Didn't feel well last night so didn't read as much as I wanted. I'm currently on Chapter 13 & have highlighted numerous sections. Talking about goal weights, the BMI chart etc... I love this line...

"This isn't climbing Mount Everest; you can reach your goal weight."

This section is also reassuring as I feel it's okay that my weight loss is slow. I'm losing & that is all that matters. I use to get bummed when I would read posts about people losing 13+ pounds during Induction. Several things Dr A wrote are comforting!

"When people learn that they can lose weight quickly, as they do during Induction, they sometimes take their ability to lose weight for granted. They don't think in terms of a lifetime commitment to the Atkins lifestyle~just a quick fix for overindulgence. The result of this faulty thinking is yo-yo dieting and metabloic resistance to weight loss."
"The slower the progress, the more chance you have to permanently change bad habits over the long term."

That is my goal~~to change bad habits!!! I am truly appreciating the journey of every pound & inch I lose!!!

Have a great day my fellow readers!

      Hi Everyone:

i sure am enjoying this challenge. I read through induction, owl and pre maintenance the last 2 days.

I noticed that when I've done Atkins in the past, I never realized the freedom and the design of the plan. I always stayed in induction and thought that induction was doing Atkins.
I now realize that induction is just a tool to break addictions, create confidence that you can lose weight and helps manage cravings etc.

******I did notice that he mentioned that to get into ketosis it is not the ratio of protein to carbs that gets you there, it is the ratio of fat to carbs to get you there.

*****I also noticed that after induction and moving into OWL, that you can control the rate at which you lose weight.

I'm starting to learn a lot about myself. "Hello, self!"

      Have a good day, everyone!

These are very powerful words, indeed! We have to change a lifetime of "diet" mentality. I wish I could thank Dr. A personally. He has changed so many lives for the better.

this is something that really bothers me. not the post, glenda, but the people who use this as a quick fix. they are not learning the tools to keep the weight off. also, not sticking with induction as they should. i mucked up rungs pretty badly but induction was spot on. had i messed that up i don't know if i'd be where i am today.

as for Mount Everest... well sally and i have climbed the bad boy! right, sal?? i think atkins woe is easier. lolol

i won't be posting the homework yet either. lol you may have to reread it if you get too far ahead. although that might not be so bad.

i've x'd you on my chart and the smiley face for part two will be added to the next update!

Too right... The last third of Everest nearly killed me! The last third of Atkins was leisurely and very pleasant. Getting to the top of Everest was awesome... getting to goal on Atkins, even more so!

glenda, it's the Pledging Flights Challenge. we take the stairs instead of the elevator or lift, as the brits call it. we climb! we climb buildings, mountains, towers, bridges, all sorts of things. sally and i, plus one other member have gotten to the top of everest . sally and i, so far, are the only two to complete all the mountains in that set, of which everest was the highest.
