    Re: OT:FlyLady Challenge/January

Hey Kat...I don't know how to make any graphic things.:^( If anyone does please feel free to go ahead and make something.

LOL...on the Baglady. Or Cutting the Clutter. Or Chaos Control. Okay...yours is definately funnier!! LOL!

Hope everyone did their 15 minutes and kept their sink shined. I had a bit of motivation today for some reason. Put a book tape on in my craft room and I can now see some floor...enough to vaccum a bit and also half of my scrapbooking table. VERY EXCITING!! LOL!

Okay...next post will be tomorrow's chore!

      JANUARY 6

OH OH..some of us (ME) are going to have to work at this next one. The dining room table is a BIG Hotspot for me!

      BABYSTEP

Day 6 - Getting Dressed to lace up shoes - Keeping our sink shining -
Reading 2 minutes of Reminders - Looking at our posted reminders in the
kitchen and bathroom - Recognizing the negative voices when you hear them
and changing the words to be nice to you. That is what FLYing (Finally
      Loving Yourself) is all about.

Today we are going to learn about Hot Spots. We all have them. Here is a
link on our website to read the definition of a Hot Spot.

      http://flylady.net/pages/FLYFaq.asp#hotspot

Now I want you to set your timer for 2 minutes and let's practice
      putting out your Hot Spot. You don't have to work till you have finished;
just do what you can in 2 minutes. Put your bills in one place. This will
keep you from having to search for them.

      TASK

      Dear Friends:

Let's have a Fire Drill on the flat surfaces of the dining room!!!!

Do you have a hotspot in there that is burning? Get out the trash
bag and an empty laundry basket. Toss the trash and put the things
that need to be put away in other rooms in the laundry basket. Once
you have cleared the hotspots, deliver the other items to the proper
      rooms.

This might take a little longer than 15 minutes if so than work for
15 minutes, take a break for 15 and go do another 15. Let's put out
      those fires!

Are you still here? Did you make it through the week? Are you planning on doing catch up this weekend? Are you seeing any improvement at all? Are you still trying?

I completely slacked off everything today except keeping the shine empty. I will admit that I do not shine it...I am happy enough that it is staying empty and clean as are the cupboards...something totally unheard of for such a long period of time! I will be working hard this weekend to get all caught up again and will raring to go Monday.

So I have a 100% improvement in the kitchen. The entrance way is looking okay...about 50% better. The dining room...5%...LOL! My craft room...WAY better but still has a LONG way to go!!

          BABYSTEP FOR JAN 7

          Day 7

          - Getting Dressed to lace up shoes - Keeping our sink shining - Reading 2
minutes of Reminders - Looking at our posted reminders in the kitchen and
bathroom - Recognizing the negative voices; change them and FLY! - Put
out your Hot Spot for 2 minutes; just pick one.

Today we are going to add a new habit to our before bed routine. Tonight
before you hop in bed; I want you to pick out what clothes you are going
to wear tomorrow. You can lay them on a chair, on a shelf or hook in the
bathroom or on a hanger on your closet door knob.

                For Sunday Jan 8

                Babystep 8

                Day 8

Here you are; you have been FLYing for a whole week. I am so proud of
you. Let's review your new habits. I am going to break them down into
what you do each morning and what you do each evening.

                Morning Routine

                - Get up and get dressed to lace up shoes; fixing your hair and face -
Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom - Reading 2
                minutes of reminders - Recognizing the negative voices and changing them;
YOU ARE FLYing NOW! - Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes

                Before Bed Routine

                - Keep your sink shining - Lay out your clothes for tomorrow - Put out
your Hot Spot (I have to do this twice a day) It makes me smile in the
                morning!

Over the last week we have introduced you to our reminders and the basis
of our routines. As you establish these habits it will become easy to add
another habit for you to practice.

Today I want you to find an old three ring binder and just put some paper
in it. Then at the top of one page write Morning Routine and on the top
of another page write Before Bed Routine all in pencil. This is a working
document; do not allow your perfectionism to interfere with the process.
Now you can write your simple routines on each page.

                    TASK FOR JAN 9

                    Dear Friends:

We are still in the thick of our Super Fling Boogie and we are
heading into the kitchen. This week our missions will be dedicated to
                    de-cluttering our kitchens!

