Wanna...I am so excited for you!! It is hard in the beginning but makes you feel freer the more you get rid of, doesn't it?? Pretty soon you will be parting with stuff you never thought you could...even some of those knick knacks.

Are you throwing your stuff out? Yardsaleing it? Or thrift store?

I have a pile of yardsale stuff..mostly craft stuff and I keep flip floping on if I should just get rid of it or try to sell it for a bit of money..it seems so wasteful to just give it away when I know how much I paid for all that stuff. The other thing that is taking up a lot of room is when I was younger I bought a whole bunch of collector plates..from Bradford...I think I have about 40 of them sitting in their boxes on my shelves that I paid 35-45 bucks a piece for. I am not sure what to do with them. Don't want them but can't convince myself to give them away. SIGH!

I'm throwing a lot of it out...'cause it's junk...can't believe I kept some of this stuff so long. The rest is in boxes until I find somewhere to drop them off at. There are places like the Diabetes Association that pick up stuff at your door but I'm not sure if that is only cloths. I'm going to call.

Why would you get rid of your plates? I have a collection too and there is no way I'm getting rid of them. I have a set on a rack in my dining room and another set on a table in my living room and another set mounted on my walls in the kitchen. I have a lot of the oriental ones.

Good for you for throwing it out. I, too, have come across a lot of "what in the world did I keep this for" stuff. Do you have a Big Brothers that comes to your area?? Check the yellow pages maybe?

I really don't have the wall space for them. Most of them are Norman Rockwells. And I am not in love with them. I got some nice Frances Hook ones hanging in my craft room. The rest I would part with.

              Day 23

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning and Evening

Today we are going to add another routine to our day. I like to call this
our get home from work routine or get home from school. Whatever you name
it; it is your afternoon routine.

Make a new page in your Control Journal for your Afternoon Routine. As
with any of your routines; you will have to adapt to fit your family.
Your Control Journal is your guide for babystepping your way through you
              day.

              Zone Mission

              Dear Friends:

Today you are to spend 15 minutes in the master bedroom clearing off
the flat surfaces: the dressers, night stands etc.

We have a tendency to use our bedrooms as the dumping ground when we
don't know where to put things or when we are in a rush. Take the
time today to take care of the stuff that has been piling up on the
flat surfaces. Just 15 minutes. Remember what Flylady always
says, "You can do anything for 15 minutes."

Have fun and don't obsess, just do it!

              Love,

                    Day 24

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening

One of the things that make our home always ready for company is the fact
that our main bathroom is clean. Each morning as part of my Morning
Routine I do something I call a Swish and a Swipe. This means I swish the
toilet with a toilet bowl brush and I wipe down the counter tops and sink
with a rag and put away all the things I have gotten out. This takes all
of two minutes to keep our bathroom ready for anyone.

Add Swish and Swipe to your Morning Routine

                    Zone Mission

                    Dear Friends:

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that
does not belong in your bedroom. Things that have gotten thrown in a
corner, on a chair or even the floor. The things that you almost
don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it
out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your
bedroom, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

Here is the babystep for Jan 25

                        Day 25

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening

You have only been doing your routines for 25 days now. I am so proud of
you. Keep in mind that you are not ever going to be perfect and we don't
expect you to be. In fact we don't even like that "P" word. Right now you
have your routines written down in your Control Journal. It will help you
to practice them each day. These habits are not automatic yet; so you are
still going to have to use your Control Journal, sticky notes and our
reminders to help you establish your habits. Another tool you have is
your calendar and stickers. We love giving ourselves a sticker when we
are establishing a habit. I know that I have thrown a lot at you in the
last 25 days but don't give up now. Every time you do your routine you
are one step closer to developing your habit and running on automatic
pilot. Today I want you to read how I started developing my routines one
habit at a time. It took me several months to do this and here I am
expecting you to get it in four weeks. Well here is the deal; I don't
expect you to do this in one month. Be nice to yourself and don't beat
yourself up. Your consistent babysteps will get you there.

                        http://flylady.net/pages/WhyFly_PersonalTest.asp

Now go give yourself a gold star for doing your Morning Routine.

Zone mission for Jan 25 Wednesday

                          Wednesday's Mission!

                          Dear Friends,

Today is the day to get rid of the dust in your bedroom. Dust the walls and the ceilings. Have you ever noticed how the dusties seem to creep up the walls? LOL! Then grab a dust cloth and dust the flat surfaces of your furniture as well. You will be so surprised at how much dusting you can get accomplished in 15 minutes.

                          Have fun!

                          Love,

                          BABYSTEP for Jan 26 Thursday

                          Day 26

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening

It takes us a month to establish a habit. I set it up this way because I
knew that I would miss a day here and there and I didn't want to throw
the baby out with the bath water. That was how I had always done it with
my perfectionism. If I missed a day I gave up; well I factored in this
part of our personalities into our FlyLady system. This is why we take a
whole month to establish one habit.

Today I want you to go look at the bottom of any email that I have sent
out. The first sentence is what I want you to look at and incorporate
                          into you FLYing!

Zone mission for Jan 26 Thursday

                          Thursday's Mission!

                          Dear Friends,

Today is the day that you get a really short mission. The only thing you have to do is grab your feather duster or dust rag and dust off the tops of your door jambs and windows. I was painting a room the other day and couldn't believe how dusty the tops of door jambs and windows could really get. Take the duster or rag and wipe across the tops of the molding and jams. Take a swipe across the hinges as well. They seem to collect little dusties as well. This is quick and easy and makes quite a nice difference.

                          Love,
                          Kelly

                            Zone Mission

                            Dear Friends,

This is one of my favorite missions: Toss your underwear! LOL!

When was the last time that you went through your underwear drawer?
How many pairs really need to be tossed? Pantyhose? Bras? This is
one area that SHEs really have a tendency to ignore for themselves.
Wearing nice underthings, makes you feel good!

Toss what you can and make it a promise to yourself that you will
replace them when you can. Release the tattered, holey, and just plain

                              Babysteps for the weekend

                              Jan 28 & 29

                              Day 28

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening

Many times when we can't seem to get going it is because we are not
taking care of ourselves by eating right, drinking our water or getting
enough sleep. As part of your routines I want you to remind yourself to
eat good food, drink your water and get your rest.

                              Day 29

Check Your Control Journal Every Morning, Afternoon and Evening

We have worked very hard this past month. I hope that you have become
familiar with our email FLY Washing system and you are seeing some
progress in your home. It took me nine months of building my routines one
habit at a time to get our home running on automatic pilot. Please do not
beat yourself up over this. Anything you do today is better than it used
to be! Celebrate each accomplishment and enjoy the process. Before you
know it you will be having more time for the things that you love to do.

Right now I want you to look at the bottom of our homepage and find the
weekly Pamper Mission and read it. Then think about when you are going to
do it. You may have to put it on your calendar to really make it happen.
