Re: Tickle and Mari's ATKINS CHALLENGE...Finding our CCL

I have a more positive attitude today (as you can see in my journo) and I have decided to not think of 8 pounds gained but rather as I am now 145lbs and it's a new start!

You know, last night I was so depressed about it all, and I thought 'stuff it' and I thought I would buy many chocolate bars today. But this morning came, I received JimmieJo's post through my email, and I thought about how awful the last carb hit felt like, and I thought, no way, no choc bars!

Marion, I'm sorry about your day yesterday - weekends ARE hard, especially long weekends with lots of family gatherings. I hope that your 4th of July is better...
Hope your weekend is going well Debbie

Ok, here's what I've eaten Monday:
B - 6oz of salmon sashimi with dash of soy (I was desperate to find something for breakfast, ok?)
L - 5-cup spinach, celery, red capsicum, cucumber, red onion salad with quarter roast chicken, one egg in a low-carb Caesar dressing
D - 2 rashes of panfried pork belly in store-bought bbq sauce (5g carbs/serving), with 1.5 cups cooked broccoli
    S - 3 curls of pork rinds

Hi Ari and Debbie! The weekend was bad, but I'm back today and back to being good! Glad you didn't buy all those chocolate bars...yes, carb hits stink! I'm feeling lousy today, but I'm exercising, so I think it kinda took the edge off. Getting some of that cleaning done, but tons more to go, so I'll catch up with you all later!

      B. 6 oz. breakfast sausage
      L. sausage veggie fry
      S. seasoned pork ribs/ salad

Re: Tickle and Mari's ATKINS CHALLENGE...Finding our CCL

Sshhhhh!!!! I did go out last night to buy 6 bars... but I ate only 1.5 of it, and I stopped

Yesterday was bad for me. I was up soooooo late wanting to play with my new toy (this board of course, what else?) that last night I came home completely bushed. When I'm that tired, I just eat whatever's there, and have absolutely NO resistance whatsoever. DF was just too tired to cook, so was I, and we were just too tired to go out and buy some decent take-out, so we both rummaged the fridge - he ate frozen peas, I ate some Chinese take-out leftovers (which I'm sure is full of sugar as it tasted sweet) ie I ate 2 cups of cooked green beans, 1 cup of cooked mashed eggplant, pork rinds, then discovered I didn't want pork rinds and just wanted chocolate bars, so I went across to the petrol station right across the street from where I lived and bought 6 bars. When I came home I ate 1.5 of it - can't say it was the sugar i wanted, it was more these particular bars I wanted - I didn't want anything else that were sweet, just these particular Cadbury "Boost" bars with a solid chocolate centre with some crisps, coated with a layer of caramel, and coated with another layer of choc. Surprisingly I didn't eat all 6 bars - I stopped after 1.5 bars, and then I thought, 'now why did I just rummage through my fridge and eat all the other junk, when I should've just eaten the 1.5 bars and gone straight to bed?' I only wanted 1.5 bars, and that was it - so off to bed I went at 8pm, happy as larry, surprisingly guilt-free, and go figure, 2 pounds moved on the scales this morn.

But LET IT BE KNOWN that it WASN'T those choc bars, ok? And let it be known that I did a bad bad naughty thing, ok? So don't you girls copy what I did coz eating those choc bars, enjoying them and going guilt-free is not the way to go.

Ok, here's what I ate on Wednesday:
        B - 2-egg omelette with 2 skinless sausages
L - 3-cup spinach salad with grape tomatoes & cucumber slices, topped with quarter roast chicken & hard-boiled egg, tossed in lo-carb Caesar dressing
        S - 2 florets broccoli
D - large piece of ocean trout with 10 cups of asian greens and cos lettuce (yes, you read that right LOL no doubt I'll turn into a rabbit soon)
        CARBS 21G CALORIES 1,825 61%fats/5%carbs/34%protein

Re: Tickle and Mari's ATKINS CHALLENGE...Finding our CCL

Hi! I hope you didn't think I abandoned you guys. I'm really busy at work this week since Monday was a holiday and I'm having surgery on Friday. I did blow it this weekend and it cost me 2 lbs.

