Morning girls! Ok...these are the days when its hard to come into this challenge...when I must come in with my head hanging for misery at the shamful way I ate the day before . Emotional eating was the word of the day yesterday...and I ate, and ate, and ate! Fruit, Cheese crackers, Cheese puffs, Garnola bars, pizza, and cinnamon rolls...and not just one helping either! By the time I went to bed last night, I was bloated up to 320!!!!!!!!! Thats an 8 pounds binge, folks!!! And I was all set to get back on the wagon! So far this morning the IBS that has resulted has brought me back to 317, but thats still a 5 pound gain when I was facing only 3 pounds to my low from last Christmas! And I feel like PooPoo Platter! Oh the price we pay for a bad day!!!!!! If only I had had some of those cadburry boost bars, I could at least have cheated on something that wouldn't set me back a week! And it didn't fill the hole it was supposed to fill at any rate! Please don't be too hard on me, gals. I'm walking a fine line between giving in and moving on!

Ok...enough whining and self torture! I'm getting out of the house today, so that when the cravings start, I'm not close to temptation. Past the first day, I'm usually ok. I just had cold sausage for breakfast, and will be having taco salad for lunch and roast beef for supper with cream cheese and a veggie. Hope you all have a great day!

wellll... the proper thing to do would be to do a JimmieJo - to give you a little smack and a little talking to

but enough words stated on that, I think Marion you have banged your head enough times all by your wee self, eh?

You never told us what triggered the emotional eating - it's not as important to give you a good lecture, as it is to find out why you ate and ate yesterday? Is it to do with a much hoped-for pregnancy? Why'd you do it Marion?
I'm walking a fine line between giving in and moving on!
DON'T YOU DARE GIVE IN MARION... I know how to get hold of you and I'll email you and cyberhug you so much that you'll have to come back!!!!

Marion, don't be too hard on yourself. Like Tickle said, figure out what triggered your binge so you can work on avoiding a future episode We still love ya!

Happy Tuesday! I can't figure this out. I was real good yesterday for the most part. I had errands to run after work and by the time I got home, I was starving. I did have a few chips while fixing dinner but not 4 lbs worth! Where the he*& did the 4lbs come from????

Oh well, today will be terrific! My menu today is/will be:

        B - 3 slices bacon, coffee w/1 pkt splenda
L - Salad w/spinach, romaine lettuce, green pepper, tomato, small bit of shredded cheese and little bit of sliced hard boiled egg. (I made a big bowl of salad the other night and am finishing the leftovers) I don't know the measurements of everything but it fills a bowl I normally have for lunch daily. Also a piece of fried chicken that I made last night. I dipped the chicken in eggs, rolled it in spicy ground up pork rinds and fried in canola oil. Oh my gosh it's SO GOOD!!!
D - MORE FRIED CHICKEN!! and maybe some broccoli with another salad.

        And - gallon of water!

I miss exercising. I get my stitch out Thursday morning. I hope after that, I can move my foot a little better and it won't be long before I can wear a shoe and start walking normally.

You gals hang in there!! WE WILL WIN!!!

Good Morning Girls! I'm better today...did pretty well yesterday. Yes, the emotional eating was because I was depressed about not expecting. Its been 7 years, and it still hurts when disappointed. Its only this time the symptoms were so much more accute...I was really sure. I'm still having them so I will try one more test on Monday next, but this time I won't let it get me down. The fine line was just because it was my first day back after a cheat, and its always a battle on those days to keep going, when every second I'm dying for something sweet. Too much negativity on myself, and I would cave. You ladies were very kind to me...thank you!

This morning so far I've had bratwurst with cream cheese mixed with spicy mustard and horseradish. I've got to get my weight back down asap...its back up to 318. Lunch will be taco salad, Atkins style, and for supper roast beef...(never got it cooked yesterday) with 1/4 c. cottage cheese and a veggie.

Glad to hear things are going well for you, Debbie. Hope the exercise comes back easy for you. I haven't done my aerobic pool work out the last two days, but plan to get it in sometime today.

Hey, Ari...how are you doing on maintenance? Is it helping you feel more positive now?

