    Re: Coconut Oil ....

I use virgin coconut oil for anything sweet, such as in flax muffins or any baked SF goodies. It's absolutely fabulous in a chocolate protein shake. There's no need to eat it off a spoon, or cook eggs in it.

For everyday cooking of meat, for example, I use only the LouAnna brand I find at WalMart. It's been deodorized, but is still a stable, flavorless fat that's a healthier alternative to vegetable oils or Crisco!

Is it better to get the liquid form or the solid form of coconut oil?

Hi, Herb! Yep, as Lyssie said, just throw a glop in the pan (I find just a teaspoon will work, in a small pan) and fry up your eggs in it. I like it, but apparently not everyone shares the love ... that's okay, that means more coconut oil for the rest of us! Oh ... I just saw your other post: The stuff I use is a semi-solid; I don't think it really matters which one you use ... it's all good

Hope I didn't make you hork up a lung or anything, Paula !

Coconut oil is solid at cooler temperatures and melts above 77 degrees. So, it's all the same.

In re the balut.. um yeah, I just HAD to know... it does seem to cross a line, but maybe with some mayo... sans broth. THAT concept made things feel a little unstable....

In re the coconut oil.. I just don't get a strong coconut-y taste from it at all. Just seems light and clean. Does it make a difference metabolicly if you cook with it or spoon it? I haven't gone for the spooning. Dunno if I could do it.

                Re: Coconut Oil ....

So, okay, I have to admit, this post made me try it again (on a spoon instead of in a frying pan), and it's actually pretty good!! It's even good mixed into some coffee! So I guess I feel like me being completely disgusted and sick was actually me being sick, not related to the coconut oil at all.

Coffee??? Hmm... that just gave me an idea - mix coconut oil in with cocoa powder, splenda & water for low-carb hot chocolate

I should smack myself for thinking about it

There's a mocha flavored coffee, and Cinnabon flavored coffee I drink. I even mixed it in when I made some chai.

I add it to my coffee, too. If you can get over the look of an oil slick floating around in your coffee, it's really good!