But anyway, I can't do much exercise until I'm healed so I've got to do my best to stick with the eating portion. It shouldn't be too bad since I won't be able to go anywhere!

I'll try to check in tomorrow, but if not, I'll try to check in while I'm recovering. Keep smilin'!!

Good day, ladies! Yummmmmm chocolate bars! Sounds so good! I'm glad you're not guilt tripping yourself, and that the scales finally moved! That's what happened to me when I had those strawberries a few weeks ago! I don't think I would have gained a thing this weekend if I didn't eat those DARN cornchips! Well, we live and we learn!
I've been having a good day today, but last night I ended up having a little bit of bbq sauce on my pork...about 2 or 3 tablespoons worth. I don't know how many carbs, as it was homemade, but I hope it wasn't that bad. Today I've been angelic eating wise, and have loved it. Feels like coming home after a vacation! Swim aerobics for about 40 minutes, toning and breathing for 20. It felt so good to stretch and do all that exercise. I'm doing sets of 100 of stretches, leg lifts, two forms of crunches, arm lifts, bicep curls, waist twists...and more I can't remember. My legs feel it! Then I relax in the pool, breathe deeply, and stretch as far as I can!

Debbie, hope your surgery goes as smoothly as possible! I'll be thinking of you! Ari...hope you got rid of the rest of those chocolate bars...ok to indulge once in a while, but don't want you going on a big break! "See" you all later...probably in the morning, as I have a sick son to tend to!

Re: Tickle and Mari's ATKINS CHALLENGE...Finding our CCL

Good Morning! Ok, bad me last night had diet ice tea, and too much of it!...a big no no, and almonds, which are NOT on my rung. So, I felt bloated, sick, and backed up today in a big way, and irritated with myself, since I really hoped to jump right back in and do it right! Also I had a whoppin' 20 oz. of water yesterday! NOT GOOD!

Ari, I got to thinking last night! I'm worried my falling of the wagon brings you down! We started this thread to help each other with support, but I'm afraid maybe, since I'm not towing the line well, its hurting you, especially since I come on and say I've had this and that. If this isn't helping you, I don't want you to feel you have to keep posting...but if it is, then we'll keep it up, only I PROMISE to stay on the true course and do this right! I'm officially starting the OWL rungs correctly today, and joining an exercise challenge for accoutablility! No more screw ups! My birthday is in October, and I want to be another 40 pounds down at least! That would put me at 280, and then I'll tackle another cold season on Atkins.

G'morning! I'm really busy today trying to get everything caught up before my "day off" tomorrow.

I've been really good this week. My fats were sky high yesterday but I was back down to "normal" weight this morning. After surgery tomorrow, I won't be able to get around well enough to hunt for the "cheat" foods.. LOL This might be a good thing!

Y'all hang in there. Let's just do our best and keep supporting each other!

Hi Debbie! Glad to hear you lost your weekend gain! Sounds like you're doing awesome! I've lost 5 of the 8 I put back on.
I did well on my eating and exercising yesterday, and was rewarded by being in strong ketosis. Also drank my water, which is a big part of this WOL. I did give in to SF Turtles last night, although only 1 serving. It irritates me, since I don't want to keep eating things with Splenda in them, it aggrivates my nerves and makes me jumpy and irritable. But somedays, its that or the real stuff, and I gave in!
Have a wonderful weekend both of you, and hope your surgery isn't too painful, Deb! Will be looking forward to hearing how it goes!

                        Hi guys...

