Wow, Debbie, those ideas do sound good, and really creative! Not sure when Tickle will come on, but she may enjoy that Kale idea! What did that sour cream egg dish taste like? Was it like a custard? It sounded interesting.

Just got done mowing our yard, and I'm HOT so didn't feel like eating something hot. So far, instead of the fish and scallops, I had a chunck of cheddar cheese and 1/3 apple. For some reason Cheddar, Mozzerella, and Cream Cheese don't seem to bother my stomach, but sour cream, ice cream, and especially heavy whipping cream does...hmmmm urplequ:

It does taste like a custard. You chill it after you bake it. It was kinda sweet to me. I think I put too much Splenda in it, or maybe too much syrup. The directions I got weren't specific on measurements.

Here is a link to the dishes I told you about earlier.

Good Morning, friends. Haven't got a menu going...I'm feeling very heartsick about Ari missing. I'm hoping its just a busy weekend, and not a gone forever kind of a thing. How was your camping Debbie?

Ok, This was BUSY weekend, full of temptations, and I caved, but I'm back to being strong today. Since I have to admit my cheats, it was 1/2 c. of ice cream on Saturday, and let me see....oh yeah, crumb cake, 2 garnola bars, and a popsicle on Sunday. Now I have to take my punishment and spend the next 48 hours trying to get back into ketosis. It should be quick, since I'll be walking again.

Look forward to seeing how you did this weekend Deb and Ari.

        Menu:
        B. sausage and eggs
        L. chicken and salad
        S. Brats and cauliflower

          G'morning Mari!

Made it back :wave I was SOOOO good this weekend.... until.... Saturday night :sadblinky My hubby worked Saturday and stopped at the store for more stuff. He brought up a blueberry pie and a sugar-free cherry (my fave) so I HAD to have a little. Then Sunday I had a Smirnoff Ice and another piece of pie (sigh). Oh well, other than that I was good. Got on the scales this morning and I'm up 4 lbs but hopefully it's all water and will come off in a day or two.

I didn't get a lot of exercise but did walk a little and scorched in the sun. I'm going to the gym tonight to hit it hard :nod

My menu today has leftovers and I have no clue to the carb or calorie count. I'll try to figure it out on fitday later. Here goes:

          B - Coffee, 1 Splenda, omelet w/3 eggs & 1/2 C spinach
L - My dutch oven leftover that has chicken, sausage, mushrooms, jicama, turnips and string beans. And a 1 C spinach salad for good measure.
D - No clue yet. Probably chicken & broccoli or more leftovers.

Camping was fun. I didn't go overboard on drinking like I normally do. Other than the pie (which I did scold hubby about before I had some) I thought I did pretty well.

Hope y'all have a great day! Monday Monday.......... :anger

Hi girls, I'm here :wave ... sorry for making you worry so much - you're such a sweetie Marion! :hug

I didn't log into the board for the last few days because I really got sick of the board last week. I was so surprised with the number of negative emails floating around - people griping at each other and being on the offensive - maybe it was the full moon last week? Strange behaviour have been recorded against the lunar cycle...

Also because I wanted to go on a COMPLETE HIKE off the WOE and in the process I'm looking at another 8 POUNDS :yikes sitting on my scales at the moment *sigh* Why do I do this to myself every single time? :no I think it's being told I can't have something just yet that makes me want to go do the opposite.

But that's ok... it'll take me the rest of the week to take these pounds off and set me back a week, and plus another reminder that some carbs just don't make me feel as good as the good ol' steak & veg.

But looks like both of yous have been going really well in the last few days!!!
Marion - CONGRATS on making 315s!!! :hug
Debbie - what's a "dutch oven" meal? I know a dutch oven is a pot with 2 little handles on each side...

