Sorry, I forgot to mention who that person was that looks like our Sugar, she is Arianne Zucker from Days of our Lives. She plays a nasty villian, but I think she trys to be good.... No matter, she's really pretty, and so is our Sugar!

Andrea...I just want to say that you need to cut yourself some slack girlfriend.

You just checked in with a pound lost on Oct 3...three days ago. On Oct 2 you checked in with a 3 pound loss. Sept 29 I think it was 2 pounds lost and Sept 28 you had a 4.5 lost. So YIKES girl I don't consider that stuck!!! Three days?? Give your body some time! It took longer than that to get on so you are doing amazing!

You may want to start thinking about weighing once a week to get that 'I lost x amount of weight' high. JMO! We are here for you but please give yourself some slack!!

I lost a pound since last weekend, down to 198.5! Onederland is a wonderful place to be. Went to the doctor yesterday, he told me I pulled something in my shoulder, and to stop any upper body exercising for a few weeks. I can't lift my arms over my head. Must've pulled something when I was kickboxing, I really got my whole body into it, and apparantly too much of my shoulder. It's a real bummer, as I loved the kickboxing, & pilates, and will not have to resort to the treadmill, bike, walking, & the Couch/5K program, for the next few weeks. I hope this will be enough to keep that weight moving downwards!

Cleo..just thinking about what you said.."I know I said this before, but even a salad eaten on a full stomach feeds your fat cells and not your body."

this isn't necesarily true though is it?? For instance if I loved spinach...which I don't but just for the sake of discussion let's say I do...and I had 5 cups of it...I would imagine that I would feel full but then if I still ate another cup of it it would not go to feed my fat cells just because I felt full as it is still really low in calories and carbs. So a full stomach and how the food is processed is really two different things are they not??

Just trying to figure all this stuff out...I know...I know...I over analyze...bad habit.

Hey, I'm all about the analyzing. It is a good thing.

Eating-to-need is not a quantitative analysis, but a qualitative one in some ways. There is no set point at which the stomach switches off and then a little trap door opens and the spinach immediately rappels down to the inner right thigh.

In lieu of having the precise knowledge to know what, precisely, feeds the body and not the fat cell we usually can only guess based on our body-feedback.

We can fall on caloric intake alone--but what, then? If you eat all 1500 calories in the morning but are past full, is the food going to fuel the body as it should, or will some of it be converted to fat?

Small meals during the day (5-300 calorie meals) will be the least likely to be converted to adipose, or stored energy than 3 larger meals of 500 calories per day.

And drinking vast quantities of fluids during a meal isn't helpful. It is too filling, and doesn't allow our bodies to fill up on the nutrients we need from the food we're ingesting.

Just some random thoughts I'm having about this based on the Debra Waterhouse book "Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell". I think we'll have to hit that one after Dr Phil.

Oh my goodness...it makes sense to me..it is a miracle. Yes...I can see what you are saying here.

I never thought of it that way. So are you saying we really shouldn't be chugging down a bunch of water just before/during/after a meal as it affects some of the nutrients absorbing??

                        Sounds like a good book.

                          Cool green beans. *lol*

Drinking during a meal should be limited I think. I know on days when I'm chugging down 32 ounces during mealtime I'm getting too little actual nourishment. I'd also go so far as to surmise that you could be pushing the proteins, fats and nutrients out of your stomach with too much water, and having them in there for the longest possible period of time is what helps keep us full. I also see my kids too quickly fill up on beverages at the dinner table rather than using the liquids to wash the food down. At a meal, a beverage should enhance the meal and not drown out the need for nourishment. Again, just a thought.

I know it can be used as a tool to curb a person's appetite but had never thought of it that way before...very interesting!!

And Miss Cleo...you are the coolest of the green beans to me!! ;^)

                              Today...

Brunch: three eggs, 3 T chopped green onion, 2 oz cheddar, 1 T milk (gasp!), 2 slices bacon.

Snack: 1 cup squash, fried crispy in 1 T olive oil with garlic

                              1 pickle

Dinner to be: 2 slices pork roast, 1 large salad

On my way to one gallon of water, and going to do the "Cleo walk" at the gym today, instead of swimming. We shall see!

I dont know that I will get 4 miles in... we dont get tv, and I get bored so easily.

4 miles in 75 minutes is about 3.3 mph?