Debbie I hope your surgery went well and you are recovering. Thinking of you and praying that you will be back on your feet in no time

Marion just because I can't seem to sort myself out right now doesn't give me an excuse to pop in and cheer you on!!! You've been holding the fort here in our challenge very well, and being very good with telling us how you've been going. Thank you for being such a beacon of shining light in our challenge

As for me I'm really screwed up right now... I hope you won't mind too much that I don't comment on how I've been going with my eating right now - to be honest, I just don't know what I'm doing right now, it's all messed up (I'm not saying I've completely fallen off the wagon because I haven't gone on massive carb binge or anything like that)

I have scrolled back to see how both of you have been travelling, and yes, I do agree with Marion that we've gone a little off-track - Debbie concentrating on getting through surgery, Marion trying to avoid all her little bites, me trying to find my purpose in the Atkins WOL...
SO it had me thinking... we are all in the Challenges forum, aren't we???
How about this for a suggestion? Why don't we each suggest "mini" challenges for our thread?
Marion tried to take the lead over the weekend by making one weekend completely cheat-free. For some of us, getting through one weekend completely legal is hard, so having these mini challenges may reawaken our initial enthusiasm within this thread?
We could utilise the reputation point system ie for each of us that completes the mini challenge, another will "add" to their reputation.

So some suggestions for "mini" challenges would be: one weekend completely clean, another week we could come up with a recipe based on a new food we've tried, another week could be no weighing for 2 weeks, another week could be avoiding all foods with Splenda... but we'd have to be completely honest with each other if we fail, you know? These mini-challenges are based on the "Top Model" idea and we could "steal" some of their ideas... what do you both think about it?

                        Just a thought...

                          Hi

Surgery went very well and I'm recovering quite nicely. I won't be exercising though for awhile.

Tickle, I love your idea about the mini-challenges. Weekends are the toughest for me so setting a goal for a non-cheat weekend would be ideal. I didn't do well at home after surgery. I gained 2.5 lbs but I'm sure I can get rid of it before next week (crossing fingers).

Mari, darn those turtles for finding their way to your mouth! But guess what? You recognize your weaknesses and know what to do to get on track. That's why we're here, right?

Gotta catch up at work. Catch y'all later!

Ok girls, shall we start this coming weekend?

                            Here's our first mini-challenge:

From Friday evening 5pm right up to Sunday midnight we will attempt to do Atkins as "cleanly" as possible for whatever level you're up to.
With me, I'm back on Induction for a few days so I will be sticking to 20g carbs.
For Marion and Debbie that means sticking to the OWL rung you are supposed to be on AND the carb level you have set for yourselves.

Ok, this is one task and LET'S TRY AND ALL BE WINNERS HERE

Now BE HONEST - if we fail the challenge come Monday morning, that's ok (well, it's not, but we're not going to whip any butts here)
If we succeed in the challenge, another one of us will "add" to the winner's rep.
If we ALL fail, then we'll just make the challenge smaller/shorter and increase until we can complete it.

So girls, mark your diaries, we begin on Friday 15 July 5pm in each of our respective timezones!

                                Hi GALS!!!!
Debbie...SO GLAD you're home, well, and recovering!
                                Tickle...HI! Okidokey on the challenge!

I was a pretty good girl today. I did have a couple Atkins Shakes, as I was not near good Atkins foods. As I am not doing induction right now, I think thats ok.

                                B. 1 3oz. hamburger pattie dipped in 1 T mayo
                                L. 1 4 oz. hamburger patties, 2 sl. cheese, 2 t. ketchup, 1 T. onion
                                S. 3 chicken thighs and 2 c. lettuce salad with cauliflower, cheese, onion, olives, and ranch dressing. 10 strawberries..according to Dr. A, this is 5 g. carbs
                                Snks, 2 Atkins shakes

                                Total: 2118 cals. Fat:131 57%, Carbs:33 4% Fiber:13,(20 net carbs) Protein:202 39%

I only have one shake left, and life has returned to normal, now that my SIL is all moved in to her new home, so shouldn't have any more problems.

                                G'Night all!
