    1. Share with the other Challengers, the positive coments you have received as you have lost weight and increased your exercise. Comment on how those remarks made you feel.
    I have been told that I look happy, rested, thinner. I felt great and it encouraged me to keep going when I found the going more difficult.

    2. Think of how you can be positive when negative remarks are made to you.
    State your positive answers to the following:

    "Atkins is a fad diet that doesn't work. Why would you choose to do that diet anyway? You know people die from eating no carbs."
    First of all, I DO eat carbs. Second of all, this is my second time on Atkins, the first time worked and I gained back my weight due to a jealous boyfriend who totally sabotaged me. I am stronger than that now.
    "You've never stuck with anything. Why not just eat what you want and be happy?"
    Because I was NOT happy. If I was happy, I would not have changed my WOE. And eating what I wanted was making me fat and unhealthy and therefore unhappy...
    "Your exercise is getting you nowhere. I don't see any changes whatsoever."
    Well I have seen the changes and I am the only one that matters.

          1. Think of a member of the ADBB that you believe is a positive influence. Find one positive post of the member and quote it here. Make sure the post has some "meat" to it and not just a word of Congratulations.

          This is a tricky one because there are so many people on this board that inspire me, but I think for this one I'm gonna have to go with my fellow STAC member OutbackJess. Here is a good one that she started the day off with for us:

          Look around you, all these new STAC members....
          Who will be here in a month? In 3 months? 6 months? A YEAR???
          Life on these boards comes and goes. I've been here 10 months, daily almost. I have a couple of friends who also have been here that long. The same moderators are here, and the same Admin. are here. YOU ARE HERE...

          But will you stay? Will you work it every day, or just blip away? or slip away.

          Early on I came back to Atkins to feel good again. I felt so bad on sugars. I needed peace with food, more than weight loss and I was pretty heavy, and out of shape. I needed energy and freedom from terrible moodiness.
          I have those things now, and a much thinner body.
          My primary need for peace with myself and peace with my foods has not changed. Thinnness is really a by product of having my real needs met.

          I set a goal to be here in a year. It's 10 months. Where will you be in a year. Will those around here be your friends. Are you doing this together?
          Where will you be in a month, 3,6, 9 months? There is so much more to this than a diet. There is the opportunity to really change your lifestyle.
          I look around at "who is still here" and I admire it alot. I look at who has maintained their weight loss and I admire that achievement soooo much.
          I want to be here in a year, and then I want to be here like so many Mod's in another year.
          So few dig deep and go for the bigger picture, how about you?

            A lot of people have told me that I look "skinny". It's kind of a weird comment to make because I don't see myself as "skinny" but I can still appreciate the kind words. People have said I look great and they've asked me what I've done. One friend was suprised because he had not seen me in a long time. He didn't have words, the look on his face said it all! Another guy I knew in high school told me (in front of my boyfriend) that I got hot. Sometimes the comments are good and other times they are borderline embarassing. My boyfriend tells me I looked beautiful before and I look beautiful now. That comment really warms my heart, because he has always been slim but he started dating me when I was not. He loves me for who I am and I think his comment is best!

            2. Think of how you can be positive when negative remarks are made to you. State your positive answers to the following:

            "Atkins is a fad diet that doesn't work. Why would you choose to do that diet anyway? You know people die from eating no carbs."
            If it doesn't work how did I lose almost 40lbs? I tried low calorie before and was starving. I love this diet because I'm not denying myself food. The Atkins diet is not a no carb diet, I eat plenty of healthy carbs from veggies, fruits and whole grains. Besides, it's not a diet at all, it's a way of life.

            "You've never stuck with anything. Why not just eat what you want and be happy?"
            I've stuck with this WOE/WOL for a year and a half now. I am eating what's good for my body and it works. Just because we want something, doesn't mean it's good for you. Besides, I don't need food to be my source of happiness, there is more to life than cake.

            "Your exercise is getting you nowhere. I don't see any changes whatsoever."
            Wanna arm wrestle?

            "Come on, it's the best carrot cake ever made! It's made special from the Carbs-R-Us Bakery. One piece is not going to kill you."
            I'm sure it's the best, in fact, you can have my share since you like it so much.

              1. I haven't gotten around to reading too many of the past posts or postss on the other boards past the induction board so I haven't seen too many members posts. A few people I know always seems to respond with encouragement is Elizellen and ValidRouge. I will continue working on this one. It is also a good way to make me read other posts.

              2. Still working on...trying to read through posts.

              3. Posted: That I don't have to spend 5 minutes considering if I could get into something (airline seat, ride at the carnival). That I can keep up witha group of people when walking. And then of course a ditto to all the previous posts.

                1. I haven't truly lost a ton of weight yet, but previously when I have done this I can remember when people would ask if I had lost weight and tell me how great I look. It always made me feel great because I couldn't tell. I knew I was losing according to the scale, but couldn't see the changes. It is always a good motivator to keep going.

