Reading everyone's answers to the questions is giving me a warm fuzzy feeling! It is heart warming to see how a WOE/WOL has brought everyone together & we have all connected because of it. I bet Dr. A never in his wildest dreams thought that something like this would happen. It truly is a wonderful thing!!

        I’m Committed! Oh, Really?
        Homework/Board Work
        1. Copy/paste the Challengers Commitment into your Journal either in Journal Chats or Journal Stats or write it into your personal journal.

Done! Had to start a journal in which to paste it!

        2. Copy and paste the following questions in this thread and then answer. You may also place this in your journal but it is not a requirement.

        · Why are you here at the ADBB? To be with like-minded people with the same goals. Every time I answer someone elses question, I reinforce this WOL for myself. Every time I give advice, I remember that I need to practice what I preach. I would never ask someone else to do what I am not willing to do myself.

        · Why are you doing Atkins? I have known for some time that I do not properly metabolize carbohydrates. This is the only way I can lose weight, but the best part is finding out that I am allergic to wheat and grain and I have now 'cured' many health problems by sticking strictly to this WOE. I truly love this WOE and I know I can live this way for the rest of my life.

        · What does the word “commitment” mean to you? Giving my word to do or not do something. To give my all in any endeavor in which I participate. There is no half ways in my life. Either it is worth my full effort or it's not worth doing at all.

        3. Find a quote concerning commitment and share it in this thread.

Commitment creates a powerful radiant energy that activates all sorts of "miracles" within and around you. ~ Susan Jeffers

Commitment is a line you must cross....it is the difference between dreaming and doing. ~ Bernie Fuchs

Desire is the key to motivation, but it's the determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal, a commitment to excellence that will enable you to attain the success you seek. ~ Mario Andretti

        4. Comment on the following quote:
“Commitment is what transforms the promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions and the actions which speak louder than
words. It is making the time when there is none. It means coming through time after time, year after year. Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism”

This is a beautiful quote! It is the embodiment of how I try to run my life. Making this WOE a WOL has made me restructure my life to make time where there is no time. Especially time to exercise. There has to be time. After failing to finish my to-do list day after day, and falling more and more behind, I sat down with pencil and paper and made out a schedule, stuck to it and I finished everything with ease and had time left over. Where I had been dragging through my exercise program at near bedtime, I was finishing up before lunch!

        5. Make a list of synonyms for the word “commitment“. Put this list in your journal.

        dedication
        devotion
        obligation
        pledge

        promise
        tenacity
        steadfastness
        endurance
        morally bound
        responsibility
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."

          · Why are you here at the ADBB?
I am feeding off of the success of others. It is good for advice, support, and Atkins knowledge.

          · Why are you doing Atkins?
I have wated so much time and energy thinking about how I used to look and dreaming about being that way again. It is time to stop dreaming and make it a reality. I am doing Atkins because it works. Seeing is believing! I visited a friend in Austin that I had not seen for a few years. She lost 109 pounds in 9 months by doing Atkins. She was the happiest I had ever seen her. Her keeping it off for over 2 years is a testimony that it can be done and it is not just a "quick fix" or fad diet. It is a NEW WAY OF LIFE for me.

          · What does the word “commitment” mean to you?
Commitment is "putting your money where your mouth is." It is making a promise and keeping it regardless of the hassle, hardships, setbacks, or skepticism. Commitment is not letting unbelief or doubt enter your mind. Commitment is making what is in your head, a reality. Commitment is saying to yourself and making it happen....................."I will not compromise."

          3. Find a quote concerning commitment and share it in this thread.
"If you want to take your mission in life to the next level, if you're stuck and you don't know how to rise, don't look outside yourself. Abolish your fears and raise your commitment level to the point of no return, and I will guarantee you tht the Champion Within will burst forth to propel you toward victory." Bruce Jenner

          4. Comment on the following quote: This was so awesome that I had to break it down sentence by sentence and apply it to my own life. (My comments are in black).

“Commitment is what transforms the promise into reality. (Fulfilling a promise requires commitment. I am promising myself that I will achieve my goal of 150 pounds).

It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions and the actions which speak louder than words. (I am making a bold statement by saying, "I will lose 76 pounds of fat." My words are not empty or void. When I achieve my goal weight, the action will speak louder than just telling someone that I will do it).

It is making the time when there is none. (Great things are not achievable without self sacrifice).

It means coming through time after time, year after year. (It requires determination and being steadfast. Achieving my goal, it will be infinitely rewarding).

Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things. (My character is built when I have to work for something rather than it just being handed to me. There is no limit to where my body can take me, once I have set my mind straight).

It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism” (The truth that I will keep my commitment and make this happen will squash all doubt of others).

            · What does the word “commitment” mean to you? Commitment to me is to follow through until the end, whatever that might be. In this case, if Atkins is my WOL, that means I will do Atkins as long as I am alive.

elsy, do you think it will be an easy task to do this life? i often wonder how people really view that "life long" part of things.
Jimmie, I know for a fact it's not easy to do this for the rest of my life. If I can learn to move up the rungs and get to the point where I am eating different fruits, nuts, grains, legumes, etc, then it'll be easier to do this for the rest of my life. That's for sure. Then I won't be tempted to eat off plan.

You are excatly right Elsy, that's how I think as well. And you've been doing this long enough, I would like to see you strive for eating from all rungs for the new year. I have been where you're at, and am still learning, but am eating from all food groups at the present time. Fruit, very little of because it still scares me. It sounds like you've got Atkins in your blood for life now!

Sunny, Love the synonym "morally bound" Gives it a new meaning to me. I also like where you said, "Either it is worth my full effort or is not worth doing at all." NICE!

It is a NEW WAY OF LIFE for me.

what a boost for your buddy to see the changes in her body! and what a testimony to you! i can simply see that your friend was committed and saw that commitment through to her goal and in maintaining.

Commitment is saying to yourself and making it happen....................."I will not compromise."

nicely put! i especially like the regardless part. commitment, most likely, will have some of those things you listed but they should not dictate the end journey.

                          3. Find a quote concerning commitment and share it in this thread.
"If you want to take your mission in life to the next level, if you're stuck and you don't know how to rise, don't look outside yourself. Abolish your fears and raise your commitment level to the point of no return, and I will guarantee you tht the Champion Within will burst forth to propel you toward victory." Bruce Jenner

isn't it great that the satisfaction we get from accomplishing one commitment will spur us on to be better in the next?

It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism” (The truth that I will keep my commitment and make this happen will squash all doubt of others).

i love the way you broke it down for yourself.

I think I am here mainly because I have doubts I can maintain my own individual will power to stay on the WOL for the rest of my life. I tried to think of any other long term committment I have been able to keep...by myself...and cannot think of any. We all need the support of our peers to succeed. Jimmie, unfortunately I'm going to have to back out of this challenge. I've got to many things going on in to many directions. (Holidays) Thank you for this challenge. I know it's going to help ALL those who participate. They'll learn so much about themselves and finally say things they didn't realize were there waiting to come out. I know, because thats what happened with me in the I Am Worth It Challenge 1. This is an awesome challenge. Wishing all good health and lite!