Catch up with you all later! Have a great day!

Marion, glad you're feeling better. I'm so sorry about your disappointment. I hope things work out the way you want them soon

I did pretty good yesterday. Got rid of the water weight and am back to what my stats say, which still isn't where I want to be! I have a meeting I have to be at tonight so I had to pack my lunch AND dinner with me. I'm not looking forward to this really but it's an extra $100 (possibly $200) and it will help with the cost of going to the reunion at the end of the month. Soooo... my menu today is this:

B - 4 slices of bacon (I was running late.. ok)
L - My awesome fried chicken and a salad made with 2.5 C spinach, 2 C romaine lettuce, small tomato and ranch dressing.
D - More fried chicken and salad made with 2 C spinach, 2 C romaine lettuce, 1/2 green pepper and ranch dressing.

            Calories 1434 Fat 68% Carbs 3% (9 net, 15 total) Protein 30%

I need higher carb foods if I'm going to find my CCLL. Oh well, I was in a hurry. Maybe tomorrow I'll fry up more turnips and jicama. I'm SO hooked! I need to get more spaghetti squash, too! YUM!!!

Marion, hang in there. Great things happen when you least expect it! (Just how I found my hubby )

Tickle, how are you doing? Hope to hear from you soon!

              Hi girls!!!

Very very busy week this week and I was just too tired to log-in in the evenings.

Debbie, how are you healing? Glad to hear that you got that weight off

Marion, how have you been since? I hope you are going alright... we all do a spot of emotional eating but good to see that you are trying to recover.

You know what I've found mind-boggling???
Each day on Induction or OWL, I struggle to get through each day, struggle to try and resist temptations in the form of all the shops I have to walk past each day, selling cakes, pasta, potatoe bakes, chinese food, sandwiches.
I finally decide on a no restriction Maintenance, and I end up eating moderate portions of rice, noodles, chocolate, and guess what???
I have no desire to eat these cakes, sweets, pasta etc etc. I want to eat even less often, and feel full more that I just don't want to overindulge.

What is wrong here???????? Something wrong with my brain? It only wants stuff that I can't have? *sigh* And when I have no restrictions, i don't want them anyway.

And today, do you know what I end up eating?
I eat a large caesar salad for lunch and for dinner I eat a large steak with 6g carbs of green beans, plus couple of cups of pork rinds.

It's not like I'm trying to be on induction/OWL but today I find it easiest just to eat those foods.

You know the other thing I've taken for granted? Until now I've always found it easy to eat fresh meats and veg. This week has been extremely hectic, the apartment is in such a mess ever since we had to move all the stuff around so that floorboards could be installed. We've had had to have take-out nearly every night because we both work and it has been too tiring for either of us to clean up or find the time & space to cook. I learnt the success of Atkins relies on planning and preparation. Without it, it is easy to just throw some pasta & sauce together, make some fried rice, get some instant noodles, go for convenience foods. To buy/eat Atkins-friendly foods has been very difficult during this extremely busy week, but thank goodness I haven't gained weight.

              Alrighty girls!!!!

Here's our mini-challenge for this coming weekend:
Aim for a CLEAN, CHEAT-FREE SUNDAY!!!!!

(I really mean it MARION & DEBBIE - it's only one day, all of us, including me, will DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO STAY ON OUR WOE FOR ONE DAY - SUNDAY) - NO emotional eating, NO one-biters, NO excuses because you are hanging out with friends/family, NO excuses that you were in an amusement park and couldn't find anything to eat.

Seriously, ALL of us have strayed more and more lately, me being the worst example of all. Please, let's give this mini-challenge a real go.

              • Re: Tickle and Mari's ATKINS CHALLENGE...Finding our CCL

I'm IN! Actually, I'm aiming for a cheat free week, but I'll give it extra effort on Sunday...I'm getting all unnecessary non Atkins crap out of my house today! There are a few necessities for my DH and DS, but I try to get stuff that isn't going to tempt me.

Yesterday one vanilla creme wafer made its way into my mouth and down my throat...and some grapes and cherries . I know carb creep is killing me right now, so its gotta stop!

