      Hello Buddies!

Caramella and Laura~Sorry things have been so hectic for you two lately. Thanks for updating us. Know we are thinking of you and look forward to having you back with us when the time is right.

Buddysgirl~(is that what you want us to call you?). You are doing great on induction! As for water and keeping track...like Focus, I tend to use the same bottle. I drink it and when I go to refill it, I just make a mark on a piece of paper in my kitchen, then add them up at the end of the day. If I am out and about, I just try to remember and add what I drink when I get home. Maybe not the easiest method but I just don't do well at remembering without some help.

Focus~glad to hear you are off to a good start on induction again.

Norman~how has life been treating you?

Sham~how are you buddy? hope everything is ok...miss hearing from you.

I am busy, busy, and busy! I will be out of town until next week but MIGHT have time to check/post on the boards. If not, I will catch up with everyone next week.
My 16 year old son said he wants to try Atkins. He is a very picky eater though, so I might try him on South Beach so he has more options. Not sure yet..we are going to look into it more after our vacation.
      Take care everyone! Jane

I use buddysgirl for my username but my name is Hilda and you can call me either one What ever is easiest.

I do the same thing with the water bottle as you do and also have to keep a check list. I was just curious as to what other people were doing.

Well this thread is getting very quiet. It was a very warm day here and is suppose to just get hotter as the week progresses. I wish we had air conditioning. We have never needed here on the West coast before though. Well I went to the library and got some more books so I am going to curl up in my chair and read for a while before bed...Hope everyone is doing OK

I just finished rereading all the "Anne of Green Gables" series. This time I have James Patterson, Fern Michaels,Iris Johannsen, James Patterson and an author I have never read Jewell Parker Rhodes. I like to get one by an author I don't know so I can find new authors to read. I love reading and the best book I read so far this year has to be "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewski. I highly recommend that one.
What kind of books do you like to read? Any favorite authors? I am always on the lookout for a good book. I just hit pay dirt the other day. Our library had a big book sale on so I donated very highly to their cause. Now I just need more space to put them, and yet I still go to the library for more.

                    Goodmorning Buddies
Wow did we have a thunderstorm last night. Not big news for some of you but for us over here on the North West Coast this just does not happen. Oh we have had a little lightening on the odd occassion and a little thunder like maybe two or three claps of it. I have been here for over 14 years and have never had a storm like this. It was an East Coast thunderstorm on the West Coast. It even knocked out the power for 2 ½ hours. Of course we all loved it here in the park and sat out under out camopies watching. Well except for my poor cat who litterly disappeard to I have no idea where. We live in a trailer so he did not have a lot of choices of where to go.

How is every ones Sunday going?? Lets not let this thread die off as it is nice to come somewhere to talk about our ups and downs with our goal..

                      Hi Buddysgirl:

Talk about lightning storms, ever lived in Miami?

I'm sorry I never got back to you about my favorite authors, etc. I tend to read, and don't shoot me for this one, science books and math books. I just finished reading "The story of e."

LOL Ok so we won't be swapping reading material any time soon. If any one had a worse subject Science was mine.

I use to live in Toronto and yes I know what you mean by lightening storms. But over here on the North west coast we just have never gotten that bad of a storm. Lots of wind is typical for us but not the lightening and thunder stuff. It was actually great to sit out under the canopy and watch the show.

Do you get the real hot weather there in Miami? We have never travelled there yet as we have a winter RV resort in Bullhead City AZ for our winters but I know alot of snow birds do go to Miami for the winter.

Well it is going to be a real hot day here again today and suppose to just get hotter as the week progresses and at my age anything over 72 is to hot . The reason we settled here was because it use to always be around the low 70's in the summer with high 50's for the night time..now it has really changed. Muat be global warming?? lol
                        Have a great day

                          Hi Buddysgirl50:

Today was another day of ferocious lightning storms. They are really amazing here, every afternoon it never fails to thunderstorm. Sometimes the wind can gust to 60 mph or over. The temperature is very hot and humid. The heat index is a soggy 105 degrees F or so.

I do miss snow, though. I was born and raised in the upper west side of NYC. I lived across the Hudson River for 4 years also. The view was spectacular from my house in NJ. I would spend hours with a small telescope gazing at NYC's urban landscape and lights for hours.

I've never been out west simply because I have no brothers and sisters. So I stick around to care for my mother. My dad passed away 8 months ago unexpectedly. Mom wants to stay in Miami. She has COPD and glaucoma so I have to be here to run errands for her, etc.
I'm not bickering though. I'm very content with my life. Life has been very good to me. Yeah, we all get our ups and down but no complaints, so far.
I would love to live out west, or at least away from city lights.

One of my hobbies is amateur astronomy and I own fairly large telescopes. Miami has gotten light polluted so star gazing is difficult here. The only thing worth looking at are the planets. I've been able to focus on some deep sky objects here from my house, but everything is washed out by the sodium vapor lamps used for street illumination. Luckily, they produce only one dominant spectral line which is relatively easy to filter out, but they are still annoying.

Last night I was watching Doc Hollywood. Out pops George Hamilton. Guess what I decided to do? Get a sun tan! Toasty.

Well, the weekend is winding down. It goes by so fast. I'll talk to you later. Take care.

Global warming? Cheez...according to Dr. R. LImbaugh there is no such thing.

You have to get out to the West Coast at least once..There is nothing like the Oregon Coast. It is so beautiful. Now i live further North right on the WA/Canada border.
We do spend our winters though as I mentioned in Arizona..

When i was a kid I was very much into the Astronomy as well but have forgotten all I ever learned I think..

I think it is wonderful that you are there for your mother when she needs you like this. So few families are that close anymore and it is sad to see...

Hilda and Norman and everyone! Hello. Home from vacation. Very tired.

Just visited family. Got to go out on my sister's boat which is fun and relaxing. Went to the movies twice and did some shopping (I live in a rural area so this is a big thing for me lol).

Diet wise...I did pretty good. I had what I call "legal" cheats. I never ate anything completely anti-atkins but just ate a lot of stuff I normally wouldn't (extra coffee, sugar free soda, lots of cheese for example). Overall, everyone was understanding and helpful about my eating habits.

Norman..you and my hubby read the same kind of books.

Hope everyone has a great day!

                              Ps..Sham??? Where are you?