                2. I haven't had negative comments (unless you count the comments made in elementary school-kids are so mean-those of course always hurt, but didn't motivate me). I think for myself, if I started hearing comments like the ones posted above, I would probably make sure and be glad I have before/after pics and measurements to prove at least to myself that it works and it's worth it!

                        I have had people that I havn't seen after I had lost over 100 lbs smile and break down in tears and are speachless with a stare like a deer looking into headlights. I get comments like " Hey skinny", and, "You were beautiful before,but now you're drop dead gorgeous." A fella I hadn't seen in a while, who has a sense of humor, said to me " you're at birth weight" I thought my husband was gonna deck him. My husbands really protective of me! Then their are those that are a little jealous and say things like,"Oh, the weight loss won't last", or "What did you have, a surgery?" I never get offensive, I just tell them " alot of hard work and dedication that I plan on continuing for the rest of my life". Most of all, it's the smiles and attention I get from complete strangers that I get in public. I no longer walk around feeling as though Im invisible. I AM NOTICED AND NOT AVOIDED. My Doctor has titled me his "POSTER CHILD" for weight loss. I told him I wanted to be successful and he told me" I already was".Above all, My husband married me for the person that I am. The weight loss is just a bonus! 2.)#1 I tell them, Well isn't it obvious it works for me, you otta try it.#2 I havn't had this one, but I would tell them that I do eat WHATEVER I WANT TO AND I'm more than happy, I'm estatic!#3 Havn't had this one but would tell them that Exercise feels good, you otta try it.#4 I've had this one alot and that's when I do tell them." No thank you, you can have my share" Finally "How do all of these comments make me feel? BEAUTIFUL,SEXY,FLIRTY,HAPPY,ON CLOUD NINE, AND MOST OF ALL, I FOUND THE PERSON THAT WAS SCREAMING TO COME OUT!

                          Challengers, we are on the home stretch!

                          We've talked about being positive and planning. We shared with each other the things we've learned from the posts of others and how their support has helped us and others.

                          Time to PAY IT FORWARD and pass on what others have done for us!

                          DAY 6 Monday
                          This is the Put Things Into Practice Day

                          1. Visit at least 5 different, recent threads in the Celebration! Forum AND 5 different, recent threads in the Before and After Pics Forum. Add your positive comment to each thread. Do not copy/paste your remarks. Put some thought into your comment as you would hope someone would do for you. A sentence will do, you don't have to write a novel, but post more than a "Congratulations!" one word post.

                          NOTE: Some of you are already in the habit of doing this type of posting and there may not be any recent threads you have not posted to. If this is the case, consider this portion of todays assignment done. For those not in the habit of posting in those 2 forums, let this be the beginning of spreading postitive comments.

                          2. Visit a thread where someone is struggling with a cheat, not drinking enough water or some other kind of problem. Offer positive reinforcement to this member. If you have trouble searching for this kind of post, use the ADBB Search. Type in the word "cheat" or "problem" and see what you get. Make sure the thread you are answering to is recent.

                          NOTE: If the post/person you want to comment to is found in Journal Stats (an owner only posting forum) you may opt to send a private message to the member.

                          Keep in mind all the things that you have done for assignments during the past few days and be a postitive encourager!

                            I've only had one person remark on my weight loss so far and that was my step-mother. She said she could tell I had been working really hard and was proud of me doing so and didn't know how I did it with 3 little ones.

                            I have had several people compliment me on how much I work out and how I am more active now. My fitness coach at the Y the other day said I was looking good 'out there' meaning while I was working out.

                            I love hearing these comments - makes me feel good.

                            2. Think of how you can be positive when negative remarks are made to you.
                            State your positive answers to the following:

                            "Atkins is a fad diet that doesn't work. Why would you choose to do that diet anyway? You know people die from eating no carbs."

                            "I've done my research and know that it's not a fad diet and it not a NO carb diet. Have you?"

                            "You've never stuck with anything. Why not just eat what you want and be happy?"

                            "Because I wasn't happy when I was eating what I wanted - just miserable and fat"

                            "Your exercise is getting you nowhere. I don't see any changes whatsoever."

                            "But I FEEL better and that's what counts."
                            And depending on who said it, I'd add "Maybe YOU"D feel better if YOU exercised."

                            "Come on, it's the best carrot cake ever made! It's made special from the Carbs-R-Us Bakery. One piece is not going to kill you."

                              i am one of the mods of the Celebration! forum and a mod of the Before and After Pics forum. one thing i do is start many of the threads in the celebration forum, among them is the member of the day. i also continue to post to nearly every thread in the pics forum. this will continue.

                              i sent off a private message to one who is struggling with being overwhelmed and thinking of just not being on the board. i see this often enough to know that this thinking, this kind of posting leads to the member not ever coming back and ultimately, never reaching goal.

                              this was done on this sunday afternoon but i am sure another pm will go out by mid morning on monday.

                              Keep in mind all the things that you have done for assignments during the past few days and be a postitive encourager!