Sounds like you're doing well, Tickle! It is amazing how its easier to behave when we aren't forbidden anything...maybe thats the psycology you've been needing! Just keep telling yourself you're not on the diet, and you'll be eating like an Atkins Angel!

How did your meeting go, Debbie? I should try those fried turnips and jicama. I've been really enjoying just stir frying my meat and veggies with some spices, and less than a teaspoon of soy sauce. The veggies are especially good when they get almost burnt on one side....I guess carmelized is the word. It brings out a whole new flavor! Have you guys ever tried Brussel Sprouts fried with a little bacon? I clean their outter leaves away, then cut them in half and steam them. When almost done, I remove them and put them in a pan with the bacon grease from a few bacon strips fried. Then I crumble the bacon and add it, drain the oil off, and serve. It takes them from bitter to slightly sweet and very savory.....YUM!!!!

Of topic...why do kids have to act up when they have friends over? Did your kids ever do that, Debbie? I remember doing it when I was young, but I can't imagine what my reasoning was. My son has a little friend over today, and he's acting like a nut! Oh the joys of motherhood...and I want more! Does this make me a gluten for punishment? Teeheehee!

Ok...off to work on my house! Have a great weekend, but don't forget to check in! It gets lonely in here on weekends sometimes!

NO CARB-CREEP - we have to all remember that for this mini-challenge

*hehe* you'll be pleased to know Marion that I've finally gotten rid of this darned addiction to those Cadbury boost bars. I ate 3 a couple of days ago and that was too much, too much so that the taste isn't so appealing anymore... and my apartment is free of temptation foods (except pork rinds maybe)

Thanks for the kind words Marion whatever this weird reverse psychology is doing, well, as long as it keeps me on track, I can keep up with both of you in this challenge - I w i l l n o t f a i l with both of you here to support me.

Yeah I love brussels sprouts in butter & bacon and you're right about the slightly caramelised veggies - YUMMMY, it goes slightly sweeter too which I love - I've noticed that with veggies such as red cabbage. Stir-frying is great, ain't it? Great to see you going with those cooking skills Marion!

Marion I don't have kids, but I remember whenever I had friends over, I'd push my mum a little to see how far I could go and get away with things. It was also a show-off thing with friends - if I misbehaved and got away with it, that was cool. But I was careful with not misbehaving too much, just a little more each time to see how much I could push mum's buttons. I think maybe it's more so with boys? I have noticed with our friends' kids too. They have kids around 6-7 years old and their little girl is a right 'ol brat. She is spoilt enough as it is and her parents let her get away with lots of things, but stick her with other kids and she's 10 times worse because her mum doesn't scold her when her (the kid's) friends are around.

Stay in touch girls this weekend, ESPECIALLY on Sunday if the going is tough!

                    Happy Friday!!

Ok, I'm up for the challenge! Totally cheat-free weekend! I'll be home working on hubby's birthday present so I'm not going anywhere! I'll be homebound. Monday is a state holiday here so no work on Monday! YAYYYY!!! I will still work to stay cheat-free.

However, does it count as a cheat if I go drinking tonight? C'mon, it's Friday and I'm in a karaoke contest. I have to have a certain level of anebriation (sp) to even get up! I won't overdue, I don't want a hangover tomorrow because I have SOOOO much to do!!!

Marion, yes my kids acted up around friends. They are just showing off. I remember doing that as a kid, too. I think it's a requirement so we have 2nd thoughts of having more.. LOL.. obviously it doesn't work!

My meeting the other night went well. Got $125 out of it! That will pay for our trip to the family reunion next weekend. My foot is doing ok. I got my stitch out yesterday. It stung a little but I was such a brave girl It's going to take awhile to heal. I'm no spring chicken and I can't keep it elevated and iced all day. Still quite a bit of swelling.

Let's do well on this challenge! I'll try to check in on Sunday but no promises. My computer at home doesn't have internet on it but hubby's does and I'll probably be working on both of them trying to get this project done.

