coming into town and hopefully we will get to take the boat out. Relatives that live up there are cooking smoked turkey and smoked ham and I am providing sides so I should be able to stay on track... just need to stay away from the alcohol especially since I am a Miller Lite Girl (course if I err.. I will have to count carbs).

Bean - you have such cute little ones Are you doing the Easter Bunny thing and dyeing eggs for them to hunt?
Well all ~ I've messed around and STALLED doing my job today so I need to get back to each - I wish you both (and anyone else that might read this) as very safe and Happy Easter....

Here comes Peter Cottontail ~ hopping down the bunny trail... hippity hop, hippity hop... Easters on its way! ((( YOU ARE SOOO LUCKY YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY HAVE TO HEAR ME SIGN THAT!!)))

RBLWMN - No scales for me! I'm trying to stay off till Monday and then I'll weigh for the swimsuit challenge. Otherwise, I might end up saying "to heck with it" and eating all that Easter junk! I feel thinner, but if the scale was to say otherwise, I think the discouragement would just be too much.

FBG - Thank you!! I got the boys Easter baskets and extra candy. Those store-bought baskets don't seem to have that much in them anymore. I also bought them small gifts and put those in their baskets too. They're coloring eggs tomorrow with their "maw-maw" and we will hide them at her house Sunday. Have fun at the lake and happy Easter to you too!!

          Re: Stalling Buddies

Hey Mellany - the last four weeks were slower for me as well, but I suspected my issue was "exercise familiarity" and turns out that's what it was. I didn't read all the other responses you got here, but since you mentioned you were exercising a lot, I thought I'd toss my quick experience in here for your consideration.

I was averaging about 3.2 pounds lost per week there for a while, then for the last four weeks, it dropped to 2.2. The fifth week it was .8 :-O

Three weeks into the slow-down I really knew this had to be my body acclimating to my cardio day workout - a simple brisk 90 minute walk on the treadmill. My weight lifting days always get changed cuz I have a trainer monitoring those. But I never once changed what I did on cardio days and eventually, your body does catch on and adjusts to what you're doing, burning fewer calories for that activity because it learns to be efficient at it.

I knew I had to change what I was doing so I ordered P90 and P90X from Beachbody.com. Holy smokes Batman, in the last week I lost 5 pounds :-O And that's simply from changing my cardio day activity to fool my body again. That's just plain amazing the way it works. Those two programs should take me through the next six months now without another plateau and I should look awesome (if I survive ;-)

Here's basically what I'm doing to average a 2-4lb loss each week:
          • Free Weights M, W, F 40 minutes
          • Cardio T, Th, S 90 minutes
          • Average Intake=1300-1400 Average Expenditure=3200
          • Low sodium (attempting - it's really tricky!)
          • Grazing Approach
          • Use of vitamins and whey protein isolate

Down 8lbs since last week!! I figure its all water weight though. I'm back to where I was before I ate that junk. How was everyone's Easter?

mystic - I'm currently doing P90X! I've got P90, but I didn't like it for some reason. I stuck with Slim in 6 pre-P90X. I really do like P90X though! Its awesome!! I was glad to read about it breaking your plateau. Maybe it will break mine since I got my eating under control!

Yeah I agree, P90 is a bit boring compared to P90X, not to mention X is killer! I'm really happy I invested in those. The fact that it incorporates yoga is awesome cuz I wouldn't do that otherwise. That's going to take me all the way and yep, I'm pretty sure now, as long as I keep my food intake at an appropriate level for my exercise, I won't plateau or slow down again. The whole program is designed to avoid that.

I'll try to keep in touch with you to see how it works for you. I still have about 55-60 pounds to lose so my X photos won't be taken any time soon I should be able to do P90X by about June 15 and finish mid-September.

                Re: Stalling Buddies

Well..I think I'll give the abs and the squats a try next month. I did 75 squats while taking my shower...it actually was kinda relaxing after my 1.5 miles on the treadmill it was a good cool down..I hope thats not to odd..lol!!. I don't have the best back for the abs but I'll take it slow and see what happens.Thats one of my big problem spots..I'll keep my routine up, see a little bit of a change get bored and I'm back to starting all over again.I was trying on my jeans this weekend, well let me tell you that was a big mistake after all the miles walking..all the steps..everything seemed tighter well lets say not seemed they were freakin skin tight and hurt!!! ..yikes that really made my weekend..O.k. so I'm starting over I know I have to force myself to eat more, thats where this all stems from you know the old if you starve yourself you lose weight. Anybody around my age knows this...when we were in our teens to young adults our parents did it..what happened to good old not eating and looking great..LOL!! just kidding it sucks it's not easy and I know Atkins works I've lived it for years I just need a kick in the butt and some and lots of guidance along the way...I need help in how much to eat,I'm trying but its so scarey to eat as much as they say I should does ...anyone else have this problem..anyboby anybody?????? -->>>

BeanPole - YEAH!! YIPPEE!! 8lbs loss (water or not) we will take that! Congratulations my friend ~ lets see how you do in next couple of weeks ~ maybe you broke your Pause!

