    Hi! Are you on induction? If so, I don't think you should be eating flaxseed bread as we are allowed one tbsp of flax for digestion a day only. I sometimes sprinkle a tsp or so on my LC porridge (eggs and cream cheese basically),but I stay within limits.

    As far as other mock food, especially the bars, I would advise against. It's best to eat real food, especially when you are just starting out. It seems you may stall easily so you don't want to sabotage your progress.

    Furthermore, just because we are on an Atkins diet does not mean 'treats' cease to be so. Just like we are supposed to have treats sparingly in the standard American diet, we should also be sparing with bars and other desserts. This has been my low carb demise in the past. Treats are for special occasions...food is for everyday.

    What does everyone think of the shirataki noodles on Atkins? I think they're ok once in a while.....

      I highly recommend (and most do here too) avoiding Atkins bars and shakes. and really watching the other items too, making sure to check ingredients for the right OWL rung. I honestly recommend avoiding them for a while until you make sure you're not using them as a crutch or replacement food.

      If you're needing a snack, use something legal such as celery or other veggies (I love pepper slices) mixed with ranch dressing so you get some fat content in.

      Make sure you're getting sufficient fat in (65% of your daily intake). That will help with cravings and hunger.

      As others have said, take your measurements, look out for known stallers, exercise, and if you're still having issues, make sure you do not have any health conditions that could slow/stall weight loss (check with your doctor) as Dr. Atkins recommends. And keep posting and reading here.

              i read the first part and the induction phase....i was going to read the next phase part once i felt comfortable moving on....what am I missing here?

                  OWL is ongoing weight loss, it is where you add more base veggies at 5g weekly (but you should only eat the food you are adding 3x week). Your goal is to find the amount of carbs your body can digest and still allow you to lose...or eventually maintain.

                  I think answering the question is just as easy as being snarky.

                    Actually, OWL is MUCH more than just that.

                    And it's 5 net carbs per day, not weekly.

                    So you would be eating 25 net carbs per day, instead of 20 net as on Induction.

                    That's OWL Rung 1. There's 8 more ... all discussed in the book, Chapter 14.

                      ok, well if i maintain my current diet...and cut out slim jims, soy sauce and all the extras...eat less cheese...and cut out of the other extras....then I should see better results...correct?...Also I am content with my diet, however I did buy a pack of 20 miracle noodles....how do u guys feel about only adding miracle noodles to my new revised diet?

                        I think they should wait until the appropriate rung of OWL.

                        I also think that you should do OWL as it's intended ... people who don't progress often fall off ... because they get bored.

                          glad you found your staller in those slimjims, but to test them you should make only one change so drop them for a week and sww if your sclaes and inches get smaller again. then you can make another change either moving to OWL or adding something legal for your induction like some flax

                            Also, as I wrote earlier:

                            It would be really helpful if along with that wonderful list of foods above, you would provide the net carbs with each item.

                            It's really unclear exactly what your eating is.

                              check your noodles and see if they are just fiber and water. if so they will be legal but don't go overboard eating them as they can cause gas issues, bloating and added weight as they hold fluids during their journey through you.


                              i will tell you many folk do not enjoy the texture nor the taste and smell of the noodles.

                                Unless you like chewing on rubber bands

                                I often make noodles from peeling strips of aubergines (eggplants) or courgettes (zucchini) and lightly steaming or frying them in butter, or making very thin omelettes and slicing them into strips
