Hmm... actually, someone who "gets" the Atkins lifestyle would not make the statement that some things on it don't qualify as healthy choices. Again, this points to the fact that you haven't read the book and are only going on what you've "heard".

On Atkins, there is a specific process to be followed when adding carbs back. And we don't wait until we reach goal to do it.

And if you don't agree with the principles behind the Atkins plan, why in the world were you interested in it? If you are one of those who believes in the lowfat dogma, and try to change Atkins to fit that, it just won't work... Atkins is a high fat, moderate protein, low carb way of eating.

Since I follow Atkins and spend my time on this board, I don't have any suggestions where to find another site. Perhaps you should use google?

Second im asking questions and searching for ideas because I have a deadly sweet tooth and must be quenched ! Sugar free seems like a healthy treat .
When I say junk I mean sugar free junk and only here and there not every minute of the day .

( in 12 days I have lost 5 pounds so far and 20 to go )
With all due respect, you don't have a sweet tooth, you have a sweet addiction. If it's one thing about Atkins, it will help stomp out the sugar addiction.
By feeding the addiction you're keeping it alive. Best to stomp it out or it will continue to be a problem for you.
The best advise I can give you to help get rid of the cravings is to take L-Glutamine. L-Glutamine will help stop the cravings of sugar.
            Here's a post that explains how L-Glutamine works. #30
I would suggest you follow the plan 100%, eat just whats on the acceptable food list and take L-Glutamine each day to help you with the withdrawls of sugar.
You're replacing unhealthy habits with healthy ones. That's what makes Atkins a lifestyle and not a diet. "It's a Lifestyle" Making lifestyle changes for life. It doesn't happen in a week, 2 weeks. Or even a year. It's a work in progress and takes a lifetime.
I realize it can get tough along the way. Stick with it, keep learn from it and keep trying. You'll be healthier and happier because of it.
Wishing you good health and lite.

I agree with what Mitzi says here.
I know of a low carb/low fat woe, Southbeach is a great choice for low carb/low fat. Here's their link
                www.sbdbb.com
Just by mentioning low fat here, no one will know what advice to give, for Atkins is a high fat /low carb lifestyle.
Southbeach sounds like it would better suit you. There's folks there that will understand when you mention low-fat/low carb.
Anywho, just a suggestion. Hope you find the answers your searching for.

Re: Hi just a few dumb question's !

Dr. Atkins was a cardiologist who treated many thousands of patients over his lifetime. He was all about healthy choices.

And those of us who do Atkins the way it is written, have nothing but good things happen to our health!

My cholesterol was 198 in Feb, it is now 162. Healthy, or unhealthy? How would you say I am looking?

My nails grow faster than I can keep up with, and I am 45 and don't need moisturizer. I never take naps, I don't think I could if I tried. I can swim for an hour, or do extreme stretching exercises and squats for an hour, I did 250 assorted squats (in triple slow motion!) in one day last week. I can walk quickly 5 miles and not breathe hard. My teen had a hard time keeping up with me for that one!

I was told one day last week that I was glowing and had an infectious laugh. A random compliment from a customer I am barely acquainted with. All my present choices health and diet-wise are carefully aligned with Dr. Atkin's teachings... it it pointing me to healthy or unhealthy would you say!

Re: Hi just a few dumb question's !

Defected, we are not "testy". We are only trying to give you the best advice based on the underlying values of ADBB, which are founded on the Atkins Nutritional Approach from Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002.

Originally posted by Defected View Post

Junk food means food with very little nutritional value. Let's look at the Jell-O pudding. It has 60 calories, 1.5 g of fat, 2 g of protein, 14 g of carbohydrate (values which vary slightly depending on the flavor). If you do the math, you'll see that this adds up to more than 60 calories. To make matters worse, it has hydrogenated coconut and palm kernel oils among the ingredients!

What do you mean by Atkins treats -- Atkins products or a nice grilled fish with flavored butter and salad? Because if you mean Atkins products, you should know that they were recommended by Dr. Atkins only as an emergency food.

Cheesecake. You can make a delicious low carb cheesecake, which I can assure you is more nutritious and healthy than a pre-made pudding containing hydrogenated oils.

some things on it don't qualify for heathy choices - I will keep studying Atkins but I will make it my own !
Yes, but you see... if you change the rules of the game, its name has to be changed too. So if you change the rules of Atkins, it's not Atkins anymore.

Its working for me ! And im still losing weight its simple as exercise and a very low carb low fat low cal diet ...
As long as there is a caloric deficit, you will continue to lose weight. However, this does not mean you are doing it the Atkins way. One problem with eating "very low carb low fat low cal" is that you are not getting the nutrients you need to stay healthy... especially if you're eating low carb junk food. Another problem is that, in time, a low caloric intake can slow down your metabolism. Can you make the way you are eating now a lifestyle? Because if you can't, you'll spend your life dieting and struggling with a screwed up health and a sluggish metabolism.

Show me a site where it would fit my life style !
As Mitzi said, make a Google search. I tried it myself and got a lot of results. I really hope you'll manage to lose the weight and find a board that fits your needs, because at the moment, although you are on the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board, you are not following Atkins.

On ADBB, there is a forum containing links to other low carb bulletin boards. Here's the link to that forum: Offsite Links - Atkins Diet

Re: Hi just a few dumb question's !

If low fat, low cal, low carb diets work... why did you have the rice krispie treats?

If that kind of diet worked, you wouldn't have a sweet tooth, you would be satisfied and feel good.

Unfortunately, doing low fat, low cal at the same time as low carb will not even give you the benefit of ketosis...

Because I weight lift and exercise daily ! Like I said before life is to short not to enjoy some sweet goodness . I only need 20 pounds gone and I think I will lose most of that by working out and then other just by keeping my carbs lower then 50 .
Once I get my weight down and tighten up from weights -cardio ! I will be diet free and just enjoy healthy foods but allow a snack each night . But I found a website that works for me .

Just one more friendly supportive thought.. do you own a car?

Would you knowingly put junky gas in your car?

Do you realize your car can be replaced, you cannot? Hugs to ya, may you find wisdom and success.

Defected, I am not testy I am telling you how I see it. Atkins is high in fat, a contradiction of your diet. You aren't doing Aktins, you don't understand it, and you are arguing against it. This is pointless. Good luck with weight watchers.

I would at times but that's when when maintenance comes into play . Working out will keep my body in good shape and my hart strong and healthy .
3 years ago I was at 2% body fat and was weight lifting long and hard . I would enjoy cookies and snacks without worries ! Only reason why I fell out is a personal matter but I will say my will power is back and nothing I mean nothing will stop me from losing weight not even a sugar free snack ...

I never said I was going to weight watchers ? You told me this already I get it im an out cast to Atkins life style ( even though i had 30 carbs today ) IM not fighting with you or arguing I was just asking questions but I see that offends.

let me add this one thing that you guys may not know ! Weight training is anaerobic and therefore burns primarily carbohydrates (sugar) during the workout.