HI TICKLE!!! WELCOME BACK!!! :hug :hug :hug :hug :hug :hug Isn't it nice to know you'll never find negativity directed at you here? If someone does come in here and do that, I'll box their ears for you! You're back! Thats all that matters! And I'll be willing to bet those 8 pounds are mostly water! Gone in a few pee's....ok, sorry for the vulgarity! :no

Ok, Dutch Oven meals....Debbie can explain better than me, but I think its a cast iron dutch oven that you put your whole meal in, put a few good and hot coals on top, and let it cook all day while you do other various fun things, and when you come back, its done! There was a show on PBS (public broadcasting channel) here every Saturday morning my DH and I used to watch that taught how to make all these awesome dutch oven meals. I've been wanting one myself, and this week Thursday there's one on sale for $10US, which I'm gonna go get!

Ok, yesterday I did really good...but no exercise. Today I was supposed to go hiking, but its pouring, and I have to go babysit while my SIL sleeps, so no hike. But maybe I'll get some swimming in this afternoon. Same stuff for meals...not even worth posting again. But I will be having one non Atkins friendly thing today.... a decaf latte tonight with 3 Splenda. I don't know if its a cheat persay, but there are like 11 carbs in it from the milk. But I haven't had one in a long time, and my SIL is taking me out...so...is that ok?

Debbie, your camping sounded fun! Glad you're back without a cheat to report! As for the SF pie....hey, I would of eaten the whole thing! Good on ya! Catch up with you all later! Bye.

awww shucks you're truly the best, but you know that coz I hope I've told you millions of times already! :yes
And you make me laugh!!! I had a picture of you trying to box someone's ears...
please, please, please, pray that Marion's right, that I have 8 pounds of water weight - geez I hope it is because I just cannot see 8 pounds of bloating on me, but I feeeeeeeel crap - I've never known what induction flu or carb withdrawal feels like, but I bet it is the crap I'm feeling now and LOLOLOLOL - you've definitely got cute vulgarity Marion! :hug

hmmm... so a dutch oven meal is like putting all your ingredients into one pot and letting it cook all day on residual heat... Do you bury it in the ground or something? :confused
I know it sounds like a silly comment, but I know the Fijians (and many of the Pacific Islanders) heat up hot stones and place these in the sand. Then they wrap their meat & fish in banana leaves or similar, and put them on the hot stones and cover them with sand and they cook for a few hours on the hot stones buried
... so is a dutch oven something like this?

Hey, I think a decaf latte with Splenda IS perfectly legal :yes
                - it hasn't got any caffeine OR sugar, and you could lower the carb count by asking for more cream than milk in it maybe? You know, make your dairy more "full" by increasing the fat proportion to it?
I don't know - I've never been a coffee drinker so I'm talking out of my arse at the moment LOLOL

Debbs, what does jicama taste like? I don't think it's a veggie we get here, and I've only read about it, but I'm intensely curious about the flavour - it sounds nice! As for camping, there's no way I'd be so lucky to eat what you did on your camping trip my other half loves camping the hard way - walking for half a day into the campsite, carrying our tents, sleeping bags, billycan, keeping our backpacks as light as possible - you don't know how much I dream of steaks and fresh veg every time I go camping!!! All I end up with is freeze-dried pseudo "meat" and freeze-dried peas or similarly freeze-dried light and compact carb-loaded sides! LOL

                  G'morning! :wave

LOL @ Tickle! My hubby & I are old so we don't "rough" it anymore. I used to be the hiking/tent person but that is long past!

Jicama is an interesting looking veggie. I'll email a picture to you if you want. The skin is tougher than a potato but it has a potato flavor. You can cook it for days but it will still be a little crispy. Turnips are very flavorful in the dutch oven! :nod

Yes, a dutch oven is a cast iron pot. My hubby browns all the meat and onions, then throws everything else in. He puts coals on top of it and cooks it top & bottom. It doesn't take long that way. My sister puts hers in the ground and puts coal on top and cooks it all day long. You put the spices you like in with everything and it's to die for!!!

Well, my little cheat cost me 6 lbs. Sheesh! How come it doesn't come off that easy?? Oh well.... onward.