I think we are all there with you Charks! I know that is one of my biggest downfalls - eating enough and eating regularily... Normally I could go all weekend and not eat ~ just get involved with something else and then realize it was too late to eat... Unfortunately every time I do that my body things I am starving myself (and TRUST ME.. I ain't gonna starve any time soon) and therefore holds onto all the extra weight and then as soon as I eat it holds onto that because its not sure when I will eat again... HATE how the body works against you.

Glad though you are gonna join up on some of the other challenges ~ I hear the person taking over the abs challenge for April is pretty mean and vicious.. you better ask Jimmie about her

Hey Mystic - I believe you are probably right on with your comments -- I keep trying to fool this body, but its smarter than I give it credit (just wish the brain was as smart ) I have been trying to do the stability ball workout (DVD) at least every other day... Squats and abs daily with my mileage goals... I have also been using weights every other day to build some muscles in my arms... I think I probably need another type of aerobic exercise to keep my body in confusion. What is the P90X????

Okay - so went to the lake... made sure to have alot of legal foods on me... Then got frustrated that we still couldn't get darn boat working.... little sleep due to daughter puppy and got greeted by TOM (wasn't expecting him) so even though I made sure to have foods that I could eat -- I also ate the foods OTHER people can eat.... I didn't eat alot of the carbage -- just enough to make myself mad at my stupidity... I weighed again Friday which put me in a bad mood ~ I am now more convienced then ever that I am one of those unlucky ones that Dr. Atkins was talking about that doesn't see changes on steady consistent basis.. but more like once every 4-5 weeks I will see a decrease suddenly...

I did weigh myself again today to see what damage eating off plan did to me over the weekend ~ plus the TOM addition... suprisingly no weight change. I figured I would have gained retaining water.. but I didn't drink as much as I normally do so maybe thats why ~ still drank over 64 ounces but normall I am almost double that in a day.

Okay, well I hope you all did better than me over the weekend and have more good news to report

Hi Mimom48183: There is a special thread/forum dedicated just to Canida/Yeast. But basically first thing in the morning before you eat or drink, spit into a clear glass of water. Check it after a couple of minutes to see if your saliva becomes cloudy or starts forming legs to the bottom of the glass. If it does you have yeast in your body. The forum gives lots of good information on how to combat it including a special diet called KISS.

I hate yoga! lol Its so good for me, but I don't like it! I took some before pictures. I don't plan on taking any more till I finish the Summer Swimsuit Challenge. Hopefully I'll have made some progress by then. I'm currently on Week 2, Phase 2 of the X. Now I just have to keep eating legal!!

Mimom - I had yeast, little leggies and the whole bit in my cup one morning. I tried Yeast Fighters from Twin Labs and it cleared my yeasties up. Now I check for yeast occasionally to make sure it doesn't come back. Yeast gives me the munchies like theres no tomorrow!

BeanPole - YEAH!! YIPPEE!! 8lbs loss (water or not) we will take that! Congratulations my friend ~ lets see how you do in next couple of weeks ~ maybe you broke your Pause!
Thank you!! I hope I broke my Pause! I need to get somewhere before summer!! You can check P90X out at beachbody.com . Its an in-home workout program. Very intense. I love it!

Going off plan always puts me in a very foul mood too. Don't feel bad! You didn't gain so thats pretty good! I'm probably one of those unlucky ones Dr.A was talking about too! I usually don't lose unless I have a fairly cheat-free month and then I still don't lose until TOM. Heres to us having a cheat-free month from here and out and seeing results!

Maybe it is yeast for me. I have been super tired and now starting to get congested, sore throat and cold all the time. It is my 3rd week and it is like I am gaining weight. I don't understand. I weighed in on Sunday and I was very happy with the results. I weighed today and up 3 pounds. WHAT?? I am going to check for yeast tomorrow morning. I don't understand what my body is doing. Thanks for the advice guys!

Hi Mimom: don't panic -- the 3 lbs is more than likely water weight, extremely doubtful that you gained 3 lbs that fast... are you eating more salt than normal? How is your water intake? I know when I first started drinking lots of water my body held onto it a little longer than I liked and then the water weight finally dropped off. Tomorrow try the spit test - hopefully you are not coming down with that nasty flu bug. Let us know how the test came out!

OH.... stay off that scale ~ concentrate on what your clothes are telling you (at least for the time being )
