What kind of exercise are you doing a day, jsj? Assuming you get a moderate degree of exercise a day I have you according to the site at this:

    Based on the following information:
Height 5' 3" Weight 157 lbs. Age 19 years Gender Female Activity Moderate You need approximately 2472 calories to maintain your current weight.

If your goal is to lose weight, subtract 500 calories from the value. If your goal is to gain weight, add 500 calories to this value.

Keep in mind that calorie needs can vary +/- 20% depending on your personal metabolism. If you want to find out how to maximize your metabolism, visit a registered dietitian.

If you are 30 pounds or more over your desirable weight, the calculation may be high, and it is recommended you visit a registered dietitian for an individualized assessment.
It even says it might be high and to see a dietician. Well, I say if you're eating between 1500-1900 calories you are going to lose weight. If you can'tr eat that much, eat between 1200-1500, and you will see more sure weight loss.

fancy-- that's harder to do. What I did was two-fold.

Look at how much you lose in induction. In the 2002 version of DANDR, Dr A discusses very briefly how to determine metabolism based on weight loss for the first two weeks.

Another way to calculate this takes more mathwork, but it can be done by figuring your weight loss over a set period of time, taking into account the BMR and determining whether you have lost more than someone with your BMR should have lost for a set period of time.

I still would say you should eat between 1200-1800 calories, depending on how hungry you are, if you're using fitday to calculate everything. Right now I'm averaging 1500 calories a day. I've had to try to eat more because I was having pin prickles in my legs, and I think this was because I was burning more than I was eating a day!

Thanks Cleo. I hadn't thought about how hot it would be coming out...I was thinking about how hard those suckers are to cut when they aren't cooked. I think I will give it a go cooking whole so I can see what it would be like to batch cook with it. That way I could put four or five in the oven and bake them...let them cool and put into individual serving bags in the freezer. I love having ready made stuff in the freezer!!! Hmmm...will wrap in tinfoil this time in case it gets soft in there. Wouldn't want a big old squash mess in my oven. Thanks again!

Well I haven't had one in years and the last time it was smothered in spaghetti sauce. Tonight it gets steamed onions and 1 T of marg. I am actually pushing the rules with it as I am going to have a cup of it...which is...according to fitday 10 carbs so really I should be having a 1/2 cup. But it fleshes out my carb count to what it is supposed to be so I will give it a go.

Plus, you'll get the feel for how it affects your blood sugar, too! Hopefully, you'll have no problems...but if you do, you'll immediately know it was the squash. Of course I'd have to have alfredo and pine nuts on it. But then, I'd eat alfredo and pine nuts on anything.

how bout the ice cream truck? Would you cover that in alfredo and pine nuts before you licked it? I wouldnt make a blanket statement like that, until I got to see a picture of alfredo and make sure he is my type. Does he pick up his socks and have a good job?

Elsie.. thanks for that link. I am having fun checking out all the workouts.

I will have to be brave and try spagetti squash soon.

How did we get on the subject of Alfredo and his pine nuts?? LOL! I ate it with 1 T marg....it was good! The kids both took a tiny tiny bit...that is a major thing here. DD said it was okay but not her favorite and DS did not throw up so good all around!! LOL!

Was much easier to cut this way. Now I need to figure out all the names of the squash we grow here so I know what kind I can eat. We have at least 6 different varities sitting down stairs. They grew from the bird seed we put outside.

Only drawback was the link Cleo sent said 4 oz equals 5 grams and I measured out 1 cup to equal 5.8 oz and fit day only goes by the cup....so not really really sure what the count is.

How quickly I have become accustom to this WOE. It just occured to me that I should have gone up a rung yesterday and that means adding more carbs. So I looked up the rungs and it is the alcohol rung and I am going to skip it as I only drink a few times a year...and I think I will skip it at Christmas this year. So even though I am skipping the rung do I still add on 5 more carbs of the rung I am on or below? And if so does that mean that I could have 10 oz of melon or berries and can it be eaten together or should it be spaced ...like 5 oz in the morning, 5 oz in the afternoon???