I went to the Ortho doc about my foot. I'm scheduled for surgery on July 8th so I won't be around for a few days after that. I'm having some nerves removed. After it heals I'll be able to WALK!!! For more than just a mile, and with NO PAIN!!! I can't wait! Exercising lately has been more painful than beneficial.

                  It SUX getting old :anger

Hey Debbie, YOU'RE NOT OLD!!!!!!!! :hug Please, please don't say you are, bad enough that I've always thought 30yo was old ever since I was 12, so I need to know we get younger as we get older!!!!

Ok, ok, I've gone absolutely nuts. I'm so envious that you get to camp with all the mod cons, that your kids are all grown up, you have a life you call your own, you have 2 cats, and you're allergic to chocolate - what a blessing! imagine not being able to eat this one food that you're not supposed to eat on Atkins - chocolate is my one main vice!!!! *sigh*

I can almost feel your happiness Debbie in getting those orthotics! :joy I couldn't walk for long distances when I started Atkins coz I had pulled the muscles in the soles of my feet and ended up with heel spurs. I had to wear orthotics and when we went to Egypt last year, I practically cried trying follow my tour group. Trying to ice them in the middle of winter was a bone-chiller too. But as the weight came off, and coupled with those orthotics, the pain gradually went, and I'm so thrilled just being able to walk home from work everyday, so yeah, I'm really happy for you Debbie! :hug

Jicama sounds like they make the perfect chips eh? Pity I can't even bring seeds into this country - Australia is soooooo strict with quarantine laws so we can't even bring seeds in for few of contaminating the local flora and fauna. And dutch oven meals sounds so delish!!!! Don't I wish we have smellavision and tastavision over the internet!

:yes it's a bastard trying to get rid of these 8 pounds. So we take absolutely weeks to get these pounds off, and we end up going on a carb hike for a few days, and it just piles on with a snap! of the fingers, just like that :no no fair!

I heard Marion got a new pool and then she went offline and no news since! MARIONI wanna hear about how wonderful your new pool is!!!!!

I'm here! I'm here! Two seperate SIL's ran me to Topeka yesterday, and both took FOREVER picking out the things they were buying, so I didn't get home till almost midnight! By then I was bushed! Definitely think I walked a few miles yesterday in the differant stores we visited! And I had SUCH a hard time....I wanted to buy so many things, and I just kept putting them back. I especially had a hard time putting the decaf chocolate caramel nut flavored ground coffee back, and the SF caramel syrup! Not good since I gave up Splenda on a daily basis. (I do treat myself once in a while now)

Debbie, and Tickle....now its my turn to be envious! I WANT TO GO CAMPING!!! So happy for you both that you get out and enjoy nature that way!

Won't have the pool till this weekend! Then I'll never be online, since I'll be in the pool! JUST KIDDING!!! :tounge

You know, one of my SIL's was married to a man from the Marshall Islands. He did one of those underground pig roasts here one year with his brother...I wasn't married into the family yet, but I've heard about how good it was! Unfortunatly he was killed in a car accident 5 years ago now, so we didn't have another opportunity to try it!

Ari, I so hope you're feeling better today! I know that carb bloat can really be devastating! Could also be something you ate reacted with you a little? Eight pounds is ALOT to gain in a couple days, and it sounds to me like you might have an allergy to something you ate! I wish both you and Debbie speedy Whooshies!

Debbie, good luck with your surgery! I've had bad foot pain in the past, and know the torture! May it never return to you!

Ok, I'm off to check some other places! But quick, what I ate yesterday and what I plan to eat today:

                      Yesteday:
                      B. 2 1/2 cold bratwurst
                      L. A taco salad from a restaurant...PROBABLY WAY MORE CARBS THAN I KNEW, Iced Latte with SF hazelnut syrup
                      S. 2 pieces of chicken, and 1 T. burrito filling( refried beans etc....tasted the spoon) 1 Latte with SF vanilla flavoring

                      Today:
                      B. sausage and eggs
                      L. taco salad again....boring but oh so yummy

