    Good thread.
    Induction is certainly tricky for trying to replacing favourites as there are many restriction. On OWL I have found that I eat just about everything. So OWL has been a really good experiment for me.
    But lets see
    *Bread. I am really big on bread. On induction I made Revolution Rolls or Oopsie rolls. Not quite the same but they can hold some sandwich meat or be around a burger. When I got to rung 3 I made minute muffins. Those are really great, Now that I am on rung 9 I bake a low carb bread.
    *Milk. I really have not found anything to replace it. When I got to rung 6 I introduced sugarfree Soymilk and I really like it. I can drink a bit of milk but I really don't now. Sort of gotten over my milk addiction.
    *Potatoes. I grew up on these. At home there was no such thing as a supper without potatoes. On Atkins I have come to adore cauliflower. I make cauliflower mash every time the rest of the gang has potatoes. And I also really like this baked cauliflower dish.
    *Pasta. I love this past sauce that I used to make. I still make it. Eat it with Spaghetti squash now. Still delicious
    *Pizza. I am a big fan of the cauliflower pizza
    *Nachos. I make mine with pork rinds. When I get a craving for it.
    *Chips - I make cheese crisps in the microwave with Cheddar cheese. These are salty and tasty and fill the void
    *Fries - when the family makes oven fries with potatoes I add my turnip to the mix. Turnip will not get crispy like potatoes but it is pretty yummy.
    *Rice - even on OWL I sadly learned that I cannot deal with rice. But I love cauliflower rice. Probably my favourite side dish and so versatile.
    Sweets* - tricky for me because I put on my weight over eating sweets so I have had to work on this addiction. After getting to rung 3 I have introduced cocoa into to things. I make coconut oil bark once in a while (coconut oil, cocoa, splenda - freeze). Also if I do feel like something special I like to make a pumpkin, cream cheese, cinnamon, nutmeg, splenda concoction. It really hits the spot
    Cookies* I make some Atkins friendly now on OWL. So no problem there. Here is the macaroon recipe I used for Christmas

      I miss something sweet or any desserts!! im still in induction so am limited to what i can have. The only recipe i have tried is the induction friendly cheesecake, but i felt like i was just eating a blob of sweetened cream cheese .

      I have made the caulifowler mash and pizza crust and i love them!! its just finding the time to not be lazy and actually make it thats the prob now

        Thanks SMarie! I will have to try the deep dish recipe. I saw it got great reviews so I will try it first the next time the pizza urge hits.

          Hmmmm. The list is LONG! I'll just start with one thing, not necessarily the top of the list. Chips and Dip...........replaced witih pork rinds and salsa....had a suggestion of adding cream cheese on these with salsa which I have yet to try.

          CHOCOLATE! A big one.....when I get the urge I grab a can of Slim Fast Low Carb Shake which not only satisfys the chocolate urge but is filling too. It works for me.

          When I get a fruit craving I can satisfy it one of two ways.... I get the Low Carb Yogurt and sugar free jello. If I want ice cream I'll get the yogurt.....fruit I go for the jello or the yogurt.

          cheese and crackers.......pork rinds, think sliced cheese and slices of pepperoni if I crave spicy.

              I posted the pizza thing I promised in the recipe section. It was the most incredible thing I've ever done. I'm gonna be an Atkins Rockstar when this catches on!

                i may be weird, as i see so many people who miss pizza - but that's one thing i really don't miss. course, I think I will eventually try out that deep dish pizza from the link that was posted. I know, for me - with pizza - I'm originally from northwest indiana & i lived in chicago for 4 years so it's the REAL TRUE deep dish pizza that i love when i did eat it...but thankfully we don't have REAL deep dish here in indy anyways.

                as far as what i do miss though:
                FRUIT!!!!!!!! i have some blueberries in the fridge right now, but i'm re-doing induction for the next two weeks and so I can't have blueberries or any fruit for that matter - for a while.

                I also do miss beer and wine. we had our housewarming party last night and I now have 7 bottles of wine that I can't drink for a VERY long time!! oh well - wine is supposed to age well, right? - no substitutions for either yet. i love my unsweetened iced tea though!

                I do miss potatoes - mainly because i was the kind of kid that to me, potatoes was my favorite vegetable...however, i LOVE cauliflower so I just use those instead.
                I haven't tried any of the cauliflower recipes yet (such as 'ricing' or mashing cauliflower, but i'm sure i will).
                today i went to pick up wendy's for me and my fiance and i got a baconater (no bun) and a side caesar salad - and he had a baconater with fries. i LOVE wendy's fries - but i didn't touch even one. that was danged hard.

                course, all of this talk of what I do "miss" - i must say what i DON'T miss is (tmi here) getting sick after eating all of those items I just listed (not including the fruit)...i've been on metformin for the past year and once my doc upped my dosage back in september, any and every time i'd eat any type of high carb food, i'd end up in the bathroom for a good hour or more

                oh well - i'm lovin' atkins and i'm sure i'll find some good subs for a lot of those foods.

                course, there WILL come a time that i can have a bit of wine again - but i know that won't be for a long while...

                      wow, this is a good post, but I have found substitues for everything I miss.
                      My wife missed ice cream, so I made low carb frozen custard for her and it rocked.

                      I missed pizza, so I grilled a big round thing of pepperoni and melted mozz on it. like a pepperoni and cheese disc.

                      hmmm..... i dunno

                        Roast potatoes! And ice cream. I really miss ice cream. I haven't found any substitutes for these.

                        I used to like milkshakes too. Now I have a tablespoon of cream, some decaf and ice and top it off with water as a replacement. It's not the same, but its okay.

                          Yes I miss SUGAR. Well I mean everything that it is in! Tiramisu, choco cake, ice cream, those symphony chocolate bars..mmm. But I at least have found a staple I make pretty much every night, it is the induction friendly Chocolate Mousse. It completely gets rid of my brain telling me that I WANT CHOCOLATE.

                            Transipodge, I didn't get the cauliflower yet, but I did check out the carbs in nori.

                            It has 1 gram carb and 1 gram fiber, for a net carb rating of 0.

                            I am trying to add thyroid-stimulating foods into my diet, and the nori is great for that. So this morning I wrapped my scrambled eggs in a nori sheet and cut it into sushi-style slices.

                            I won't say it tasted great, but it was fun, and I'll probably do it again.

                              Roasted potato subsitute I like to take turnips (peel so they aren't bitter) and onions and green peppers cut into chunks and season with olive oil and Chicken seasoning and roast in the oven... you could almost swear they are potatoes if you don't eat too many.

                              Milkshakes: shasta has a diet chocolate soda.. add 2T of heavy cream... yummy also you can do it with diet root beer

                                hot crusty bread slathered with butter....and I haven't found an acceptable replacement. Nothing quite like it