Your mission for today is to de-clutter your silverware drawer, get
rid of those leftover plastic spoons, wet wipes, sippee cup lids that
don't have bottoms anymore, etc. We all have the stuff that just
seems to pile up in that drawer!! Set your timer and fling, fling,
                    fling!!!

BABY STEP AND ZONE MISSION FOR TUES JAN 10

                        BABYSTEP
                        Day 10

                        Morning Routine

                        - Get up and get dressed to lace up shoes; fixing your hair and face -
Looking at your posted reminders in the kitchen and bathroom - Reading 2
                        minutes of reminders - Recognizing the negative voices and changing them;
YOU ARE FLYing NOW! - Put out your Hot Spots for 2 minutes - 5 Minute
Room Rescue (pick any room in the house) set your timer and go!

                        Before Bed Routine

                        - Keep your sink shining - Lay out your clothes for tomorrow - Put out
your Hot Spot (I have to do this twice a day) It makes me smile in the
                        morning!

We have already been using our timers for 2 minutes and now 5 minutes.
Today we are going to learn the power of just 15 minutes. You can do
anything for 15 minutes. This is all about getting started and giving
ourselves permission to stop when the timer goes off. You cannot restart
the timer either. This is not a race to finish in 15 minutes either! The
timer helps to keep us focused on what we are doing.

Now set your timer for 15 minutes and go gather up all the trash you can
find to throw away and put it in the garbage can outside. Then set your
timer for another 15 minutes and sit down and put your feet up and read a
favorite magazine till the timer goes off.

                        ZONE MISSION

                        Dear Friends:

Your Mission for today is to fling your way through at least one
shelf of your pantry. We all seem to have items in our pantry that
we will not use, that we keep shoving to the back because one day we
might use them. When I moved, I found I had over 15 muffin mixes
that I had bought because they were on sale and I had bought them
over three years ago!! Needless to say I tossed them! Take a bag
and toss into it anything that is in your pantry that you do not need
and will not use. Donate these items to a homeless shelter, a soup
kitchen or church pantry. Toss the open boxes of crackers, open bags
of chips and out of date items into the trash. Set your timer and
                        have fun with this!

                        Kelly

PS Don't forget to send in your pounds for the Super Fling Boogie!

Hey Kat! Nice to know someone is still here with me.

I didn't get my junk drawer in the kitchen done for today. But I did go through 2 drawers in my bedroom and got them organized. You know...I have at least 52 pairs of socks...LOL! 52!!!! None of them with holes. Also had 9 bras in there but cut them down to 3. Haven't managed to part with the socks though.

Still have to clean the kitchen. Made dinner then made some LC Chili and am dividing it up into servings for the freezer. So will get that cleaned up before bed. I have to stay up a bit later nights now as I am handfeeding 2 baby African Grey Parrots. Makes me tired and less energetic.

I have the makings of my Control Journal...just have to flesh it out a bit. I have some links to each step of that if you want it. Let me know and I will post it.

Okay...better go and finish in the kitchen.

LOL! If there is it would be on her site... www.flylady.com
Don't give up Wanna...the more you try the more you make a dent in it. It has taken me years to get to this point...which is still bad but not as bad. I don't need days of notice that someone is coming over...I can now clean the upstairs to an acceptable level in an hour or two. Still don't want them down stairs...but it is better than before. Everytime I join FlyLady I get a bit more done..get a bit more organized....then I quit for a while and plug away on my own..then rejoin.

What I am trying to say is that it isn't easy. But it is worth it. You know a funny thing just occured to me. Last year was the first year where I seriously started parting with stuff. Always had a box on the go to the thrift store...and it was also the first time in over 2 years that I attempted to lose weight. Funny how I am getting rid of body clutter and house clutter.....

                                Dear Friends:

Today is Anti-Procrastination Day and we are heading into the
refrigerator!!! Your mission for today is to set your timer, grab a
trash bag and throw open the door to fling out the science projects,
holiday leftovers and don't forget to check out the vegetable/fruit
drawer. I am usually guaranteed a piece of fruit with a little fuzz
on it that needs to be tossed!!