You do not want to go camping LOL trust me, waking up in the morning feeling like you've just slept on a piece of metal all night, eating freeze dried meat, veg, nuts, aaaaaallll day, trying to "go" in the bushes and bury your toilet paper LOLOL ok, enough grossness from me! My suggestion Marion is to go "car-camping" and not rough it like Debbie does - you know, take your doona & pillow, your tins of meat and fish, your lounge-chair (if you can fit into boot) and enjoy nature the comfy way!!! :yes

You did good not buying all those SF stuff - if you gonna give in to sweet things, I reckon your berries are the better way to go - it's more natural ain't it? You did good Marion

And don't spend TOOOOOO much time in that new pool of yours - you'll end up looking like a prune if you stay in the water too long! hehe... or you could pull out the extension chord and plug your computer nearby and write to us from the edge of your pool?

Hey and you know what? I think TOM is coming today or tomorrow. I broke out in a whole heap of zits - fingers crossed... is it possible that with TOM arriving, that was why I went absolutely crazy with the sugar last week? Come to think of it, my last cheat was 3 weeks ago... and that must've been around my last TOM? :confused I think there could be a pattern there? Please, please, pray that Marion is right and these 8 pounds will go (did you see in my journal? I wrote a whole entry on how crabby I felt - I intend to go back to page 13 of my journal every time I wanna give into sliding off the wagon, hopefully it'll remind me that I feel crap every time I do this to myself!!!!)

Burrito :yummy man, it's been a loooooooong time since I had one of those - lucky most of the mexican restaurants in Sydney are crap so i can't just easily drop in and give into a burrito

                          G'morning! :wave

I really am lucky to have "a life" now :nod I've earned it and so will you! My 26 y/o daughter lives with us right now but at least I don't have to hire a babysitter when I want to go out.. LOL.. but she is still very immature when it comes to certain things.

I have always liked camping but never loved it until I met my hubby. It really makes a difference when you have all the right equipment to make things a little easier and have the right foods. Growing up, we always "roughed" it and meals were hot dogs and chips.

So Marion, you inviting us over for a pool party?? :geek Just think of the wonderful exercise you'll be getting swimming everyday! I'm jealous! :tounge but also very happy for you! My cousin, who was also my best friend growing up, had a swimming pool. We had such fun in that thing! Especially since the chlorine turned her hair green.. LOL I'm serious!

Thank you for your well wishes for my surgery. I had this done on my other foot about 12 years ago so I know what I'm in for. As far as getting old, you're only as old as you feel. I accept it and sometimes use it as an excuse to be what my daughter "lovingly" calls me a NERD! I think I'm going to have to start charging her rent! :grumble

Anyway, got a busy day ahead. Thanks for letting me in! I LOVE reading your stories! My menu wasn't that great yesterday so I'll post today's.

                          B-Coffee w/1 splenda
                          Omelet w/3 med eggs, 1/2 c spinach
L- Salad w/2 C spinach, 1/2 green pepper, 2 hard boiled med eggs, 3TBS carb free blue cheese dressing, chicken 3 or 4 oz.

I actually went camping with a friend and her son a year ago! It was WONDERFUL! We stayed in a cabin though, but it was the first time as an adult that I went. The thing I loved the most was cooking at the camp fire. There was something SO cool about how long it took to prepare the food, how rustic the cooking was, how much more I enjoyed the food when it was done. Call me sappy, but I SO enjoyed it! I've actually built a fire pit in our yard now, but I need to get wood to burn.

Thanks for the tip about the computer next to the pool....I would be a prune with electric shock therapy each day!!! :yikes :yikes :yikes

Hey Deb, your daughter is SO lucky! My dad charged me rent the day after I graduated! Even when it got too hard to pay it! But then, my dad........I better not say it. He isn't talking to me since Christmas, and I dont' want to say things I'll regret if he ever forgives me.

Ok all, bye. I actually should get some work done today!

Well, there's a story behind my daughter living with us right now. I'm not sure how to make it short so someday I'll spill it. Let's just say that we are very happy to have her with us, paying or not. At least she's alive :joy
