    Re: Weight Loss

you're welcome. Sometimes folk get so caught up in fixing our Atkins when there is nothing to fix and it is working just not in the way we think it should be.

So now that you know you are shrinking do you think you'd like to add another 5 net grams of those yummy veggies to your eating plan and move to OWL?
We can do OWL as slow as we want taking months on rung if need be so you could just add some veggies and stay right there seeing how you feel and how much loser your clothes are getting. When you are sure it is working okay you could climb the next rung and add 5 more net carb grams of fresh dairy foods.

      Re: Weight Loss

thanks - that was gonna be my next question when i should move on - to be honest im not at all bored with induction i feel good at the moment and feel i would rather stay on induction with the hope of losing more. rather than slow it down slightly, i dont feel im missing anything at the moment - so i take it that its my decision when i chose to move on and there are no set rules that atkins suggest.

      Thanks

        >>when i should move on>>

        Now.

        >>feel i would rather stay on induction with the hope of losing more.>>

That's what happens with OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss). Remember, Induction is about getting your body ready to lose.

        >> i dont feel im missing anything at the moment>>

Call me confused ... your first post in this thread ... you haven't lost in 3 weeks ... so aren't you "missing" losing?

        >>rather than slow it down slightly>>

How do you think OWL will be slower than losing nothing?

        >>i take it that its my decision when i chose to move on >>

        Everything is your choice.

Just remember, you don't get to maintenance without OWL.

And I asked you a question yesterday ... do you think that an extra 5 net carbs of Induction vegetables will hurt? Would you be willing to try it for two weeks?

Liv asked "How many calories is that? " I thought calories aren't counted in Atkins.

            Normally they're not.

However, if a person is undereating (either in net carbs or calories), then it can (and generally is) an issue.

We need to be eating enough food in order to lose.

                Re: Weight Loss

I am having the same stall. I lost 7 lbs quick and then I have stopped until today when the scale budged down a teeny weeny bit after 12 days.

I don't have any advice except stick with it (although I am the most annoyed not seeing the scale move and freak out). I have increasedmy intake of calories and fat to see if that will make a difference. I was around 1200-1300 calories. Now I try to eat more than 1500 (except today I pretty much skipped dinner).

                Best Wishes

                    Re: Weight Loss

I follow Atkins as close as humanly possible and yes i am still on induction now- 3 weeks- I feel some people on this website like to nit pick too much with some of the members. I feel that Atkins is a diet yes, but also deeper than just eating so called perfectly forever. I have adapted Atkins as a lifestyle as he said is important but also a philosophy. Do I really think I will never eat real chocolate again? no way! will i eat pizza again- real pizza- you better believe it-- yes the diet has rules and strict rules but i didn't choose to diet just to lose weight and deprive myself of anything good in life-- this way when I do eat something very nice I do appreciate it more and don't eat it as a lifestyle-- over and over I am reading people here being so critical of other members. Just remember 1 day of eating bad didn't get any of us fat. Bad habits over time, emotional eating, etc all got us here. Even the strictest health nuts take a day off here and there because they have earned the right to enjoy something nice. So really I don't like anyone saying oh I wasn't prepared when I have a special dinner with my girlfriend or eat some nice chocolate. I have disciplined myself to know I will never go back to the lifestyle of eating carbs and sugars everyday. More people here need to be more liberated and use the rules as a tool of freedom, to rid themselves of years of binge eating and bad habits. I really believe doing this and changing the culture of your everyday life will really lead to overall success. So if someone is doing something wrong on the diet, let them know in a friendly way, because don't forget we are all here for the same reason and we all had backgrounds of poor eating.

Atkinsgal.....why do you always find me?! Yes I know it's counterproductive.

I didn't feel like cooking dinner for myself after I made all my meals for tomorrow. Does a piece of bacon, slice of cheese and unsweetened soymilk count?

Soy milk is not allowed on OWL Rung 1.

Some veggies would have been nice to have. Did you eat all of them for lunch and breakfast?

Do you think you're depriving yourself of "anything good in life" by not eating junk food?

Even the strictest health nuts take a day off here and there because they have earned the right to enjoy something nice.
I can enjoy plenty of nice things without eating junk.

If you're unsatisfied with the choices you have on Induction, then maybe it's time you move to OWL.

when I have a special dinner
                            Special dinners can be Atkins-friendly.

If you can't make an Atkins-friendly special dinner, then you haven't read enough recipes or are not familiar enough with the diet.

                            eat some nice chocolate
I added back "nice" chocolate in OWL Rung 3.

I have disciplined myself to know I will never go back to the lifestyle of eating carbs and sugars everyday.
Well, I do eat carbs and sugars every day. They come from vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, diary...

i mean come on- yes i enjoy all the food i eat- but you can't tell me all the food is as good as some of the bad food people enjoy-- yes maybe it is bad nutrition sometimes but it tastes nice-- like a real pasta dinner with real garlic bread-- nothing imitation- you can't tell me this doesn't taste nice

a real pasta dinner with real garlic bread
Never in my life did I eat pasta with bread. They've always been separate meals for me. I don't plan to change that.

In any case, you can have pasta in OWL Rung 9, and you can have bread in OWL Rung 9, too.

you can't tell me this doesn't taste nice
I can't tell you that pasta with bread tastes nice. To me it sounds like a strange combination. I know it's not nice to yuck someone's yum though.

To me, one thing that tastes nice is spinach lasagna or pumpkin gratin, and berries with cream for dessert.
