    Re: The Biggest Loser Challenge

    190 - down another 3 lbs. yaay!!

Splandrea, you missed a good show. They all went to Vegas and had to order dinner off a Planet Hollywood menu. Then they got a chance to gamble. Then they had a temptation challenge. They could pick a card, any card, and it could have a value of $1.00 to $5,000.00. But. If they took a chance they would have to go a week without their trainer. 3 girls and 2 guys did it. They all won between $1,000 and $2,500. Then they had a chance to double or nothing it. They guys decided to stay with what they had b/c they didn't want to give up their trainer and then have no money. Two of the girls took a chance and they doubled their money. One of the guys (Matt?) said he would train the 2 guys who would be without a trainer. Three of the girls worked with Bob and the other 3 just seemed to lie around a lot. In the end they all lost a fair amount of weight but the guys had a bigger loss so they won. The girls had a tie at voting time. The trainer girls voted for Shannon and the non-trainer girls voted for Ryan. The guys had to break the tie and they could have chosen any one of the girls, but they voted for Ryan b/c she's always working so hard. That about covers it.

thanks SO much for the recap - which was very thorough, I might add. So, my favorite part, when they kick someone off and then they go and show you how they look now, is Ryan all skinny minny or did she stay the same? i thought when Nick got kicked off he would be crazy buffed out but he looked bigger to me than when he was on the show.

        A bit more...
It showed the three girls lying around in the beginning but then they went and trained with the two guys that had gambled and Matt (isn't he a sweetie) trained them all. The guys had won a challenge so they got to pick who sat out and they choose Jen because they knew she had worked really hard as she had trained with the guys. Good pick for them because she lost the highest at 10 pounds. I think that all the girls that lost the trainer actually lost more weight than the other three. 4 of them hit Onederland last night.

The reason the guys gave for picking Ryan was that they wanted to pick one of the lighter girls (not sure how the reasoning works for that) and because when there is tension in the house Ryan usually seemed to be at the center of it. I think the real reason was that they did not want to pick one of the three that had exercised with them and became kinda part of the team for a bit there. JMO

Ryan lost 30 pounds on the show and another 25 after the show so a total of 55 pounds. It showed her working out and smiling lots.

Nicki is a big baby. I was really disappointed in him. I think that he did not step on the scale because he either weighed more, the same or way to close to the same. Too bad he didn't get it!!! He needed to become part of the team. Hopefully he wises up and gets healthy.

                Re: The Biggest Loser Challenge

My biggest vent of this week's show

I really don't like Jillian, the trainer. She's dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. Did anyone else pick up on her reaction when she found out that two of the guys gambled her away?

Before they go to Vegas, she makes this speech to them about how they have to learn to function in the real world. There isn't going to be a kitchen in the BL house for them forever, and they're going to have to start learning how to eat off a menu and deal with those temptations. Fine, I totally agree with all that. BUT, when she finds out that two of the guys who chose to win money have to go without a personal trainer, she totally flipped out. I found this to be totally contradictory. How many people have personal trainers for 3-4 hours EVERY DAY in the real world? I totally would have gambled. They didn't say you can't work out, they said you couldn't be trained by your trainer. The guys had the right idea by having Matt train them. Really, all you need to someone to motivate you, whether it's some snooty-tooty trainer, or a friend, or hey, maybe even a TV show on Tuesday nights at 8pm EST.

For her to insinuate that their decision was a bad decision is basically saying, "Hey, there's no way you can do this without me." That's not the right message.

I agree, Effie. Jillian is a tad dramatic and you're right about them living in the real world without a trainer. Did you watch the show last year? She was pretty heavy as a teenager and she whipped herself into shape. I think she's just really passionate about wanting to help them. Although you're right about the mixed messages. She's a toughie like our own darling Betty (ttdriver). lol Hey! I'd love to see that! Let's put in Betty's name to be the trainer next year! That would be awesome.

                    Hey all,
Where are we all? I know Shelly Lynn's on a hiatus, but that doesn't mean we stop checking in! I'm not too impressed with the show. Last year they focused a lot more on the diet and the exercise part, and on how the people were feeling as their bodies were changing. I think this is what happens to all reality shows-- they start focusing more on the interpersonal relationships and not on the big picture of the show. This is why I don't watch any reality shows!

Anyway, I'm up to 191.5. I keep gaining and gaining, but hey, at least I'm still posting. Otherwise my 1-2 pounds per week would be 5-10 pounds!

                      Hi Effie,

I guess we're the only ones left here? I lost a pound from last week. Sorry to hear you are gaining. Got any plans to maybe stop doing that? lol

Well the BLers are learning how to eat in restaurants and such. Which is helpful. Of course they have to show the personality issues or else this wouldn't be "reality" t.v. It would be a documentary. On the one hand they have all this time to focus on themselves which is good, but on the other hand, they have to deal with some stressful situations and stressful people. If they are emotional eaters (and who among us is not, to some extent?) then this is a good test for them too. Dealing with all this stuff without turning to food. I didn't really like Suzanne much but she looked awesome, didn't she? Obviously she has some dedication going there. She didn't look like she needed to lose 30 more lbs.

I'm still around! I've just been busier than a fig plucker in a needtahavadate factory!

The show is disappointing because it seems really sensationalistic and focusses more on the back stabbing than on the actual changing of habits for th better. Still, I continue to watch it weekly, partially because it is so inspiring seeing all these people lose so much weight!

I've stopped weighing for the time being because I was *too* worried about the scale. I know I'll lose weight if I keep working at it.

Way to go on your loss, Lady and Effie, way to go on hanging in there!