                    Catch y'all later!

oooh oooh!!! Debbie pic!! COOL!!! You know, I would NEVER believe you are the mother of those two lovely girls! You look like their beautiful BIG SISTER!!!! You don't look a day older than 33, much less 48! Glad to hear you got your stitch out, and that the process is moving along...you'll be out dancing soon! I did ok on my diet today, although I did give in to a Russel Stover lo carb bar, with 2 net carbs. Everyone I was with was getting ice cream...my all time favorite cave in, so I had that instead, and pulled the breading off of the cheese sticks....yummy! All in all I had too much cheese today to, but my calories were at 1996, my fat was 63%, carbs were net 34. 7%, and protein was 31%. A little high on carbs, but I'm back in dark ketosis, so ...its all good.

Cheat Free Sunday, here we come! Oh, and Debbie, do you like gin, vodka, or whisky? Carb free, and with diet soda, its an alternative for drinking, as long as you stick to one or two? Just an idea. Hope you win with that Karoke!

oh MY... Debbie you look SOOOOOOOO young!!!!

as Marion says, if you want to drink alchohol, go for the higher % alcohols like vodka - they have no carbs and even though your body's gonna want to burn them off before it burns off any carbs you have, at least you are minimising the impact.

Marion Do you know HOW PROUD I am that you didn't give in to those ice-creams and you didn't do any one-biters? YES!!! It seems like a while since we were all really good, so I'm so happy to hear that you've had a clean day.

Next weekend sounds like it's gonna be a toughie for you Debbie - eating at family gatherings is soooo hard. I don't know how you do it. I've had to cancel on quite a few eat outs with friends because there was simply no way around avoiding the foods I was going to have to eat.
Good to hear that your foot is getting better and sounds like you're a little more mobile too.

Well, how did I go for Sat? had a great big "rustic brekkie" with some friends today for lunch - bacon, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and a sausage... plus half a slice of thickly-buttered white toast lucky I stopped when I realised what I was doing. Dinner was really late. I wasn't hungry but we went to this Malaysian Restaurant for din, and I had some deep fried chicken (checked it wasn't flour-coated), some braised pork ribs and 4 cups chilli-fried green beans... yes 4 cups!!!! hmmm... that really pushed up my carb count but I tried to look at the bigger scheme of things - I've stopped eating those darned choc bars and green beans are GREENS - sure better than some of the other carb-laden foods I've been eating lately. So I'm improving. No excuse though.

I'm really looking forward to Cheat-free Tomorrow though. YAY!!!

I think WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

Yes, Tickle darlin', Green beans beat the HECK out of chocolate bars! I don't even consider that a cheat! I LOVE green beans....I could eat them steamed with butter and salt by the pound! Especially with toasted sesame seeds on them, but I don't do that now.

Ok...TODAY HAS BEEN AWESOME!!! I got up this morning to a mini whoosh which took me back down to 313...and I think tomorrow morning will have more good news! I had sausage, egg, and cheese for breakfast, and fried chicken with all the breading removed for lunch with half a side salad, which tasted like soapy water for some reason! YUCK! Tonight I'm going to have a stir fry with bratwurst! (very Atkins friendly...no sauce or rice) Yum a dum dum!!

Hi Ladies! How did YOUR cheat free Sunday go! Mine didn't go as well as I would of liked, but I tried SUPER hard! We went to Applebees for lunch, and I had their blackened chicken salad. I only used about 2 T of the hot bacon mustard dressing, but it tasted a bit sweet. Other than that, I had chicken, green beans, and bratwurst and cream cheese for breakfast. I estimate my carbs to be between 30 and 35, since there aren't things on fitday I can seem to compare it to. I feel good, and was still in ketosis, so don't think I messed up that bad.

Hope your day went well. Have a good night.

Hey Debbie, I'm still around, but not sure about this challenge anymore. Ari is not on the boards presently..just too busy, and since you weren't here either, I just didn't post. If you want to keep going with this, ok, but I'm thinking it might not be serving its purpose anymore. Have you thought about starting a journal in the journal forum? Lots of support to be had there, and I'll pop in to say hi and cheer you on! Let me know what you think we should do...stay here or move on.
