    PEANUT BUTTER QUESTION:
Hi! I just started the Atkins diet yesterday, I read the book a few years ago and will start reading it again tonight. But I need to know the answer to this question soon. Can we eat peanut butter. Like right from a spoon? Also, what about water chestnuts? I am also brand new to this site and cannot figure out how to write my own question without answering your personal blog.
    Thanks for the help!

P.S. What is a "Trackback" listed below this box?
"Gazelle Intense", I am keeping my eye on my goal and sticking to this.

Britini...you didn't give me the wrong impression at all! I knew what you were saying and like you I was just voicing my opinion. Sorry if it seemed like I was saying something else.

Stacy...good for you! Broccoi is one of my favs. even before Atkins.

Welcome sbteacher. First ..no peanut butter until the fthird rung. In the main forum is a stickie for your wallet that you can print out of what you can eat for the first two weeks. I would really recommend buying the book though as well. The stickies are a great tool in conjuction with the book but without the book in the beginning it is like reading cliffnotes and so you will only get cliffnote results. A small investment for a lifestyle change. Make sure you get the 2002 edition. Second...this thread is open to and for anyone so you are doing fine posting here. Third to post your own thread once you are in a forum...like the main one or induction...look right at the top of where the threads(topics) start and there is a button that says new thread. And last...a threadback is some annoying thing I have no control over..LOL..I have never used it.

So our work signed up for this local radio station to win Dairy Queen Blizzards {ice cream} for everyone in the office and anyways I guess we won. They are coming tommorow at 1. I am bummed because obviously I can't have any and never get to share in the fun work stuff. Like next week on Friday we're having a pool party at one of the attorney's houses... all catered food though and so obviously nothing I'm going to be able to have plus I'm not happy enough with my body to actually swim. I won't give in, obviously, but it just makes me feel like I will never fit in. Definitely NOT worth breaking my beloved ketosis (LOL) for... just wanted to vent...

((Britini)) You stop that stinkin' thinlin' right now! Is all the work fun based on food?? No..you can't have the Blizzard. Yes it sucks...but it is a healthy choice you are making. It doesn't mean you can't sit around with everyone and make jokes and stuff. It just means at this time in your life and this one instance that you are choosing not to have some. As for the pool party...I would think that they would have some veggies and dip or some meat and cheese. You can eat before you go or bring a veggie plate or some pork rinds and dip. Again..you are focusing on the food part and even if you don't want to swim...and you may change your mind once you are there... you can still go and sit around and have fun. Go with a positive attitude and focus on the people and you will have some fun. You can do it! Let us know how it goes!

              Re: Buddy List Aug 11-17

Thanks, Elsie! That's all stuff I know very well and I have NO problem with self control. At this new job (I started at this office about 3 months ago) they constantly have feasts, parties with food, etc. For them -- the food is always a main focal point. But they always laugh and never even invite me out to lunch because I'm always saying no thank you to sweet treats they offer -- even way before this Atkins thing. (As I was a low-fat kinda girl)

It doesn't bum me out that I can't have the foods (cause I just think, "one day..." I'll enjoy that Blizzard once I'm skinny LOL) but it just bums me out that I feel like I'm not connecting as well with my co-workers because I opt out of most social events due to them being sooo about food and that's just so not me!

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks girl!!!

                Re: Buddy List Aug 11-17

I understand. I guess one of the things we have to learn on this WOE is to not make it about the food for us...even though it is for them...because you shouldn't have to miss out on stuff because of your food choices. So what can you do to start connecting with the co-workers? Go to the swim thing anyway is one...maybe invite them or one out to lunch instead of waiting for them to invite you. Yeesh...don't they know that it doesn't mean you don't eat...you still gotta eat. Most places have salads and a protein. I know if you are shy in anyway that it will be hard but maybe that is one of the things you are going to have to work through on your new WOL too. Many many lessons grasshopper....LOL! I am sure once you figure it out and how to do it you will do fine..you seem very outgoing and fun to me!!

Hey all, jusy checking in. Got me a serious virus or something going on with this blasted machine. 1st time in 3 days I'm able to access anything. Me boy gonna have a looksie tomorrow, hopefully he'll fix it. If not gonna have to wait till I return from the Outerbanks in 3 weeks. I am officially stalled, or am recycling the same 2-3 pounds over and over again. However, considering what we did and where we went as a family, I will consider this summer a huge success. Will attempt signin later. Hope all is well with everybody and remember; stay focused, be true to yourself and stay positive. God Bless,Joe

                    Good Evening Buddy's!!

Warm Welcome to our new Bud's!! please keep the questions coming! and continue to post your progress!!

My Wife and Daughter started resistance training today --went better then I expected! I will make sure they rest every other day to heal the stretched muscle to make it stronger-- and the best part-- is my wife took a ride on the bike today!

Joe--I think your right--now that the vacation is over and your focus is now back to "you" --your results will be back on track also--You have a plan for your trip away from your comfort zone? (Home) A good plan will keep your Focus & momentum going strong.

Brittni--I avoided social events also--made lame excuses to avoid even simple nights out to dinner and a movie--once I had my hunger under control and my cravings greatly reduced--I went out to dinner with a group of friends--expected the worse and it turned out great! even the chef was on Atkin's and cooked me a wonderful meal!
taught me to face head on the events and situations that I used to eat and drink like there was no tommorrow--and made me stronger

Sugar...I picked some fresh broccoli from the garden today. Quite a different taste than from the store. It is a bit spicy actually. Yummy!

I made it through my first day clean!! No diet cokes, no crystal light!! Just plain water - 96 oz. of it!!

Had broccoli tonight, along with grilled chicken breast with slice of melted pepper jack cheese. A little pumpkin with dap of heavy whipping cream for dessert.

Lots of energy today too! Did 2.5 miles on my lunch break at gym, and walked dog 3.25 miles tonight after dinner.

A great site for mapping your mileage, if anyone is interested, is mapmyrun.com.

Looking forward to staying clean tomorrow.

Welcome to Stacy, Renie, and sbteacher!

Tried to cheat by having a diet coke today. Put my money in the machine and got the "sold out" message. This is the second time I've tried to cheat and was set back on the right path by some weird coincidence - it's getting spooky!

                                Stay strong everybody.
