    about the bar placement statement too if you think about it as most folk doing Atkins and coming her who have a book they stopped at chapter 11 and said thats for me and jumped into induction without reading the rest of the book. then there are those who say man that chapter 11 stuff I'm not surre I could do that maybe I'll skipo that and go to the next part and they keep reading, They discover the other induction chapter and say now with my schedule I could do that! And they are what I call a slimfaast Atkninner doing a bar and/or shake Atkins but like a slimfast loser have no idea how to eat real food when they get smaller and are doomed to be a repeat customer which is why we try so hard to be like Martin Luther and tear the offending chapter from our book disuading others from doing it.

      It's taken me 3 days to read(skim) through 12 pages to catch up. Nice.

      Yea, we're on to the vitamin section.

      What's your flavor of vitamins that keep you going during this way of eating?

        i take:
        multivitamin for those over 50.
        calcium
        a formula for hair, skin and nails
        potassium when i can remember

        i throw an herb or two in there too when i got the money to do it.

          when I did induction I took a multiVP and 2-3 OTC potassium pills per my docs instructions. when i wnet to OWL I removed the potassium. But I got 3 rungs of rung 1 in my foods so I east lots of veggies.

            I use Atkins Basic #3 or #1 when I can get them couriered from the UK. Otherwise an over 50s Italian multivit which is the only one without iron I can find here. Also take Atkins Essential Oils.

            Also take something called "Terra Silecea" (Silicea earth) for calcium, but am not sure if this is quite right. My health food shop lady sold it to me and am wondering... Was actually considering taking calcium tabs instead, but am not sure which type are the best as some apparently don't get absorbed as well as others. Anyone have any info on this?

            Oh and take soya lechithin too.

                      Bless ya Jimmie! You're a whizz! The info I'd previously found on the net re that silicea stuff, made me suspicious that it did everything under the sun except help the ol bones!

                        sally why soya lechithin? you know it is in the vits and it is in eggs.

                        calcium is a needed nutrient but if you pick your foods well you can get it from them.. now that the yogurt folk are pushing calcium for weight loss many folk are actually getting too much. the weight loss calcium thing is misleading cause calcium only helps weight loss IF you were deficient. cause when we are deficient the body in the parathyroid generates a chem that pulls calcium from bones and interfers with thyroid hormone. it is that thyroid interferance that is the weight loss aspect. get your calcium intake up the chem is shut off andf the thyroid levels go up making your metabolism work better as every ody cell nees thyroid to work.

                          Really only thought to take calcium because I'm menopausal...

                          As for the soya lechithin... that was my doc's suggestion. My cholesterol levels are good in that the ratio is 2.7 (yay!) and trigs are good... but totals and LDL is are little high (offset by great HDL). Started out eating oats in the mornings, but they are too carby for my CCLM. So far the lechithin has lowered the LDL a little.

                            What are the best vitamins and/or herbs to help with hair? I am once again going through a hairloss from the WOE. Went through it when I started back in 2003 and now once again. I would have thought with the extra protein from the eggs and meat that our hair should be shiny and healthy. Any suggestions?

                                personally, i took the fat fast to be a way to get things started ONLY if you aren't losing any other way. and not just a time of 3 days. over a course of time. i took it as a last resort type of thing. when you have eliminated all the other things that he has stated throughout the book.


                                on the hair loss: walmart sells a brand of vitamin that has a blend of vitamins specific to hair, nails and skin. the bottle is downstairs but by nights end i will get the ingredients in this thread. i have some hair loss but mostly from age related issues. taking this supplement helped to slow that loss and i have noticed stronger nails when i take it.
